Dan, you asked what was different. I immediately noticed that you replaced the framed item on the right-hand side. I was going to ask in the Q&A what that framed item was, but now you've replaced it with a "Casablanca" poster. That's a great movie.
BINGO, you got it right, a Casablanca poster. Got a few retro film posters for Christmas like that and Sunset Boulevard. The previous print I had there was a print of the Cornetto trilogy of films (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Worlds End)
I think Joy to the World would have been better if it wasn’t about Joy and was instead about the world (as in either the space hotel or The Doctor chilling on Earth as those were the best parts) Still, I had fun with the episode
@@philnewton-england7795 I think it was a kind of bootstrap paradox resolution. Like in Time Crash, the tenth doctor knew how to solve the case because the fifth doctor had watched him do it. It is a bit unclear initially but I think that’s what the intent was.
It's strange when the title character of an episode is easily the weakest part. I am very conflicted about the ending as it was done much better with Kylie in 2007, and also it seemed to come out of the blue. The concept of the time hotel is almost too good for just a Christmas special and I hope it comes up again. I'm glad they finally addressed Covid in universe. I think this was a great episode for Ncuti's doctor, but it was hampered by an underdeveloped guest star (despite a great performance)

That’s honestly a really great way of putting it.
How did the Doctor get the code to the briefcase ??

That’s pretty bang on the money there. It helped in Voyage of the Damned that we had plenty of time to get to know Astrid which we didn’t get with Joy
It didnt blow me away… but it was a nice easy watch…. Love him as the doctor though.
@@sarahclayton4054 that’s fair. It was fun but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it. Ncuti is great though.
