I do. My brother and I saw Clapton in concert several times. Stevie Ray blew his doors off without even trying or even thinking. The man was an open heart/soul to something wonderful. Love to all Stevie Ray fans out there b safe and happy.

I managed a nightclub in Charlotte,NC in 1983 and had SRV come play in a 2000 seat music hall. I had the privilege to sit down with him in the green room and watch him warm up unplugged and share some shots of George Dickell before the show. What a performance. I’ve see many greats and he is the best.

Many people forget that music and electronics are also drugs. Everyone needs to find the right music and the right drugs to add to their lives to be their best that God created them to be; and also live their longest, otherwise we die either way too young, or in far too much excruciating pain. Some people need to lighten up on the rules so the rest of us can live.

Eric Clapton said Robert Cray saw him in the hallway back stage and said “you want believe the show SRV is putting on out there”. They both returned to the side of the stage along with other guitar greats and watched in awe SRV putting on the performance of a lifetime. He played better than they’d ever seen.
That morning on the way to the sound check SRV casually said out loud “ I had a dream last night that I died and lots of people came to my funeral”. Go figure.

I remember, almost 30 years ago, I was totally overmotivated starting playing electric guitar at the age of 16 I Bought all the Albums of the world's biggest guitarists, malmsteen, Vai, satriani etc.. They were great, but I felt there was something missing, as a beginner I couldn't tell what it was... Then one night lately I was zapping through TV and suddenly there was this country music looking guy with the hat on.. It was SRV live at Rockpalast 1984, I watched the whole concert, then I understood what I was missing in other guitarists playing.. Changed my life forever.. Thank you Stevie

It's funny but the artists you mention, the so called virtuosos, are never spoken in the same breath as SRV or Jimi or anyone else who could play like they and so many others did. It proves that technical skill is one thing, but if you lack the emotion that is behind so critical to a guitarists' playing, then you have nothing. You are nothing. Zilch.
Case in point: While it is subjective, those rankings from music publications, you never see them in the top 100 or even 200. Hell the majority of them don't make a dang list at all. They just play fast, with no feeling, and that's about all they have. And it shows.

It's now 2022 and I'm back because Stevie Ray Vaughan is timeless imho and watching this video for the 100th time is just as mesmerizing as the first time I watched it...It just never gets old or boring no matter how many times I've already seen it. Reading the comments that people leave on SRV videos is a testament to the impact that Stevie made on this Earth. He literally changed the world and left it better than it was when he got here. More than three decades since his tragic death and his message is more relevant today than ever before...people of the world..WE are ALL brothers and sisters of one big family and love and forgiveness is our only hope for a better world to live in.

2024 I can never get enough.. I own a lot of his CDs. I have a couple regrets in my life very few actually: one is I didn't get to see SRV. and I have seen the best of the best except him. My younger brother who played lead guitar introduced me to SRV.. also died young. His whole band and SRV just gives it ALL THEY GOT all the time. really just blows me away. and I don't use drugs (never did) or drink. (never did).. I LOVE GREAT MUSIC.

My God I forgot how epic this is. His solo for Lookin Out The Window might be the easiest solo to play in his history as far as note-for-noting it, but LORD HAVE MERCY does he dial into the real shit. His band must have felt blessed to hear that every night while grinding out a tour.

Today's mob won't understand. It's more important to see dance moves in songs somebody else wrote that had no musicians involved. They won't see how this guy didn't actually play guitar, he managed somehow to channel everything from his heart and soul directly out an amp. Nothing he does is scripted, rehearsed or normal in any way shape or form

Jill Antrobus I mean this with all due respect; seeing that you were on the scene with all these greats, your response puzzles me. Stevie quit drinking and doing coke because he almost died while on tour in Europe from the effects that the alcohol and drugs had on his body. He chose to leave "the party", as he said, and made life and love his focus. He found Janna after getting sober. And, yes, he sounded amazing from day one but he reached a new level once he cleaned up. I consider myself lucky to have seen him and Double Trouble get inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame this past Saturday. It was a great show. Jimmie, Double Trouble and the younger cats did an amazing job honoring and playing for him.

+Jill Antrobus SRV did NOT have it together. There's a video of him talking about how he basically broke down while out on tour and had to quit to keep going or he thought he was going to die. Look up his Lone Star interview, he's so trashed and high on coke he cant even string together a proper sentence.

I like Steve. A rare charisma and personality placed at the service of his undeniable talent for music. We must thank Stevie Ray Vaughan for his existence and contribution to the Blues music. Without it, the style of much of what is done since the nineties until now, would be different. In the Eighties the Blues was a little reviled, in "crisis", after the brilliant decade of the seventies, Steve appears with his demolishing style, with his overwhelmingly disguised technique, and puts the Blues back in the place it deserves.
