this video helped me so much!! spent the whole day yesterday working on my phone and this video was so helpful, and i was just hoping i was doing everything right grant it i’m not tech savvy and this was my first time, but push came to shove and my phone had been dead for a couple months because the charger port was damaged 🙃 but it’s working great now and it wouldn’t be if i didn’t watch this video
This is the first video I seen from start to finish!!! Most show how to fix it but don’t show how to put it back together and let’s face sometimes some of us can forget where this screw came from or forget this or that so…thank you!!!! Because this is a lot
good video, absolutely no need to go as far as removing the logic board and top assembly of the phone though. just undoing the bottom 2 lockdown screws (2:45) allows you to lift the board up enough to slide the charge port flex out and get the new one in.
I replaced everything cautiously and now my phone has been stuck on apple boot logo UPDATE: i was disassembling everything ready to put back in the old one but i just decided to give everything on more try because the connection didnt seem so good so i made sure the connection was good and it came to my suprise when i hooked everything together it turned on so for any of you guys planning on doing this make sure the connection is lined up properly ( 9:12 )
thank you so much, I was having the same problem. That connect is a little up, so my iphone stock on boot logo too, after put it down a bit, phone come back a live. Safe my live!!!!
Thank you! I found that if I don't align the charging port flexible PCB perfectly with the white dots on the phone then the cable won't align with the port on the logic board. The way I got it to work was by starting at the top near the white dots when taping the PCB down. Honestly, I don't envy the person who has to decipher my comment but hopefully it helps someone out there.
thank you for you video.. i have a questions about this, whether by replacing the chargiing port, is there an impact that occurs on the signal by using a fake charging port?
Really nice video my friend. I have fixed 100s of phones, but couldn't ever remember doing a 7 plus charge port. If so forgotten. Saved me a lot of time. Have given you a like.;)
I'm about to try my attempt to fix my iPhone. Since I'm having issues with the charging port where I have to position the cable in a certain way to get it to even charge (I know it's not an issue with my cable or the AC adapter since my iPad shows no issues when I use the same adapter and cables), I've sort of lived for it with months though now it's gotten to the point where when it's plugged in, yet it's not charging (Battery indicator shows a lighting bolt, yet doesn't charge and the percentage goes down instead of up). I'm sort of resorting to the DIY method since I don't trust having the people at Best Buy look at my phone. Is there a way to organize the screws since I'm afraid that I'd loose track of what screw goes where?
I got the same issue, my guess is that oxidation of material and dust on the gold conductors on the charging port are bad or even loose as is pushed into the phone, very common if you use your phone while charging
Awesome video, just one question, you disassemble the phone in the beginning but then put it back to test the plug, shouldnt this be done before the disassemble of the cover ?
The biggest struggle because not speeding those up can add 10+ minutes to the video lol. You can always change the video speed, which is why I say what the sped up part is.
Worked it out now. I did get them the wrong way round and I couldn’t get wifi or cellular. Swapped them round and all good now. (Except for my other comment).
Hi bro, i had 2 problems with my i phone 7 plus (Not charging and the headphone not working) , then i have replaced the hole charging port. now it is charging fine, but it is still NOT READING the HEADPHONE and i got another problem (when i put the SIM card, the iphone reacts normally asking for PIN code, and it accepts the code and start searching for the siginal and STUCK ON SEARCHING until it says NO SERVICE )!!!!! and i did my best to be as much careful as i can and tried to reset and restart couple of times but its still the same !!!, any idea ??
My phone instead of charging it’s keep discharging even though it’s connected I change the batteries cause I took it to Apple and they said it was the batteries but when I got home it was still not charging I think it’s might be the charging port but they so lazy to do their work. I’m scared to do this though

while this video is a great guide on how to replace the charging port, microphone etc you do not need to pull the top components of the phone apart. there is other videos on how to do it by only pulling the bottom components apart. if you have a rough idea on what your doing you can do it that way
Great video thanks, i changed the charge port on my iphone 7 but it still doesn't want to charge after that, the cables and plugs work because it charges the other iphone 7. I also have a new battery in there. could there be another problem whey these phones wont charge, could the motherboard be damaged? Those pins that plug in the motherboard from the charge plate seem to be very soft, could they damage easily.

I have a charging issue, when my ip7 plus boots up it is charging up to 1%, but suddenly the lighting icon disappears, do you think when I replace the charging flex I can now fix my phone? I am looking forward for your reply sir!
I did everything right but the darn charging cable is not a perfect fit. It’s just a little off so it’s hard to snap it in. Don’t know if the cable is not a perfect fit or it’s not perfectly aligned. Any solution for that besides tearing everything apart again.
Lovely video. I am not a DIY person though. Recently had my lightening port replaced from a third party shop. Since then i sound muffled on calls as people come complain. What may have gone wrong? I had no problems with the mics earlier and it was only about connectivity isses of power cable and earpods. Ligheting port works fine now but my voice on calls is very weird.
@@RealWorldReview they dont, infact they had misaligned the vibration motor while assembling things back, the home’s taptic feedback was very badly affected, i went there again n then it got fixed. I m not sure about the mics though. They replaced the lightening port part and as per videos i have seen, the same part carries microphone. I dont thing replacement is an original apple part.
Keep in mind that you need tools made for iphone 7 and up!!!!.. I took the front screen of, but could not do anything more because Apple has some sort of new Y-formed screws to remove the screen. Had to mount the screen back on and order tools. I only had the tools for iPhone 4-6 or something.
Kind of weird looking back at this video because my structure for repair videos are much different now lol. But I do have the tools and where to buy them listed in the description, which everyone should read! It changes so I can add more info in the future! I'm just surprised that I didn't say which screws we were working with lol
Real World Review I understand. This was not meant to be a negativ comment, just a quick heads up to people that has experience with older iPhone and already have the «old toolkit». Thank you for the helpful video anyways!
No I get it. Normally I explain the tools in the video, so I was more surprised I didn't in this one lol I'm always happy when people leave comments to help others in case I missed something or didn't make sense, because I've experienced that before while working on my car lol
I bought a new charging port but I can’t get that last 2 screws out that hold the charging port in the phone, what do I do? I tested the new charging port and it works perfectly
hello i did this and phone turned on but once it loaded it up it wasnt charging and some things werent syncing and i couldnt see my battery percantage or get internet connection do you think you might know whats wrong i think it could be because the connector isnt connected all the way
I replaced my mic and after if did my iPhone screen was glitchy and stuck on the logo for a bit then turned on for a minute before it died. I bought a new LCD screen after thinking I might’ve done something to it, and now it still doesn’t turn on even with the new screen. Not sure if I should put the old mic back in or if it’s something else that is messed up
does it matter which of those wires goes to which slot? i put my phone back together and it cant connect to the cell towers, the taptic engine isn't working right and the battery percentage isn't showing up. maybe my phone was just at 0% battery life for too long lol.
When testing the new charging port prior disassembly, will the iPhone show battery charging even when the battery was fully emptied? I'm testing it now and I haven't got any response from the display. It doesn't power on. Should I continue to install the new charging port?
I can do what ever I want with my cord. Wiggle it, flip it around and plug it back in and it won't charge. And I tried different cords and that don't help. But if I smack the back of the phone it will charge sometimes. My iPhone 7 did fall off the top of my car at 45 mph it did have a otter box on it.
It is possible that the IC (integrated circuit) that powers the charging function might have broke or failed after dropping of the car due to too much shock (yes, Otterbox works, but I think 45 mph is beyond what Otterbox tests lol.)
The phone works when I test the part, but when I install the charging port it gets stuck on the Apple logo. Same thing happened with 3 new parts. What could be the issue?
Hmmmm...that is very strange. That cable is tricky to plug in, so it's possible that the cable wasn't pre-bent properly and is slightly lifting. Make sure the connection is on there good, but I've had that issue before and that's what it was. That long connection is very finicky so that might be what is going on.
After not knowing why my phone wouldn’t work after putting the new charging port on or the original one. I opened it one more time and realized it wasn’t aligned 100% . You have to make sure the two white dots on the phone match up with the charger port. I didn’t think that was the problem. My phone would get stuck on apple logo then turn on 10 mins later but with the speaker not working , home button not clicking and phone not charging . So make sure you align it right 😆
TFtusave pause the video at 0:01-0:02... where his left thumb is at the top you will see two dots ... make sure those two align with two white dots that are on the phone
Hi I done everything like on the video and after that my I phone don't wanna turn on it shows just apple logo and looks like is restarting after I plug in to my Mac does not shows me on the computer ? what can be wrong ?
Never. I would assume that adding the waterproofing pieces will help, but I would never assume that putting a phone back together will bring water resistance back in the phone like they do in the factory where they make these phones (and shocker, "water resistant" phones aren't always 100% water resistant)
I'm doubting myself on if I can do this without messing up my phone. Weighing pros & cons of doing this myself and paying someone to do it. Oh the agony!
I replaced the charging port the phone works fine just when I plug it in it start to charge for like a second n then stops already put the old charging port in there n same thing now with the old tried many different cables n all the same any suggestions on what i have done wrong
Hello I have one question. my phone is stuck on boot loop and after research, I find out that I have to replace the charging port. So is there any possibility that I will lose all my data after replacing it? Just asking, I hope anyone can help me.
Not at all. Make sure to line up the connections of the cable and order another one first. After that, try to update the phone through iTunes/Finder, but remember that if the cable is not plugged in properly, doing anything on the computer may not work, or will cause you to lose data.
I followed your video and replace my charging port and everything seems to be working on up until I close everything up and all the sudden it doesn't seem to recognize the cable now...
hey bro i had bought 2 cheap charging cables for my iphone 7 plus as original was broken. My phone was not getting charged yest from the new one's and then i tried to do it with my brothers original cable and after numerous attemps i got the device on. now after that battery was lost now the phone is not charging nor it is going into any mode. I had shown it to the apple service center they said the device is not working and they said it has become dead. I dont know why and how it has happned or is it really dead or is there a problem with the charging port. Now it's not starting up and i have not dropped it and it doesnt even have any water or damage issue. I think because of the cheap wires my charging port would've stopped working somehow so should i check it locally or try to change the charging port in some local repair shop as the apple center people said nothing can be done from their side and they can only replace a new phone with hald price. I still have a little hope left cause nothing happned to my phone and it got switched off and stopped charging. please help bro

Signals are used by the antenas there’s no way a charging port would affect the signal

You said at the beginning there was an adhesive holding the screen to the case. Do you need to put adhesive back on to keep it together?

Nice good but you overworked the whole process. All that you have removed, half it didn't need removing
Bending the board and having an unexperienced viewer breaking the board is what I am trying to avoid.
When u change it does it do anything to your phone like reset it or something
No. Phone works like normal if done correctly and the part isn’t defective
Is it still water resistant after the fix?
Never. I would assume that adding the waterproofing pieces will help, but I would never assume that putting a phone back together will bring water resistance back in the phone like they do in the factory where they make these phones (and shocker, "water resistant" phones aren't always 100% water resistant)
Real World Review thanks a lot bro. Keep up the good work
my new charging port wont snap into the logic board but the old one will. Did i do something wrong?
I'm doubting myself on if I can do this without messing up my phone.
Weighing pros & cons of doing this myself and paying someone to do it. Oh the agony!
After replacing charging port phone goes to white screen and won’t go any further. Any thoughts?
I replaced the charging port the phone works fine just when I plug it in it start to charge for like a second n then stops already put the old charging port in there n same thing now with the old tried many different cables n all the same any suggestions on what i have done wrong
doing this tonight, pray for me
How'd it go?
do u really have to remove the main board completly?
You can lift the bottom portion but removing the board fully makes it easier
Hello
I have one question. my phone is stuck on boot loop and after research, I find out that I have to replace the charging port. So is there any possibility that I will lose all my data after replacing it? Just asking, I hope anyone can help me.
B3NF4 I don’t think you will lose data
Strange. Make sure all the connections are good
This repair costed me around $40 USD, and to be honest, it's fairly cheap for the amount of work you have to do
My phone can't connect to itune does that mean i need to replace charging port?
Possibly
It didn't charge when you tested it. Switched frames.
My phone turns on apple logo stays on for a few minutes but the phone doesn’t charge . So I put the original one back in and it still won’t charge ?
And people can’t hear me anymore when I make phone calls
hey bro i had bought 2 cheap charging cables for my iphone 7 plus as original was broken.
Honestly, it sounds like there is something wrong with the Charging IC. Or the logic board might need to be replaced.
I done this and as a result the vibration in touch has gone. Also the speaker was changed to the top of the phone
What to do? 😫
Hi, could you help me, please?
After replacing it, the iPhone turns on when I plug the charger in, but doesn't charge.
Thanks in advance,
Ned.
Likely bad port or not plugged in correctly. Check power on a usb power meter.
