John, you do such a great job interviewing these artists. Thank you so much. I really like how you ask great questions and let them do almost all of the explanation. Great show, with some really fantastic groups, I have to admit that alot of the band's I've never heard of.... This show has brought an array of great musicians to my attention! Band's like, AFI, Screaming Females (brilliant singer & guitarist) & many others! But, these 2 Band's really stand out for me! Keep up the great work....☝🤓👍

You can combine pickups in either series or parallel depending on how they are wired. You can also split the coils of a humbucker. Sounds like you are talking about parallel. You can also flip the + and -, which is polarity, and because the pickups are in different physical locations, the phase of the pickups will be different and some frequencies will cancel and some will add, which changes the tonal qualities.
Earthless is like Wow 😮 I thought at first they play something like What Acid Mother temple does but their sounds are totally different and very creative and trippy. Their midrange is so creamy and beefy and so comfortable. This guy is nice and his selected pedals are wow 😮 He is great.

saw them 3 yrs. ago ,I think, at a St. Paddy's day gig. great rock band who play an amalgam of every band they like (and I like).closed w/ a song containing lyrics (an instrumental band),'Communication Breakdown'. great show on a really cold, windy night in Harvard Sq .I can understand someone starting a band because of them.good, down to earth guys(no pun) who hung around talking afterwards .nobody rushed to go outside .nobody sober, anyway. he played the shit out of that old Strat.
Wgs, warehouse guitar speakers, are amazing!! I have a 2x12 with a retro 30 and a HM75 and the combo is amazing! They have some of the best quality and there price is really resonable

Love the look of his strat! Interesting sound, very rounded. The pedal board kind of works with that, lots of subtle different mid tone flavours which he really works in his playing of course.

Every time somebody plays a shorter scale bass people comment on how “huge” they sound like they are surprised. Shorter scale means less string tension which means bigger deeper sound, same concept as d-tuning lol
Great video! It still confuses me how he gets that gnarly, fuzzy, creamy, 'burning' sound e.g. at 13:10. At this point, the treble boost, seaweed mid boost , strymon reverb and amp gain is engaged. So the gain must come from the amp... He says that the treble boost pushes the amp to get that sound. But for me it feels as if there is a fuzz pedal hidden somewhere the whole time :D Even when he engages the seaweed fuzz, it does not seem to add much more fuzz.
For those who aren't aware, the term "treble booster" is a bad name for what a treble booster pedal does. A treble booster is really a low to mid-gain fuzz pedal with an emphasis on mid and/or high frequencies. Run one into a slightly dirty amp and it sounds like what you hear at 13:10.
Caught them last night in Barcelona. He's still playing that same strat and killing it. I'm wondering if the body was from a strat plus? Lace sensors, "graphite" nut (strat plus is powdered steel but it could be confused with graphite)...... Hhmmm 🤔

Great band!......i call that saturated sound 'sticky tone'....it sounds like you're tearing the notes apart from each other....or something.....Hendrix got that tone a lot, especially at the Isle of Wight concert.

I grew up with him. I remember him in punk bands in Leucadia. From there Earthless and now the Crowes. Freaking amazing.

honestly if you're getting a bigsby you can afford the extra 30 bucks for all the callaham upgrades. They make great trems.

Except with detuning you're also...de..tuning. so the notes are actually lower. Short scale basses sound more rubbery and loose for sure.
