Anyone with a bit of practical experience could take it apart but how did you know how to put it back together?! I have three old chain blocks/hoists. They all work but one tends to stick so I'd like to fix it. It would be nice to restore them all. The big one has a worm gear
"NEVER" connect the hook back on your chain, when you lift something...first thing you learn in any factory, where they use this tools. You can damage a link!!
That must be for very weak chain. As a flatbedder you have to hook back to the chain, that's how load securement happens. Hooks chains and binders. Hauled equipment, metal coils, rods, shapes, all kinds of stuff. A single 8' dia 20k# gear for Smith and Wesson in Springfield. Impossible to not hook back to the chain. And chains stay on the truck until they rust....
Cant call this a restoration. Paint over old sht, so it will not show. Didn't sandblast or anything. And the worst part- at the time you use it, it allready rusts again!!!
probably the video will be of great help to a lot of people in the repair and rehabilitation of a chain hois
Oh yes Thanks you
