Beautiful! The drill press is coming in handy. That front bumper just blew my mind. I like that you threw in a tip. I showed all the kids and explained what you are doing. Both the boys said at the same time-- "So he made a stretch RC?" I said "Yep!" Your client is going to love this.
Sure is!! I haven't touched a hand drill since I got that thing! lol Ha, I was hoping some people would like the tip... it was one of those "light-bulb" moments for me! That's awesome! lol, I hope he will man! Thanks for popping by, I always appreciate your comments! :) Merry Christmas bro!
Hey man!! Glad you could see it and enjoy! I appreciate the comment - I've been tried hard to find ways to incorporate exactly what you just stated, so I'm super pumped that you enjoyed them in this! I'll shoot off some new pics of the front bumper to you know that you've seen it in the vid ;) Merry Christmas my friend!
@ Ricky Driver ... technically yes! I will probably make a Disco eventually but not for a little while longer. Depending on what model you want there are some Disco-3s on ebay that come up occasionally. Made by New Bright. Cheers!
HI,subbed, for your bumper! Wicked, and just wanted to say, you are ingenious and rare this day n age(im old),,,,,,,,,,you are bloody good at this. A few more quid/dollars and cnc cutting equipement and you are up there with the manufacturers. Thanks for sharing. Credit also to your camera "person"!
Thank you Terry! Building, video, editing all by myself, glad you enjoyed it! Not into RC anymore really, but worth checking out our triumph gt6 rebuild series if you are interested. Cheers!
Awesome product especially with the lack of tools you have. You should invest in an upright band saw that would speed up loads of the work. Just a though on the safety front, I manage and engineering business and I would not allow anyone to use grinders with gloves on, it they catch they can then easily pull your hand in and do a lot of damage. Up to you but at least if you have the knowledge you can make you own mind up. Good work, now gonna watch the rest. I would love to get my hands on a 90 kit if you have the link. Thanks. Lee.
Thanks Lee, I appreciate your kind words. Yes, a band saw would be wonderful to have someday... not really possible right now for space reasons though, but it's on my want list for as soon as I get a larger shop. I've never had an issue with wearing gloves at a grinder, but I can understand your concern (especially with old grubby ones like I was wearing in this video) The Gelande II is available at RC4WD(dot)com ... I'm not associated with them at all, but was pretty impressed with the kit on the whole. Take care, and Happy New Year!
Now this is awesome bro. I'm blown away by your details your putting into this. Sorry I didn't comment sooner on this. Thumbs up my friend. Keep up the wonderful job!
really impressed with the work done, I have the same defender 110 scale 1 with some equipments similar I just tell you that any details are respected. Congratulations
dude, you are a real genius out there.. Great engineering works mate ! i wish u could build some bumpers accessories for my 1/10 LR3 one day :P really impressive job there. 2 THUMBS UP FOR YA MATE ...
Haha! Thanks for all the comments, and the subscription man! I'll try to answer your questions in one reply! The welder is a flux-core from Mastercraft. Average, but does the job till I get a MIG. I'm not making a living at this yet, but I'm hoping to turn it into a part time job. The plastic sheets I used are "styrene". Google that and you'll find loads of info. If you want to learn more about modeling, definitely consider joining scale4x4rc forum / and/or ScaleBuildersGuild forum. There are many great and talented builders on there, and you can learn a lot by just reading through the threads. Cheers mate, and take care!
Probably not!! I'd have to ship it now for it to be there then, and we're not ready for that yet I'm afraid! If you're planning to go to the UK again later though, you should see if lowrangers2012 is available! ;) Thanks for popping on by my friend!! It's very appreciated - Merry Christmas to you!! :)
Wow,,, You really did a good job on it friend..... I am planning to build also like this, but I dont have that skills like yours... maybe I should work more and get the gelande 2... I am starting to like Land Rover since my LR3 build... keep them coming.... Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.... :)
Thank you my friend! Skills are made with practice - I'm sure you can do this stuff if you give it a go man! Me too actually, too bad that Defenders are so rare over here in Canada... Merry Christmas to you too Jepy! May it be great!! :~)
fantastic, i hope you are keeping all your templates and build info, because everybody is going to want you to build them a truck, Starting with me :) let me know when your ready to build for me.
Hey thanks Ray! Awesome to hear from you! I've got a waiting list that I can put you on man... won't be for a while I can assure you, but you're on there nonetheless! Feel free to shoot an email to: mrrcfanatik@gmail.com and send some pics of what you are thinking. Cheers!
I can build for anyone. It's just something I do on the side, so I'm selective on what I would like to take on... but if there's something you want me to build for you, shoot an email my way and I'll try to get back! Cheers!
Actually, that's an old kit that was discontinued a while ago - it's only just now that they've reintroduced it. My client and I looked into both that kit, and the one from RCmodelex, but decided we didn't like the quality of them (see video part 1) ... so we used the G2 as the base in order to get all the fantastic running gear. This truck is light-years better than the 110 kit that RC4WD offers, but is also a bit more money. We decided it was worth it for the end result. Thanks for watching.
Haha! Well I'm in Canada, so it's a bit more difficult to buy from HF because of shipping/importing, but yes, I totally need to get a band saw someday! That little guy you linked looks pretty nice, I read a couple people used it for cutting aluminum, but it looks like it may be undersized for steel. Most of the reviews were cutting wood. I'll probably wait a bit longer and just get something a bit more substantial! But thanks for the help man! :)
Hey great to hear from you Froggy! A very happy New Year to you too!! Ha!- as for the "anything I can't build.." bit, I'd like to say "no"! And the plan is someday to be able to say that... It's all down to what tools you have in the end.... and those consume a lot of a thing call cash! lol Thanks for commenting my friend, hope you're keeping well!
@ Ricky Driver .. it's ok man! If all goes according to plan, I'm going to be producing small batches of a few different bodies. A Disco 1 is on the list to do, as well as the D110 and possibly a Ford F-series truck. More to come at a later time if it goes well and there is demand. If you want to chat more feel free to email me (mrrcfanatik@gmail.com) Cheers!
In the beginning of this video you saw me using Google Sketchup. Great free program, and can be a lot of fun to fool around with. I also dabble with Solid Works, but Sketchup was all I needed for making a quick model of the bumper. Cheers!

Hey man!! Glad you could see it and enjoy! I appreciate the comment - I've been tried hard to find ways to incorporate exactly what you just stated, so I'm super pumped that you enjoyed them in this!
I'll shoot off some new pics of the front bumper to you know that you've seen it in the vid ;)
Merry Christmas my friend!

How much would it cost to build a land rover 90 woth a metal roll cage
@ Ricky Driver ... uh, this thing is no where near done bro! Snorkel will come soon enough! Cheers!
Would you be able to make a landrover discovery body?
now on the RC4WD website they a new 110 land rover kit
Actually, that's an old kit that was discontinued a while ago - it's only just now that they've reintroduced it. My client and I looked into both that kit, and the one from RCmodelex, but decided we didn't like the quality of them (see video part 1) ... so we used the G2 as the base in order to get all the fantastic running gear. Harbor freight is your friend!! Buy A BAND SAW and High Speed Metal Saw $19.00
Haha! Well I'm in Canada, so it's a bit more difficult to buy from HF because of shipping/importing, but yes, I totally need to get a band saw someday! Is there anything you can't build? Ex username... Froggy82... Happy new year mate.
Hey great to hear from you Froggy! A very happy New Year to you too!! Ha!- as for the "anything I can't build.." bit, I'd like to say "no"! And the plan is someday to be able to say that... It's all down to what tools you have in the end.... and those consume a lot of a thing call cash! lol

Loving?!?!? Lol I meant living.
Thanks again man I probably will email you if that's alright
hi what program did you use for the 3d drawing MrRcFanatik
Hi Lane, I used Google Sketchup. It's a pretty decent, free program!
@ Ricky Driver ... feel free :)
Full metal?
What 3d program are you using?
In the beginning of this video you saw me using Google Sketchup. Great free program, and can be a lot of fun to fool around with. I also dabble with Solid Works, but Sketchup was all I needed for making a quick model of the bumper.
Cheers!
What scale is it
1/10 scale ... pretty big model when it was done!
Hallo 1:10 scale defender
Did you get my email?
