    I'm a Marlin 336 fan. I have been hunting the past 4 years with this same rifle and I recent experienced a major jam with mine. In the process I stripped the screw on the factory loading gate. I decided to go with the Ranger Point Precision Flyweight gate. There really is no comparison at all! Things are much smoother now! This is one of the better videos on the tube. I really appreciate you taking the time and demonstrating how to change these parts out. I'm really considering the midsize lever, take down screw, and I would also love to change out my trigger as well. I have just subscribed hoping not to miss any informative videos. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge!

    I installed the rpp trigger on my Marlin 1895 GBL, and was very disappointed; the Marlin standard trigger is heavier to pull, but as crisp as the trigger on my Sako85. The rpp trigger have a lighter pull, but has a severe lag! I am going to change back immidiately!

    Your videos are like my ASMR haha. I recently bought a 1952 336RC. It's dreamy, but I wanted to upgrade it a bit, and found your lever installation video. Now I've ordered a trigger and loading gate haha
    I'm only going to stop short of changing the furniture. You don't buy a vintage gun to slap an M-LOK hand-guard on it. Or maybe you do and I might. Who knows.

      @buildhuntxplore  3 года назад

      LOL it's hard to do to a vintage one. These new ones I bought with the purpose of modifying. But, it's hard to find anything right now, so do what you can with what you have. Thanks for watching!

    I would very much like to install these upgrades on my Marlin Dark simply as an exercise to learn the mechanics of the rifle, take down/rebuild maintenance, de-burring and polishing but unfortunately in Australia the cost and hassle and cost to procure the necessary components is astoundingly prohibitive. I have tried but the price jumps 3 to 400% to import and that is not an exaggeration. Thank you for the videos. The explanations, thought out provision of information and format is easy to follow and inspires confidence to achieve the task set out. Cheers.

    Brownells have a great set of thin bits especially for Marlins. They are invaluable. No more torn heads.

    I’ve been looking more into the actual hunting aspect of the Henry vs Marlin, while the Henry was always higher in my regards, the actual function of the Marlin certainly has my attention. Just by replacing those items, you has transformed this rifle, and can be done at various stages. The first would be the loading gate. I know it was be sacrilegious, but painting the stock like the Dark Series could be an effective and cheap alternative to get a different look.

    Here is a Tip if this is your first time with the Hammer Spring: Be sure the hammer is all the way forward in the "fired" position (press the hammer release button just behind the trigger and trigger to lower the hammer forward). If you don't you will struggle like I did (launching the spring across the room a couple times...) until you feel like a dummy and realize the hammer is in the cocked position and there is no way you are going to compress the spring and be able to slide it in the slot!

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 года назад

      Yeah, that's fun! lol. Kind of like working on an AR and forgetting about the nipple and spring holding in the buffer...I've lost a couple of those, hahaha.

    Thank you for making these videos. I have a question I thought I would ask you: what is the ideal zero distance for a Marlin 1895?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 года назад

      You're welcome & thanks for watching! For my current hunting situation, I've zeroed my 1895 at 50 yards. That way I'm not off much if the deer is closer (35ish yards) or further out to 100. I would say zero based on your intended use and area to be used in.
