    How blessed you are that you have such forests. Although there are also many forests here, they are also beautiful, but they are mainly industrial forests. How many times have I packed the camera again because it was so difficult to discover something completely natural. In the Black Forest and in the Vosges you will sometimes find what you are looking for. Our forests here lack the soul. That's why it's so beautiful to see these pictures. Thank you very much

    Ex teacher, retired 10 years ago and took up photography to pass the hours away. Really interesting vlog Simon. Can't abide the phrase, "Deep dive". So many years of "pushing the envelope", "blue sky moments", "thinking out of the box" etc. Drove me spare! Loving the images you've discussed.

    A great final installment of your walkthrough series of your exhibition. It is great to get this insight into your thought processes when taking these photos. I can especially relate to your discussion on the value of weather as I tend to go out in conditions which others describe as bad; for me many times they are good, not only for photography, but also to contemplate and find rest! And I keep going back to your exhibition book for inspiration.

    I live on the Humber Head Peatlands, a heaven of Silver Birch, Heather and Bog Marshes and I love walking around it, seeing the many trees and the colours, especially in spring and autumn but for the life of me I've never found a composition or created an Image I'd be proud to show. I don't know what it is but I can't seem to "see" a scene in a woodland. Have you ever been to a woodland and just can't see "the wood for the trees". You know a wood that no matter what you do you can't seem to get an image from a location

    Absolutely stunning pictures and so enlightning to hear the background and thoughts about each from both of you.

    In early spring, the leaves' chlorophyll hasn't really kicked-in, hence the sometimes autumnal appearance that you refer to in the case of the first print, which is a stunner, BTW.

    Always inspiring Simon. Love the fact that you and Joe are unafraid to embrace complexity and subtlety in the landscape. In my view it makes your images more engaging. Superb images from you both.

    That was an outstanding video, which I loved watching. The photos from both of you are so inspiring. Especially loved Joe's story about toughing it out in the rain when everyone else went and hid in the van. That's something I love to do too. Now I just need to work on the photography side of things!

    I've so enjoyed this series. I was unable to get to the exhibition, owing to a bad back injury over the summer (I know you will relate). You talk in such depth about the images, you've answered all my questions there. But I wonder if I can ask a boring technical question about the framing, which appears to be glassless? Can I ask what's going on here. They are beautifully framed and presented. The absence of reflections is obviously wonderful, but how are the prints mounted and protected?

    • @SimonBaxterPhotography
      @SimonBaxterPhotography  2 года назад +1

      Thank you very much, Simon. Hope your back is feeling better. A lot of people have asked about the framing, so I'll talk about it in a future video soon :-)

    I really enjoy being in our British woodland, especially the pockets of ancient woodland but photographing it I find really difficult and just looks a mess everytime I try it. I'll continue to try but after 2 years since I decided to give woodland a go it's just not happening for me. Maybe I'm not connected enough. I don't know.

    How can you not be familiar with Cat Stevens. I wasn’t around when Mozart was cranking out tunes but I’m familiar with his work. And I don’t even care for Cat Stevens.
