- Sometimes we run into seized fan blades or fan wheels. Utilizing a fan/wheel or hub puller can help in these situations.
In this video we are using the Supco Hub Blaster to demonstrate how to use a hub puller correctly.
Here are the steps in order:
- Lubricate the hub puller threads
- Clean the motor shaft and add lubrication to the shaft
- Fasten the hub puller to the fan hub
- Break the seize between shaft and blade with a wrench
- Use an impact gun to remove the blade or wheel
**Important**
Do not use an impact gun before breaking the seized parts first. You can damage your impact gun or the hub puller.

Had a seized blower wheel recently, didn’t have an extractor, life sucked. Bought one, life no longer sucks as much and it added tons of value to my service game. Coming from install I never knew what goes in to service/maintenance but it’s definitely way more fun than installs.
Thanks bro!
Great Video. Thank you for sharing
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video
My pleasure
Good method tech
Thank you!
I’ve read some reviews that say that the 1/4 shaft snaps off during use. What are your impressions of durability? And do you think it would it be worth the investment against the FBP100 fan blade puller? Thanks for the video.
I have/use the fbp100 and use it often. I file the shaft and then sand it. I use oil. I get about a year out of it and then need to replace it. The fine point is gone after 2 or 3 uses. I have had the screw/shaft strip out, I have also had it bend. I have had the locking screws also bend. It is a real life saver and I replace it right away. I bought some hydraulic 5 ton device on Amazon for 3 times the price that the seals blew out the 2nd time I used it.The boss doesn't want us to use anything like this he wants us to cut the shaft and hammer it out from the motor side.
