There are many more options available for phone-based 3D scanning, such as localized 3DGS, where the 3DGS processing happens directly on your phone’s hardware through an app called Scaniverse. Another option is the Kiri Engine app, which offers object masking in both a cloud solution and a localized mode with LiDAR-assisted photogrammetry. With LiDAR, accurate scaling is possible without needing custom scaling. This app also uses a technique called Featureless 3D Scanning (via the cloud), capable of generating high-quality meshes even from objects that are challenging to scan, like transparent or reflective surfaces.
Great series! I wonder if there is software or an app so that can take Apple spatial video (it uses 2 cameras to capture stereo video + LiDAR ) and use it to capture 3D models.
I'm surprised 3d scanning seems so limited (I say, realising that a few years ago this would have been almost impossible or needed super specialised equipment). The sensors are there, the processing is there but all the methods you cover seem to have some flaw or limitation.
Thank you for this video. I’ll have to see if any of my devices will be able to 3D can. Thanks for mentioning that you do need a PC for the final steps.
I use Kiri engine to scan rooms. Other than that all 3s scanning apps including kiri are pretty useless. You can use photogrometry but its alot of work. Ended up buying the einstar scanner.
Hi @3DRevolution appreciate you using my G Splat of the metallic Heart (2:03). Can you make sure to give the proper credit next time? Much appreciated. Luma asked me to make it Public to share on their platform. Didn't realize it would be in people's RUclips videos like this 😅
Hi Josette, I'm really sorry for not crediting you in-video. I had intended to add a lower thirds but must have forgotten. I'd punched into the transitions just to avoid the UI buttons cluttering the edges of the transitions. Thank you for your comment and for your fantastic scan. Whilst I know it's not the same as an in-video credit, I've added credits for the 3rd party transitions I used in this video to the video description. (Currently I've just listed the usernames as used on Luma but let me know if you'd prefer me to tag your RUclips username). Great work with the scan by the way. Out of curiosity, could I ask what setup you used for that?
@@3DRevolution No worries, just caught me off guard when a few of my colleagues were asking me how I was affiliated with this video😅Glad to see it being used to help folks in understanding 3D scanning. I used a 10' pole with DJI gimbal shooting at 4K 30FPS, starting with the top and slowly going around to end with being underneath the heart. Took around an hour to get the perfect scan attempting 5-6 times. Hardest part always is capturing the top. Since this, I now scan using DJI Mini 4 drone to make my life easier
What did you comment and when? I've never deleted a comment off of my channel so the only things I can think of is if they contained something that was picked up by RUclipss own comment filters. Please post it again, or post it as a comment here.

I would love a comparison video of the apps including apps that require a subscription. Great video!
Excellent stuff - some of the best 3D scanning vids I've seen! Keep up the good work :)
Always a delight to watch your videos
I recently bought a P1S, it would be very helpful if you could do a comparison app on the scanner apps as well as any hardware. Thanks
Great job ! I would like to see a comparison of programs. Thinking of getting the ipad with lidar. thanks!
what would you use for scanning a vehicle?

I was waiting for this.
Where do you find the settings in Luma AI? I only see a settings icon in my profile change my username and email

How timely I was just looking into trying this on my iPad.
Why are my comments being deleted?
Is it because I mention another app?
