This was the theme of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves- the song of Robin and Marian. Imagine if this version was used in the film. This is absolutely beautiful.
Fun fact: Annie Lennox was considered to do this song and do it in Old English but the composer didn't like that idea. If it wasn't for Bryan Adams, I do think we would have had period-style instruments at least. It's odd how close this song could have been made un-marketable to pop radio, which would have tanked the song's prospects. I do think if they had done period-favored instruments in the main movie and did the Bryan Adams reprisal at the end credits, everyone could have had it their way and had something for the radio.
@@theyoungmarshjones I expect RUclips videos using clips from the film and medieval covers of the songs used (We Will Rock You, Low Rider, We Are The Champions etc). Not really into the musical genre A Knight's Tale was based on myself but it works in the film.
The original song was written and performed by Bryan Adams for the movie "Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves". This is the version that the movie execs wanted with lutes and lyre because the song was too modern and pop-y for the setting but Bryan Adams wouldn't budge so they buried the song at the end of the movie credits. They also did that because Bryan's own recording studio though the song was a flop. Then it became #1 hit on every radio station for 7 weeks in row. Shows you what execs know about music. Great performance by the way!
It's nice, but the grammar is off and it's just strange. "Thee knoweth t's true" A simple way of knowing whether to write THOU or THEE is simply change the sentence from 2nd person into 3rd person. Example: You know it's true, everything I do, I do for you. 3rd person: He knows it's true, everything I do, I do for him. Old English: Thou knowst t's true, everything I do, I do for thee. Funny Verbs Old English: Thou knoweth t's true: everything I doth, I doth t f'r thee. (You in subject is Thou. You in object is Thee.) I see you - I see him - I see thee.
Thank you so much for the tips Norse-friend! Yeah you are totally right, it sounds sooo awkward now that you mention the 2nd and 3rd person tenses. I will make an effort to correct this mistake as I go forward. Part of my constraints are making the syllables match the original tune, while still being funny and making sense. If you are up to reviewing some drafts for accuracy I would be happy to send them to you. I hope to record 2 new songs this Sunday and Monday.
So, I'm currently playing Curse of Strahd with my friends; I play a half-orc paladin. My paladin has been wooing Danika, the owner of the Blue Water Inn in Vallaki, & intends to propose to her (& hopefully get married) before going off to fight Strahd. This is what she'll be bribing her party's bard to sing while the proposal goes down.
I must say, I'm a huge fan of these covers, especially those with vocals
Thank you so much Mariana :D

Thank you so much skys! I cringed a bit at that movie lol but I think their song choice was fitting.
"Locksley! I'm gonna *CUT YOUR HEART OUT WITH A SPOON!"*

If I ever see a remake of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves I want to see a Medieval version of this song by someone.

You should make a compilation of these ballads. This one gives a magical feel.
Like a playlist, or all the songs in one video?
@@theyoungmarshjones A song in one video will be excellent. Your versions are wonderful.
Wow
My mom loves the original and I showed her this and she liked it

Now this is fitting for Robin Hood
Robin Hood is a worthy character for such a passionate song!
Actually 10/10
i've been waiting to hear a medieval cover of this song i love it i'd love to hear an instrumental too
Thanks Jeff! An instrumental cover is easy enough. I might try playing it on my recorder live.
@@theyoungmarshjones you're welcome my friend :)

Please do "Everything About You" by Ugly Kid Joe
I know what kind of character iam gonna make in mij new dnd campaign
Is there an instrumental version too?
I believe I sang this one for it lacked a melody line. It does deserve a justly played melody.
