good video, absolutely no need to go as far as removing the logic board and top assembly of the phone though. just undoing the bottom 2 lockdown screws (2:45) allows you to lift the board up enough to slide the charge port flex out and get the new one in.
this video helped me so much!! spent the whole day yesterday working on my phone and this video was so helpful, and i was just hoping i was doing everything right grant it i’m not tech savvy and this was my first time, but push came to shove and my phone had been dead for a couple months because the charger port was damaged 🙃 but it’s working great now and it wouldn’t be if i didn’t watch this video
I replaced everything cautiously and now my phone has been stuck on apple boot logo UPDATE: i was disassembling everything ready to put back in the old one but i just decided to give everything on more try because the connection didnt seem so good so i made sure the connection was good and it came to my suprise when i hooked everything together it turned on so for any of you guys planning on doing this make sure the connection is lined up properly ( 9:12 )

I'm about to try my attempt to fix my iPhone. Since I'm having issues with the charging port where I have to position the cable in a certain way to get it to even charge (I know it's not an issue with my cable or the AC adapter since my iPad shows no issues when I use the same adapter and cables), I've sort of lived for it with months though now it's gotten to the point where when it's plugged in, yet it's not charging (Battery indicator shows a lighting bolt, yet doesn't charge and the percentage goes down instead of up). I'm sort of resorting to the DIY method since I don't trust having the people at Best Buy look at my phone. Is there a way to organize the screws since I'm afraid that I'd loose track of what screw goes where?
I got the same issue, my guess is that oxidation of material and dust on the gold conductors on the charging port are bad or even loose as is pushed into the phone, very common if you use your phone while charging
Hi bro, i had 2 problems with my i phone 7 plus (Not charging and the headphone not working) , then i have replaced the hole charging port. now it is charging fine, but it is still NOT READING the HEADPHONE and i got another problem (when i put the SIM card, the iphone reacts normally asking for PIN code, and it accepts the code and start searching for the siginal and STUCK ON SEARCHING until it says NO SERVICE )!!!!! and i did my best to be as much careful as i can and tried to reset and restart couple of times but its still the same !!!, any idea ??
Thank you! I found that if I don't align the charging port flexible PCB perfectly with the white dots on the phone then the cable won't align with the port on the logic board. The way I got it to work was by starting at the top near the white dots when taping the PCB down. Honestly, I don't envy the person who has to decipher my comment but hopefully it helps someone out there.
sir may i have a question i have an iphone 7 plus, and i decided to replace the housing but the problem now is that the iphone doesnt charge nor there are no haptic feedback from the silent slider or the home button, but everything functions whats worse is that it doesnt charge. but whats weird is that if its powered off and i plug in the charger, it boots up, but it doesnt charge. please help me.
Worked it out now. I did get them the wrong way round and I couldn’t get wifi or cellular. Swapped them round and all good now. (Except for my other comment).
Water resistance wears down over time, but without proper seals being put back, it's safe to assume the device will not be water resistant after the repair.
My phone instead of charging it’s keep discharging even though it’s connected I change the batteries cause I took it to Apple and they said it was the batteries but when I got home it was still not charging I think it’s might be the charging port but they so lazy to do their work. I’m scared to do this though

Hello sir. I have a problem. I followed your procedure but I accidentally damaged my coaxial cable port for the charging port. Is it possible to solder it back?
I have a charging issue, when my ip7 plus boots up it is charging up to 1%, but suddenly the lighting icon disappears, do you think when I replace the charging flex I can now fix my phone? I am looking forward for your reply sir!
I did everything right but the darn charging cable is not a perfect fit. It’s just a little off so it’s hard to snap it in. Don’t know if the cable is not a perfect fit or it’s not perfectly aligned. Any solution for that besides tearing everything apart again.
The phone works when I test the part, but when I install the charging port it gets stuck on the Apple logo. Same thing happened with 3 new parts. What could be the issue?
Hmmmm...that is very strange. That cable is tricky to plug in, so it's possible that the cable wasn't pre-bent properly and is slightly lifting. Make sure the connection is on there good, but I've had that issue before and that's what it was. That long connection is very finicky so that might be what is going on.
I replaced my charging port and now I get “unknown device”. Suspect I may have a broken replacement part 🤔 Is there anything you could recommend that I have missed? 🙏
Great video thanks, i changed the charge port on my iphone 7 but it still doesn't want to charge after that, the cables and plugs work because it charges the other iphone 7. I also have a new battery in there. could there be another problem whey these phones wont charge, could the motherboard be damaged? Those pins that plug in the motherboard from the charge plate seem to be very soft, could they damage easily.
Hi I done everything like on the video and after that my I phone don't wanna turn on it shows just apple logo and looks like is restarting after I plug in to my Mac does not shows me on the computer ? what can be wrong ?
does it matter which of those wires goes to which slot? i put my phone back together and it cant connect to the cell towers, the taptic engine isn't working right and the battery percentage isn't showing up. maybe my phone was just at 0% battery life for too long lol.
Hello I have one question. my phone is stuck on boot loop and after research, I find out that I have to replace the charging port. So is there any possibility that I will lose all my data after replacing it? Just asking, I hope anyone can help me.
Not at all. Make sure to line up the connections of the cable and order another one first. After that, try to update the phone through iTunes/Finder, but remember that if the cable is not plugged in properly, doing anything on the computer may not work, or will cause you to lose data.
Awesome video, just one question, you disassemble the phone in the beginning but then put it back to test the plug, shouldnt this be done before the disassemble of the cover ?
Keep in mind that you need tools made for iphone 7 and up!!!!.. I took the front screen of, but could not do anything more because Apple has some sort of new Y-formed screws to remove the screen. Had to mount the screen back on and order tools. I only had the tools for iPhone 4-6 or something.
Kind of weird looking back at this video because my structure for repair videos are much different now lol. But I do have the tools and where to buy them listed in the description, which everyone should read! It changes so I can add more info in the future! I'm just surprised that I didn't say which screws we were working with lol
Real World Review I understand. This was not meant to be a negativ comment, just a quick heads up to people that has experience with older iPhone and already have the «old toolkit». Thank you for the helpful video anyways!
No I get it. Normally I explain the tools in the video, so I was more surprised I didn't in this one lol I'm always happy when people leave comments to help others in case I missed something or didn't make sense, because I've experienced that before while working on my car lol
When testing the new charging port prior disassembly, will the iPhone show battery charging even when the battery was fully emptied? I'm testing it now and I haven't got any response from the display. It doesn't power on. Should I continue to install the new charging port?
hey bro i had bought 2 cheap charging cables for my iphone 7 plus as original was broken. i just changed it, before i put it in i checked to see if it would charge and it did. But now after i installed it, it was stuck on the apple logo and it turned on to say iphone needs to cool down before i can use it. Also, now its not charging, and the area around the sim tray port got really hot. i did everything like it was in the video
Sounds like there might another issue with the phone. Behind the sim card tray is the storage chip, so it's possible that could be failing (which most likely was not caused by anything you did)
I replaced my mic and after if did my iPhone screen was glitchy and stuck on the logo for a bit then turned on for a minute before it died. I bought a new LCD screen after thinking I might’ve done something to it, and now it still doesn’t turn on even with the new screen. Not sure if I should put the old mic back in or if it’s something else that is messed up
Never. I would assume that adding the waterproofing pieces will help, but I would never assume that putting a phone back together will bring water resistance back in the phone like they do in the factory where they make these phones (and shocker, "water resistant" phones aren't always 100% water resistant)
I've replaced the whole charging flex in my iphone 7 plus... now my touch id fails and home button not working. I did not touch the screen part. Soon as i disassembled the phone i put the screen away. Now put everything back together and touch id/home button fails.... any reason. Where have i gone wrong??????
Zohair Tayyeb I had the same problem when I opened my iPhone 7. After further investigation I found that I ripped a ribbon cable going to the home button so I replaced the whole screen. After that I had no problems with it.
Lovely video. I am not a DIY person though. Recently had my lightening port replaced from a third party shop. Since then i sound muffled on calls as people come complain. What may have gone wrong? I had no problems with the mics earlier and it was only about connectivity isses of power cable and earpods. Ligheting port works fine now but my voice on calls is very weird.
@@RealWorldReview they dont, infact they had misaligned the vibration motor while assembling things back, the home’s taptic feedback was very badly affected, i went there again n then it got fixed. I m not sure about the mics though. They replaced the lightening port part and as per videos i have seen, the same part carries microphone. I dont thing replacement is an original apple part.
I’v changed the charging port and now it says "accessory may not be supported" whenever i connect the charging cable. I’v tried with many different lightning cables, originals and unoriginals, no changes. Headphone works fine. I’v tried with three different charging-ports and the same message whenever i try to connect charging cable. IOS 13.1.2 What’s the problem?
Real World Review I changed it because it was bad connection to the lightning cable earlier, but after replacement i got this "accessory may not be supported" shit all the time. I’v changed back to the original charging port, still the same "not supported" shit. I’v cleaned all the connectors, so it seems to be a fault in the logic board since it’s still there no matter witch charging port i install. This fault came first time i changed the charging port and has never dissapear. Any tips?
i know this video is a bit old but i need some help. so my mic stopped working so i decied to swap out this part and i followed this video.after swappiong out this part i was stuck at a boot loop. the phone no longer worked so i assumed maybe the part was defective. so i decided to connect the OG part and whilst the "new cable was on" and the phone started working... so i was like wahtever ill undo my work and swap the OG part back in. after doing all that with the OG cable the phone is still at a boot loop. so now i decided to plug in the "new" cable and boom it worked again whilst the OG cable was in. either way im still in a boot loop for what ever reason? any ideas??????????
@@RealWorldReview why when I connect the front camera connector the phone is not working when I turn it on ?and when I disconnected the front camera and turn it on again the phone keep rebooting why? even when brought new charging port from different seller.
@@RealWorldReview how I can make sure there’s no problem with the motherboard to cause rebooting? Because I disconnected the front camera but the phone still rebooting.

Can someone help me my iphone 7plus charger only works one sided and It wont recognized mfi or original iphone lightning port it only works with cheap lightning cable and already have my replacement here and tried it but still it won’t work it only works one sided and won’t recognized orginal lightning cable…
I bought a new charging port but I can’t get that last 2 screws out that hold the charging port in the phone, what do I do? I tested the new charging port and it works perfectly
I did a charging port replacement on a customers phone! Afterwards, data, iMessage, internet, WiFi doesn’t even work but you can place a call and it shows the amount of reception. Please help!
Bro, yesterday my local technician replaced my charging port, after i got home it discharges while im charging and using it. After awhile i noticed it can only charge if its in airplane mode. I even used 2.4A charger, but still the same, charges damn slow. Did they replaced it with another defective charging port?
Sounds like it is defective. Also sounds like there is sometime wrong with the charging IC. Not sure if anyone in your area would be able to perform board level soldering repairs.
Really nice video my friend. I have fixed 100s of phones, but couldn't ever remember doing a 7 plus charge port. If so forgotten. Saved me a lot of time. Have given you a like.;)
There might be something else wrong with the phone. The port and/or the battery might also be defective.I would recommend plugging phone into iTunes and see if you can get any signs of life when putting the phone into Recovery or DFU Mode.
while this video is a great guide on how to replace the charging port, microphone etc you do not need to pull the top components of the phone apart. there is other videos on how to do it by only pulling the bottom components apart. if you have a rough idea on what your doing you can do it that way
You think it may be the charge port when i connect it to my mac nothing comes up it jus shows the logo screen popping up on the iPhone but nothin on the mac no sign that its connected
Does it charge normally? If so, try plugging it into another computer with iTunes. If it still isn't showing up, then there might be something wrong with the replacement port (if you've already replaced the port). If you've done all the above, there might be something wrong with the board (which means you'll need to buy another phone).
I have problem with my bottom mic, it doesn’t work only for WhatsApp, Instagram and few more apps. I can charge my phone perfectly. What I have to fix?
I can do what ever I want with my cord. Wiggle it, flip it around and plug it back in and it won't charge. And I tried different cords and that don't help. But if I smack the back of the phone it will charge sometimes. My iPhone 7 did fall off the top of my car at 45 mph it did have a otter box on it.
It is possible that the IC (integrated circuit) that powers the charging function might have broke or failed after dropping of the car due to too much shock (yes, Otterbox works, but I think 45 mph is beyond what Otterbox tests lol.)

Real World Review thanks a lot bro. Keep up the good work
I've replaced the whole charging flex in my iphone 7 plus... now my touch id fails and home button not working.
I am having trouble taking of the board
Have you changed your rear body ?
Yes
Lovely video. I am not a DIY person though. Recently had my lightening port replaced from a third party shop. Since then i sound muffled on calls as people come complain. What may have gone wrong? I had no problems with the mics earlier and it was only about connectivity isses of power cable and earpods. Ligheting port works fine now but my voice on calls is very weird.
We’re the mic covers put in correctly?
Sounds like the mics might be covered. Decently recommend going back to the shop because they should offer you a nice warranty
@@shakti.rathore replacements will never be original apple parts
After I replaced my charging port I was not able to use any of the touch screen. It did not recognize the charging port or anything.
Machu Kim cheap port
I’v changed the charging port and now it says "accessory may not be supported" whenever i connect the charging cable. I’v tried with many different lightning cables, originals and unoriginals, no changes. Headphone works fine.
I’v tried with three different charging-ports and the same message whenever i try to connect charging cable. IOS 13.1.2
What’s the problem?
Sounds like the port might be defective. Or aftermarket, but generally those work fine
Real World Review
I changed it because it was bad connection to the lightning cable earlier, but after replacement i got this "accessory may not be supported" shit all the time. I’v changed back to the original charging port, still the same "not supported" shit. I’v cleaned all the connectors, so it seems to be a fault in the logic board since it’s still there no matter witch charging port i install.
This fault came first time i changed the charging port and has never dissapear.
Any tips?
are every screw a diffrent size?
3 different bits (4 if you count the anchor screws) but there are a bunch of different lengths. Keep them in order
i know this video is a bit old but i need some help. so my mic stopped working so i decied to swap out this part and i followed this video.after swappiong out this part i was stuck at a boot loop. the phone no longer worked so i assumed maybe the part was defective. so i decided to connect the OG part and whilst the "new cable was on" and the phone started working... so i was like wahtever ill undo my work and swap the OG part back in. after doing all that with the OG cable the phone is still at a boot loop. so now i decided to plug in the "new" cable and boom it worked again whilst the OG cable was in. either way im still in a boot loop for what ever reason? any ideas??????????
I bought one from Amazon but after I replace it and I turn on the phone it’s the Apple 🍏 logo pop-up and keep restarting what does that mean?
Port isn’t plugged in all the way or bad port.
@@RealWorldReview okay thank you so much 😊
@@RealWorldReview why when I connect the front camera connector the phone is not working when I turn it on ?and when I disconnected the front camera and turn it on again the phone keep rebooting why? even when brought new charging port from different seller.
Sounds like the the front camera cable got torn or stretched. There’s some soldered pads and when those rip, it can cause the phone to reboot.
@@RealWorldReview how I can make sure there’s no problem with the motherboard to cause rebooting? Because I disconnected the front camera but the phone still rebooting.
I replaced the charging port the phone works fine just when I plug it in it start to charge for like a second n then stops already put the old charging port in there n same thing now with the old tried many different cables n all the same any suggestions on what i have done wrong
Where can you buy a lightning connetor
In the description
Hi what screw did you use for the anchor screws I've tried everything. I even bought the kit you recommended. Nothing is turning those screws.
There should be a bit called the “Standoff” but a 2mm flathead should work.
do u really have to remove the main board completly?
You can lift the bottom portion but removing the board fully makes it easier
My phone can't connect to itune does that mean i need to replace charging port?
Possibly
After replacing the charging port, is it still water resistant???
Nope. Apple never covers water resistance anyways, so take it will a grain of salt
Hi, could you help me, please?
After replacing it, the iPhone turns on when I plug the charger in, but doesn't charge.
Thanks in advance,
Ned.
Likely bad port or not plugged in correctly. Check power on a usb power meter.
Hello so I did all of this..... and my phone was in perfect condition besides the charger port. Now my phone won't even turn on.... please help.
Umm did you unplug the battery before removing the screen ribbon cables
If not you could’ve blown a fuse and you should but a new screen
Or buy a new battart
I unplugged the battery and it still won’t turn on???
After replacing charging port phone goes to white screen and won’t go any further. Any thoughts?
Can someone help me my iphone 7plus charger only works one sided and It wont recognized mfi or original iphone lightning port it only works with cheap lightning cable and already have my replacement here and tried it but still it won’t work it only works one sided and won’t recognized orginal lightning cable…
I bought a new charging port but I can’t get that last 2 screws out that hold the charging port in the phone, what do I do? I tested the new charging port and it works perfectly
I would recommend a small driver that comes with some kits. Those fit fine. It's generally not too hard to remove those screws.
well my iPhone isn't turning on anymore… Someone got tips/help?
My phone turns on apple logo stays on for a few minutes but the phone doesn’t charge . So I put the original one back in and it still won’t charge ?
And people can’t hear me anymore when I make phone calls
I got two from amazon both cause boot loop mostly cause defective
what can i do
my new charging port wont snap into the logic board but the old one will. Did i do something wrong?
Does anyone know if this also fixes microphone issues?
Yes and no. Yes if speakerphone still works, no if the speakerphone option is greyed out.
Real World Review the speaker is grayed out. Do you know what would need to be changed if the speaker is grayed out?
@@KTVBUILT this is how you fix it, and it's not fun. ruclips.net/video/nQf5a5b3htU/видео.html
Did they replaced it with another defective charging port?
simon kacheton
Sounds like it is defective. Also sounds like there is sometime wrong with the charging IC. Not sure if anyone in your area would be able to perform board level soldering repairs.
how did u test if the charging port works if you disconnected the screen?
At 2:24 I reconnected the screen and power the phone on off camera.
he reconnected the screen after plugging in the charging port to the logic board
Really nice video my friend. I have fixed 100s of phones, but couldn't ever remember doing a 7 plus charge port. If so forgotten. Saved me a lot of time. Have given you a like.;)
I followed this but still in same situation I put a new battery and charging port but phone will turn on but not charge any suggestions
There might be something else wrong with the phone. The port and/or the battery might also be defective.I would recommend plugging phone into iTunes and see if you can get any signs of life when putting the phone into Recovery or DFU Mode.
Its a great straight forward video tutorial. Thanks
while this video is a great guide on how to replace the charging port, microphone etc you do not need to pull the top components of the phone apart. there is other videos on how to do it by only pulling the bottom components apart. if you have a rough idea on what your doing you can do it that way
Can you use a charging port from an older iPhone??
Nope, only from an iPhone 7 Plus.
Thank you. This is amazing!
Is phone still waterproof after opening ?
Never
You think it may be the charge port when i connect it to my mac nothing comes up it jus shows the logo screen popping up on the iPhone but nothin on the mac no sign that its connected
Does it charge normally? If so, try plugging it into another computer with iTunes. If it still isn't showing up, then there might be something wrong with the replacement port (if you've already replaced the port). If you've done all the above, there might be something wrong with the board (which means you'll need to buy another phone).
Just done this, would not have been able to without this video. Thank you so much!
how do you get the port plug out?
is this fine with iphone 7 as well??
Maybe but stuff on the iPhone 7 will be smaller
how about the adhesive around the screen ? nothing ?
happy birthday (even though it’s late)
I have problem with my bottom mic, it doesn’t work only for WhatsApp, Instagram and few more apps. I can charge my phone perfectly. What I have to fix?
I can do what ever I want with my cord. Wiggle it, flip it around and plug it back in and it won't charge. And I tried different cords and that don't help. But if I smack the back of the phone it will charge sometimes. My iPhone 7 did fall off the top of my car at 45 mph it did have a otter box on it.
It is possible that the IC (integrated circuit) that powers the charging function might have broke or failed after dropping of the car due to too much shock (yes, Otterbox works, but I think 45 mph is beyond what Otterbox tests lol.)
one special like for this amazing work thank you
Thanks for this tutorial
Can I use a iPhone 7 charging port to replace it on my iPhone 7 plus
No
