Huh, hey did we leave this collector booster locked in my desk for a reason. Huh, I guess I will just keep it. That one of one ring is technically in circulation right ;)
@@WeedgokuBonerhitler Normally in these types of contest, someone who doesn't even know the value of the prize gets it. But since Collector Boosters are so much, I doubt that will happen here.
Actually this whole situation with the Lotr set is the biggest flavour win! We have a dark lord (Hasbro) who created a bunch of rings (cards) promising beauty, status and power. “But they were, all of them deceived, for another Ring was made.(…) A master Ring, to control all”. And into this Ring Hasbro poured its greed and its will to dominate all wallets. “One Ring to rule them all.” We are living the Lotr story as the humans. This way, the ring temptation mechanic is actually on point - from our viewpoint, there is no downside to using the ring. The downside of “being tempted by the ring” is not in game but instead in our own behaviour as players/collectors. We are all being tempted by Hasbro and its 1 of 1 Ring card. And yes, in this scenario the Middle-Earth enterprises is our Isildur, they should have known better! Tolkien’s work is as relevant as ever, showing us, now in person, what greed and thirst of power can do to people. 😉
well for those who are here from the future: it was found in Canada and graded as the real deal by PSA grading, it was found in the middle of June in a Collector Booster and not the bundle, and yes the prices of unopened boxes are dropping
As a yugioh player getting into Magic over the last couple of months, the one thing I’ve noticed is it seems like wizards loves to be really aggressive and predatory with how they package label and deliver the product to the consumers. The fact that we need full on video guides to tell us which product version has which cards in it is horrible way to run a business well unless you’re trying to guarantee profits over everything so I guess hasbro is killing it then 😂
@@TheChadarad lol, you’re probably right, I’ve been mostly just playing commander and trying to build some cheap and fun decks. I will say the Lord of the rings sealed product did get me and I probably won’t buy any more magic sealed because I felt like shit after. Lol
It wasn't always this way. For many years they prided themselves on clarity. Only in the last like 3 years have they decided it's better to confuse players. (Although it feels like longer because they do it so much now.)
For real dude. And coming from the land of short prints, random reprints, meaningless side sets, and "in a few months"... for us to be frustrated with a card game is wild.
More weirdness to note: Any cards in extended art that would potentially come in foil are only available in the collector booster sample packs that come with commander precons. They aren't in collector booster packs. At all. Zero. Nada. None. Because of this, most of the EA foil prices are extravagantly high.
It grows more and more difficult to keep track of every day, and I think that is by design: can't warn people not to buy something if you can't understand what any of it even is.
Because of this there are also many private sellers advertising their cards as “box toppers” when they are actually just the regular foil versions of those cards. It’s a world of confusion right now for both the seller and the consumer. I feel very strongly that a lot of people are going to be scammed through this set and I only hope that people do their research/watch videos like this to make themselves aware of a cards “true value” and to triple check the products currently available to them.
I seriously hope whoever does find it confirms the legitimacy of it with wotc then throws that fucker into a fireplace and films it sending it to wotc throwing a middle finger
Speaking as someone who could very, very easily have issues with gambling and likely was trained by MTG and pokemon in this regard, that doesn't really make it better.
so technically mtg doesnt choose the price of the cards opn the open market or which ones become popular. they also dont sell the booster boxes for the marked up prices. distributors and game stores do. so theyre "innocent" (i cant put enough quotes around that word so i wont even try)
Yeah, at this point I feel like MtG is trying to get away from being taxed as a gambling revenue lottery by printing their own "money". 2 mil for a card that costs them less than a dollar to make is ridiculous. In reality it has the same rarity as any one original painting from any artist ever. This is almost as bad as NFTs were.
I actually enjoy the Jumpstart packs not for their worth but they are fun to play…it’s like the old Welcome decks you get for free when you get started
Thanks for the comment. I doubted if I should attend the Jumpstart event with a friend of mine because the Professor said we shouldn't buy them, but your comment saved it. If it is fun to play, that's all it needs to be! Thanks!
I'm certain LOTR will be the best selling magic set of all time, which will only change the direction of product design moving forward. Secret Lair had it's own ethical issues, but this is the first time I've felt that Magic isn't a place for me anymore. Not because of expense, I have to money to play... but I feel beyond icky about how the company views and treats their consumers.
@@Alessandro-mg9ohThis is the real issue. We can complain to no end but so long as the product is being purchased then WOTC is doing exactly as they set out to. I still don’t think the 30th anniversary scandal or the Pinkerton’s has really had any negative effect on them.
As a diehard LotR fan. . .the set honestly felt lacking to me. . .couple that with deliberately confusing making. . .yeah, my and my husband already decided to skip this set. There MIGHT be a single or two down the line, but we almost never buy singles so, it's not likely.
LTR is a fun set. Prerelease was great, the Commander precons are awesome, one or two cards will see Modern play without breaking the format, some interesting cards for Pauper, and of course plenty of EDH fodder. This lottery is an unwelcome distraction, but for once I'm glad collector boosters exist so they can do stuff like this in a separate product that people like me don't have to care about.
Other card games: A nice box with neatly arranged cards and booster packs, and perhaps a trinket or two that can be snuck into a D&D game. Magic: Have you watched Willy Wonka?
I will say that the commander decks have a disclaimer at the bottom of the box saying that this product does not contain the one of one ring. So possibly that same disclaimer is on the bottom of any other bundles, boxes, or the fold on packs.
The singles market is going to be amazing for non-collectors and even casual collectors. Can get all the alternate/full art I want because people only care about serialized cards or commander reprints. People are cracking so many collectors that the full art foil lands should be cheap to pick up. Only thing currently crazy is the Nazgul prices but those will come down.
Did you watch Profs last video of the Set Booster Box game? SO MANY 25 CENT RARES HOLY CATS. Even the only card iIm absolutely getting 4 of, a new, hot combo piece, Rosie Cotton, was 35 cents for a foil full art. This set is geared for gamblers, and PLAYERS wallets rejoice. Nice $13k sol ring dude, get 50 cent combo'd.
I had the same thought. The only sealed I’m buying are the Commander decks, I’ll be able to get an assload of singles for the price of even a draft booster box*. *ah, when there was only one type of booster box…
thank you for clarifying this professor, i miss the days where we had just a few different products and didn't need a PowerPoint presentation just to understand what is in what lol
If the ring gets opened up in a supplementary product, seems like a shady setup and, to my understanding, could be a lawsuit along the lines of false advertisement or something. It definitely will feel scummy if they did this.
Nothing ever happened to McDonald's when they were running their Monopoly Game scam. They always knew where the Boardwalk piece went and the only random element was who got it the day it was delivered. They never released it into the wind and never to a random location; it was always picked in advance and that was never advertised.
Just started playing this past year with my son who has been playing for about 20 years. I would have purchased the wrong cards if not for your informative videos! Thank you!
i feel like The One Ring isnt even in the wild yet. they might hold it till near the end of the printing, then put it into circulation. keeps hype high so people keep buying packs
I remember Wizards saying that the One Ring would be put into a booster in the initial release. The second wave of lotr product printed would not have it.
Thing is eventually hype dies down, but the major searchers will still want it. If i cracked it (hahahahaha) I wouldn't report it until the preauctions hit higher.
Man, I'm happy I preordered a gift bundle at $80 when they were first announced. I did do a pre-release and picked up a set booster box, and between them I got pretty much everything I wanted. Yeah, not every mythic or rare and missing an uncommon or two, but pretty much all I need to put together some cool LotR-themed decks. As a new-to-MTG player it was ridiculously confusing trying to figure out what to buy though.
I stopped playing around 2000. Mid-2010s, the Secret Lairs somehow brought the game back to my attention. Universes Beyond convinced me to sell off my cards of any value.
Except for the coma I did. I left in 2001 or 2002 while seventh was out but not eight edition. and returned in 2014 for Khans and left in hour of devastation to return in adventures in the forgotten realms. I can't imagine going from Khans to lotr. Jesus.
Then you’re imagining my life since last September. Lol. And make that 20 years. Happy to say my first event back was the LOTR prerelease and I hit 4 different stores that weekend and actually won 2 out of 3 rounds at my last store.
I feel like Wizards is potentially going to land itself in legal troubles because of the purposefully convoluted way they are handling this set in order to drive sales.
Remember when D&D was owned by TSR, then WOTC bought them and turned it into a million book set that was released once a year? Oh wait..., isn't that what they've done to MTG too?
@kiillabytez back when wizards of the coast got the rights to DnD, TSR had gone bankrupt. Back then wizards was also still just a company run by a bunch of nerds who shared a passion for tabletop games. It's unfortunate however that wizards of the coast is now a shell of its former self.
I love magic, love my LGS, love my fellow players. I HATE WOTC and Hasbro for what they’ve done to this beautiful game. I hope there is a huge change soon.
Singles are the best we can do, but that also means no commander precons. Not like they have much value to keep up with powercrept tables. Prof has good advice in the end.
Im such a LOTR simp that I started buying these cards without knowing anything about MTG. That landed me on your videos and now me and my daughter are learning the game with traditional cards and im just buying my favorite singles from the LOTR set. And HELL YES that evens means black Aragorn! Thanks for the upload man! Your videos rule!
Im actually pretty excited to download whatnot and watch your stream, Professor. You've always provided A++ content and humor. You've always looked out for the average MtG consumer. One of, if not, the best MtG RUclips channels out there
I just drafted this set tonight, I think I got my value's worth, even if my deck stunk, but I had fun regardless. I pulled a horn of Gondor and a delighted halfling and a Boromir, warden of the tower extended art. just those last 2 cards pay for my draft by themselves
At pre-release for my LGS they were just hard pushing people to the 40 dollar box if all you want is a ring. The owner was like "you ain't getting the ring. If you want one save your money and just get one from this box."
Worst part about the plethora of confusing products available is that this set definitely brings in more casual or totally new players. You can even see it by the number of reddit posts that read basically "New player here, confused about the LotR set, don't know what to buy"
You are totally correct my friend. Found too early = lack of sales. Confusing aspects = more sales. There will be one lucky person to find it in the proper bundle, especially if they release later. It's "smart" marketing on their part.
I live in Sweden and a pre order costs about 850kr-1000kr which is about the same as 85$-100$ and when I saw these really high prices I was really surprised.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm not a MTG player but all this talk of the 1:1 One Ring card really piqued my interest. I dug around the official MTG website and was pretty confused about how to even possibly get a booster pack with a chance of getting that card. Of course, after realizing that the Collector Sets are going for 300-400 I realized that I can't actually afford any of it anyway. But I still appreciate someone taking the time to put out this kind of information regardless! ❤
At 1:27, the gilding looks surprisingly real to the WOTC reveal video. No weird rainbow foil all over and raised gold edges. Are we sure that sketchy email is all hot air?
Yea. It looks real. Imagine showing the real One Ring to the whole world, opened on or before June 16, and laughing about it being fake. Gilding like that hasn't been duplicated by counterfeiters and you can even see the raised, gilded text on the ring itself.
Just want to say as someone coming back to mtg after a couple of years I love the lotr cards and artwork. I only started buying the cards two weeks ago but already my kids and I have played over 30 times. I bought a normal bundle and gift bundle for the cool boxes and countdown dies. Maybe I am in the minority but it is cool to mix two of my favorite nerdy things mtg and lotr.
I also picked up a draft pack yesterday to play with my friends and when I checked out at Walmart I noticed it was $17.50. that's crazy the "bulk" price being almost $6 just to play the basic game is outrageous... I want to pick up one of each variation of this set from draft packs and boxes to set and collectors in every way they release it to keep in my collection forever but I want to send them a message by not buying anything
I agree that some aspects of WotC's product marketing are confusing, and I'm glad you shined a light on it. My (maybe not so) hot take on the 1/1 Ring location, though: By making the choice to put it in a Gift Bundle rather than a standard Collector Booster box, WotC is playing with fire. I think they're a lot smarter than that. They've publicly stated it can be found in a CB box or a gift bundle. If it in fact cannot be found in a CB box, some number of WotC employees know this. And if a single one of them leaks - accidentally or on purpose - WotC could be staring down the barrel of a $100M+ class action lawsuit (just based on the rough number of CB boxes printed). They are already getting a crap-ton of publicity from this. LOTR boxes are selling like mad. Why shoot themselves in the foot with a dumb scandal when they can be honest and still make loads of money?
This comment is here to remind you that Wizards themselves sold 4 random booster packs of proxies for $1000 in "celebration" of the 30th anniversary of the game.
I don't have access to playing IRL with real people (I live in the countryside and Magic enthusiasts in my country don't even play cube) so I just play online with a bunch of Americans and Europeans. I'd never give a single penny of my money to these scoundrels.
good video. but I'm sorry to see that everyone is aiming for money and they never talk about buying something even just because it's beautiful. the 4 bundles with paintings are beautiful and worth the price. A hug
Da missus and I enjoy cracking packs together since '97. With that in mind, the bundles are a neat way to get started on seeing just what is in a set before grabbing a new set/booster box of the set.
I used to absolutely love MTG. I was so enamored by it, and would never miss a chance to play (FNM, casual, or otherwise) but ever since Throne of Eldraine it all just got zapped away. Occasionally I look back and watch a video on new MTG stuff but then I see stuff like this ring or the 30th fiasco and it just drives me further away. I went to Yu-Gi-Oh and while not perfect by any stretch, Konami are slam dunking on Wizards right now. The game is really fun for me, and between their reprints and what they are giving us for their 25th anniversary this year, like their '25th anniversary pack it's a great time to play and their bigger tournaments like their "YCS"'s are breaking all time attendance records lately. It's a shame but I just don't think my love will be the same for MTG, the bridge is all but nearly burnt.
I had the whole fake jumpstart thing happen and I also definitely thought the commander deck I bought had a collector pack and was like “oh cool what’s a sample pack?” . Definitely some predatory stuff.
I really wanted to buy a bundle, but where I live the prices have been ticking up to €100 for 1 bundle 😮 so i just bought everything I wanted for my commander decks and only spent about €35
I am glad that i am selling my collection and not looking back. The game I loved for over half my life died over the last 5 years for good for me personally
I've always loved your content, but I gotta say that after trying Whatnot myself I've found it to be very predatory. I've kinda been taken off guard by all the Whatnot promotions on the channel lately. It seems even more strange on a video like this where you are warning people about being taken advantage of.
@@LazerpawX7 the site makes it way too easy to continue to dump money with the click of a button like a slot machine. The bidding system is also predatory because there is no delay or way to back out of a bid from when you enter a dollar amount and hit bid. This can lead to accidentally over bidding for items. I'm not attacking anyone here these are just my thoughts/feelings towards the platform.
I agree it is way too easy to spend too much work n whatnot and that most MTG games, etc are designed for the store to win. I wouldn't say they are predatory. They are mostly straight forward with the details. Is just the gambling nature of boosters.
@@JavierOrtizBultron I'm more referencing the way the platform is designed. It doesn't make it very clear or easy to come back from an accidental bid. I also see so many streams where people are selling a booster pack for $50 and a "chance to win" which is 100% predatory on the sellers part and Whatnot just allows that to continue. This is a good discussion either way and I am glad people are interested in having a conversation about this.
At this point I’ve accepted they’ll get away with pretty much whatever they want. You’d think by now the FTC would’ve stepped in regarding misleading and predatory tactics. Much like they have with loot boxes in video games. But if they haven’t done anything about it yet: I doubt they will.
They’ve been proven how absolutely scummy they can be over the last couple of years but morons keep buying into all of it and let it go. Only but singles and only packs when drafting, that’s all I ever do now.
@@TheChadarad oh I get that. But it’s the same with loot boxes. They didn’t step in to deal with that because people weren’t buying them. They stepped in because the practice was scummy.
@chadsmith4450 and please tell me, if you only buy singles and say that people who buy sealed product are idiots... where do you think singles come from exactly? And what does that make of you?
Prof has become essential to mtg and then some. Wizards is a successful company, thus they know how to fool their consumers into spending money. Be aware when buying products. Teach your kids about this!
Very glad you're pointing out all this intentionally misleading packaging, Prof! It really reminds me of the shady stuff food companies do, like saying something is "made with X" when X is the tiniest speck of the product but legally, they aren't lying. It's a big reason I refuse to engage with this product at all.
Thank you for opening the bundle!!!! Thank you!! i thought i would have the nice basic lands from lord of the ring that look like map pieces :( but is is just normal basic lands. What a shame i think the map pieces look really nice.
Kinda of satisfying you were wrong about the one of one ring being released later. I got my unopened collector box for $380, gonna keep it for 20 years and enjoy having it in my collection and sell later. Nothing wrong with investing.
I have had such a great time incorporating so many LotR card in my existing commander decks as well as playing with the pre-con decks from the set. It's sad that the 1 ring is still going to dampen so much of the conversation for so long because there's so much cool stuff to love from this set and I'm not even focusing on the ring tempting you bit even that is cool imo.
I am a first time consumer of MTG because of LotR. And I am not confused by any of it or the "6" bundles. And that's because I knew a lot of things would be confusing. So I went to their website where they plainly state EXACTLY where the one ring would be. I didn't even know commander decks had sample packs and wasn't confused by the wording at all. Slightly confusing, yes. But that's for someone who has literally done no research and walks into a LCS and buys a draft pack and expects to get serialized cards
Honestly states should start treating Magic like a lottery. It's clearly addictive like playing the lottery and that could be problematic for some people.
When pre-orders first became available, I decided to buy the gift bundles because at first, they were a good value at $85. I was not prepared to pay over $350 for a collector box.
@@pascalsimioli6777 When stores are having trouble keeping supply. . .sometimes Pre-Ordering is the ONLY way to even get a chance at owning the product. The Original Warhammer deck print our game store only ordered enough for their pre-orders, we had to go elsewhere. They were two weeks late getting their Jumpstart boxes.
Wizards went from "We won't have chase cards anymore as it promotes gambling" Only to add a 1/1 card in a set where it will be foggy for anyone not actively hunting for the card in question to have a chance of finding it.
Yep… I only buy pokemon cards in Japan now. You can get a whole booster box for 50$+/- and actually get good pulls. Yeah the cards are worth less, but I don’t care about the value of the cards. I just like completing sets.
I used your code for whatnot and I got alot of commanders my lgs didn't have. The biggest buy was a Graded SLD rhystic study for $5 after you credit was applied :) thanks 13:28
thank you for clarifying this. I only recently joined the magic community due to being a die hard fan of tolkien and already interested in magic but this made irresistible lol. that being said it was a tough to learn it all but thanks to all your help i feel like i may actually stand a chance at my local store's tournament that i signed up for on impulse of buying my elven council commander pack. So again thank you very much
I'd just like to say I have no idea where you're finding the standard Bundle for $40 but neither my LGS nor big box stores like Target & Walmart are selling it below $64.99-$69.99. Makes me so sad cause I really want a Bundle for my collection but I REFUSE to pay an extra $20 for literally no reason. 😢
Are the lord of the rings bundles good if i want to make a commander deck? Or is there a better option to get packs to make a deck? (Im a newer player to magic, i started last summer and i wanted to start making my own decks out of packs)
I miss when MTG was focused primarily on making a great game with a great story rather than shoving as many products at us as possible. Opening packs used to feel like I was slowly discovering a new story, and that I was in some way a part of that story, but now they really just don't put much effort at all into the story or worldbuilding, and this set is by far the worst example of this. They haven't even put in the effort to make any story, they just bought the rights to one they knew people bould pay for.
The regular bundle sounds nice since it already has the Panorama Ring, at a $40-$45 range. Unfortunately I've seen the regular bundle and the Commander Decks at Walmart for almost $70.
This set just is so odd in the sense that for players of the game who aren't that interested in the collecting/investing side of the game it's fantastic. Lots of cool new cards, with great flavour, excellent precons and most importantly relatively cheap cards if you don't go for the fancy alternates; and in some cases even the fancy alternates!
I’m a Pokémon collector/player at heart, but this 1/1 situation is awesome to see unfold, thanks for the info! Also just for the record, I would love to see Maxmoefoe open the 1/1 ring just for the slight chance that he would actually throw it in a fire.
If any1 wondering the “2mill ring” hasn’t been released yet & wont be release for couple more weeks/a month until they’re happy with sells. & when they do “send the card out” it’ll be to a “close friend” either portrayed as a “random ordinary person” or a breaker
I am brand new to Magic: The Gathering and i love collecting cards and Lord of the Rings. So I'm only interested in the actual set and not the 1/1 ring card. What products would be the best to buy to get a complete collection of the set?
And this is why we buy all of our cards on this channel's sponsor, Card Kingdom, where we don't have to consider whether Jumpstart, Jumpstart V2, Jumpstart Supreme Overlord Set Collector Booster Series, or Start Jump is the set or card we want! We know exactly what we're buying every single time.
Theres another reason the 1/1 ring being in a gift bundle is beneficial to WotC: It (theoretically) means its more likely to be opened by a regular person. If the community hadn't figured out that it was likely the ring was in one of those bundles, it would have probably sold for around what previous gift bundles with collectors boosters have sold for (probably a bit more, since everything in the LotR set is pricier). It also wouldn't have been mass box opened by stores or targeted by collectors. Gift bundles are historically not a great value product and typically bought as gifts for magic player by unsuspecting non magic player. Imagine how much better a story it would be for some random person to open the ring, as opposed to a rich collector or store (what we're all expecting). Unfortunately for WotC, the theory that its in a gift bundle took off, the price of the bundles skyrocketed, and now its back to being priced so high that the only people who will buy it will be collectors looking for the ring. Also, as of the posting of this video, the regular bundles are going for $70-80 it looks like. Even on pre-release friday, my LGS had them at $60. I never saw them that cheap (I don't think the regular sets had bundles that cheap for a while now, I've been seeing them in the $45-50 range for several sets now). The inflated price is partially due to the extra group of collectors (lotr fans) that wouldn't normally buy the product, plus it comes with a guaranteed copy of "the one ring" (not the 1/1 ring, just the game piece) as part of the scene cards, and even that version is going for like $20 on the secondary market.

Huh, hey did we leave this collector booster locked in my desk for a reason. Huh, I guess I will just keep it. That one of one ring is technically in circulation right ;)
This has been my guess since day one, basically. If it doesn't get opened by a top name streamer I am going to be absolutely shocked.

Actually this whole situation with the Lotr set is the biggest flavour win!
We have a dark lord (Hasbro) who created a bunch of rings (cards) promising beauty, status and power. “But they were, all of them deceived, for another Ring was made.(…) A master Ring, to control all”.

“One Ring to rule them all.”
We are living the Lotr story as the humans.

As a yugioh player getting into Magic over the last couple of months, the one thing I’ve noticed is it seems like wizards loves to be really aggressive and predatory with how they package label and deliver the product to the consumers. The fact that we need full on video guides to tell us which product version has which cards in it is horrible way to run a business well unless you’re trying to guarantee profits over everything so I guess hasbro is killing it then 😂
You’ve still got time, get the hell out and go back to yugioh. I would never recommend someone get into magic now
@@TheChadarad lol, you’re probably right, I’ve been mostly just playing commander and trying to build some cheap and fun decks. I will say the Lord of the rings sealed product did get me and I probably won’t buy any more magic sealed because I felt like shit after. Lol
Exactly. The 15 different LOTR products is bamboozling to me, I have no idea what the hell to even touch.
The amount of money you have saved me over the years with your videos is amazing. Thanks for everything you do Prof!
This needs more attention. It’s absolutely insane
What does this mean in regards to box toppers which are EA foil, can those be pulled in collector boosters?

I'm having a hard time thinking MTG isn't gambling when they have lotto cards worth more than most lotto wins.
at leas there theres a ton of consolation prizes
Speaking as someone who could very, very easily have issues with gambling and likely was trained by MTG and pokemon in this regard, that doesn't really make it better.
@@donniebankoebarkie7916 Not sure any other cards will sell for the £200-£300+ you might be spending for some of these collector boxes though.
so technically mtg doesnt choose the price of the cards opn the open market or which ones become popular. they also dont sell the booster boxes for the marked up prices. distributors and game stores do. so theyre "innocent" (i cant put enough quotes around that word so i wont even try)
Not because of expense, I have to money to play... but I feel beyond icky about how the company views and treats their consumers.
everyone's complaining yet everyone's buying the products
@@Alessandro-mg9ohThis is the real issue. We can complain to no end but so long as the product is being purchased then WOTC is doing exactly as they set out to. I still don’t think the 30th anniversary scandal or the Pinkerton’s has really had any negative effect on them.

Love the casual DS9 reference, to one of the best episodes ever.
Other card games: A nice box with neatly arranged cards and booster packs, and perhaps a trinket or two that can be snuck into a D&D game.
Magic: Have you watched Willy Wonka?
lol
I will say that the commander decks have a disclaimer at the bottom of the box saying that this product does not contain the one of one ring. So possibly that same disclaimer is on the bottom of any other bundles, boxes, or the fold on packs.
Ah yeah, the bottom. Certainly the first place i look for package content lists and labels.
I really love that you are the biggest MTG channel on RUclips, because that means that this important message is reaching the most people possible
Thank you for breaking this down, you helped saved me money 😅👍
The 8 pack bundle actually seems pretty decent because the one ring is really good and getting a free one seems nice
Yup, loving the singles market right now. People complaining about the price of the set I’m just like “ok…don’t buy a box then”
I was hoping people we make all cards minus serialized to be consider "chaff". Yes I would like to pick up the singles i want for dirt cheap.
Or just print them. My The Ruinous Powers deck is better now that I've printed more demons and put them in.
I had the same thought. The only sealed I’m buying are the Commander decks, I’ll be able to get an assload of singles for the price of even a draft booster box*.

If the ring gets opened up in a supplementary product, seems like a shady setup and, to my understanding, could be a lawsuit along the lines of false advertisement or something. It definitely will feel scummy if they did this.
They advertised it as being in the gift bundle, they have plausible deniability. Nothing will come of it.
The problem is there is not really a way to prove it was intentionally put into a bundle since it was advertised as random
I guarantee you they covered their legal bases when they went into this.
@@AeileonNOTWI like the theory that it'll be in a gift bundle so it can come in it's own protective case. Can't have that in a random booster pack.

They are already under investigation in the E.U. for unloyal practices.
@kiillabytez back when wizards of the coast got the rights to DnD, TSR had gone bankrupt. Back then wizards was also still just a company run by a bunch of nerds who shared a passion for tabletop games. It's unfortunate however that wizards of the coast is now a shell of its former self.

Totally agree. Maybe reply to that email!?
Yea. It looks real. Imagine showing the real One Ring to the whole world, opened on or before June 16, and laughing about it being fake. Gilding like that hasn't been duplicated by counterfeiters and you can even see the raised, gilded text on the ring itself.
It kind of amazes me that the collector booster box is still north of $500 since the 1/1 has actually been found.
This level of confusing competing products is absolutely not by coincidence.
Top tier Professor Commentary, thank you for taking the time with this one.
Normally draft packs are just $12.50 a little over $4 each. A 50% increase is a smack in the face.
The more I see Hasbro be sketchy AF like this the more I want to buy more wish proxies lol

I am brand new to Magic: The Gathering and i love collecting cards and Lord of the Rings. So I'm only interested in the actual set and not the 1/1 ring card. What products would be the best to buy to get a complete collection of the set?
this is some 4D chess marketing from wizards. Gotta give them respect for money out of thin air.
I'm sad as we probably won't have service on Friday. Western Alaska problems. Love catching your streams 0:46
Thanks Prof. was genuinely looking for these answers online about everything. Saved me and my bank account.
