    I like the update to 32-bit and two headphone jacks on the SSL2. Also, the move from RCA to TRS on the output of the SSL2+ is great for dual monitor speaker pairs. However, what I miss is the good looking signature blue knob. There is more bang, but the buck is also +46% on both these mk2 versions compared to the original ones.

    with the price only being a $10 difference I would have just had the 2+MKII and been done with it. No need for the lower version.

      Do you mean the (product) cost difference is 10$? Might be true, so yeah why split the production. The price difference is higher (at least in Eurooe).

    While technology is so advanced, they still do not add an on/off button and spidif to these cards. The technical values of the card are almost the same as before. I will continue with my Audient id24. I think it will be nothing more than a case change and a few component changes.

    • @frankymino8773

      I agree. I have the ssl2+ mk1 and in no hurry to grab the mk2. ( Moto828 as my main IO ) Don't know why ssl hold back from developing a rack mountable interface with plenty of IO including SPDIF and ADAT. If they filled that void it would be an instant sale. I'm sure plenty of others would appreciate it. Won't hold my breath.

      the amount of people that care or use spdif nowadays is very small

    • @frankymino8773
      @frankymino8773 Месяц назад

      @@Barney-ii1no I beg to differ your statistic. When using outboard components that provide optical/spdif you get optimal performance out of external hardware. It becomes a must have on an interface. There's a big difference let's say when using a mic pre (if it comes with spdif) using it's spdif out instead of sending the signal out via analog. You really get to hear the best from the hardware and sounds absolutely amazing. You don't have to push it hard to get results. To each to their own. Some hardware components come with either an option to install a digital IO card within the unit or it comes with it. There are many many studios that use spdif and won't be going away anytime soon.

      @@frankymino8773 yeah no doubt the quality is better but what I am getting at is that it is has not been included by them because I think from there perceptive they might see it as something that is a bit too Niche for these priced models, I think when it comes to more high end gear that are more expensive there is more probability of spdif being included

      I don't know how you can be sure about this, but most of my musician friends complain about the lack of spidif and standalone features on new cards.
      For example, I am an RME Adi2 pro Fs user and I want to connect SSL's preamps with spidif or ADAT. For this, I need to connect both the converter and the SSL, this is ok, considering that it works standalone, I need to enter the RME with a stereo trs. For this reason, spidif and adat are very valuable for users who use converters.
      I am sure that many people will agree with me on this issue and I don't think they are a minority. In addition, how much can a spidif or adat chip of Texas Instruments cost? I think this is like Apple iPhones still using 60hz screens.

    Nice but still no compatibility with the 360 software. It seems like as the ssl 12 has this function, this wouldn’t be so hard to do for these models. If you could get that to work then I would be interested in buying this.

    Line bypass pre amp?

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Месяц назад +1

      @zanza. Buy an Audient or (if your budget is really low) even the Behringer UMC204HD or the UMC404HD if you want to skip the interfaces micpre circuitry.
      Both of these have inserts that can be used as line inputs that bypass the built in micpreamps.
      Honestly though, most interfaces that do run the line inputs padded down through the micpreamp circuitry actually sound quite good and are not all that damaging to your signal quality so you are not gaining much by going with an interface that has pure line inputs or inserts that can be used as such.

    • @andyjackson88
      @andyjackson88 Месяц назад +2

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Месяц назад +2

      @larryt. A good sounding clean micpreamp has been cheap and easily available for many years now and crowing about your new one when it's not really better than the old one is very common audio marketing speak.
      Mackie has done this for like the last three decades, every few years claiming the micpre in the "new" mixer line was sooooo much better than the older one.
