Awesome idea with the grill grate but the one you listed in the description was too small for the Ranger. If anyone is interested go with the 20 dollar one! 😀
Thanks for watching and the comment. I am not sure where you are doing the measuring or if you are looking to set it over the top of the Ranger when you say it is too small, the grate that I listed sits inside the lip of the Ranger and the same as listed on the Weber website www.weber.com/US/en/accessories/accessories-by-grill-type/charcoal-replacement-parts/charcoal-grate/7439.html I used the grate off my Smokey Joe and liked that it sat inside of the lid so that it could not get knocked off. There is some slight sliding but works fine and is only $12 bucks. I believe if you go with a grate for the 18 inch Weber it will sit on top of the lips, but if you want on top that is a very reasonable price as well. Thanks again for the comment and working to help folks get the most out of their Solo Stove!
The Weber grill is barely larger than the opening of the Ranger, so if you accidentally move the grill slightly to one side, it tips the food into the fire! I am considering welding a larger ring to the edge of the grate or perhaps, weld flat tabs on the outer edge of the grate, to prevent it from shifting sideways and rotating! I am just mulling over which way to go!!!!
I have seen that they have now come out with these for all the models. I think they look like they would work well with my concern for camping being the packability and additional weight.
I have an older bonfire so there may be some slight difference that you will need to measure but my rim is 19 inches diameter. The weber 18 inch grill grate looks to be too small actual size. Best bet might be to get the 22 inch grill grate and just set it on top.
Room is the biggest drawback. Every thing else you adapted to meet your needs. Thank you for the video, Dick. Stay safe and stay warm
You hit it on the head-a great fire pit but takes up more room than a pit designed for camping.
Now that's a great idea! My son has one of those so I'll have to share this with him! 👍🍻
Videos like these are what inspired solo stove to come out with the new hub and griddle accessories. Great video.
Thanks for watching and the comment-making things better is always a good outcome!
Great ideas on using the grill grate.
Thanks for watching. I was pretty surprised it fit as well as it did but certainly ups the utility of the fire pit.
I can appreciate this! I do plan to do some non-RV camping this summer.
I have never had an RV, or trailer for that matter so not sure how that would change my view of gear and such.
Great tip, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching-if you have one it makes it more useful. To date mine has been a patio queen.
great review of the stove and what you can do with it. thank you for sharing these tips. God bless, stay safe and healthy
Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks for checking it out and appreciate the sub! I am glad you liked the content.
Do you find the grate when placed on the Solo Stove to be too close to the flame?
I don’t but I only really cook when the flame has died down and there is a bed of embers. Thanks for dropping by.

Yes, it is a good fit but not a perfect fit-your ideas sound like they would work really well. Let us know which way you go and how it works!
Check out the new hub by solo and their new heat deflector for any size fire pit

What size could you use for the bonfire?

Try a Breeo. It is made in America from American labor and has accessories.
I have seen those and think they look great.
