It's crazy how you just begun this sketch from nothing with no shapes and created a masterpiece! it's actually a really smart idea to block in the hair and the body first, because I often start with the face and then go too big accidentally and run out of space for the hair so I might try this 😊
I actually don't really understand the Loomis method or even if that's the process I use and just didn't have a name for it. So it's cool to see how *you* would draw it your own way.
It's interesting how this can actually encourage you to look closer at the model themselves as opposed to the Loomis method! Since you're using the model as the basis for the initial outline. I hadn't thought about how my pencil might get in the way of my judgment of a model's features, so this has definitely given me some food for thought. Thank you for the lovely upload, as ever!
Wow this video is so helpful... I started making my first self portrait but directly with paint and no pencilwork and it seems to work... I dont know if this works for every person because some people are soo hard to draw and to make them look alike
Hi, I really admire your artwork and your style. I try to follow all the process, but i always find it hard to draw the eyes, I always end up making too big eyes, or the eyes always too close to each other, any advice. Thank you

My sketches have always worked this way. The Loomys method, with all due respect, doesn't work for me.
