Thanks for the reply! So even on my iPhone I have to go to GarageBand and set the settings? Because when I record on GarageBand through my Mac it works perfect fine. It’s just when I livestream with my phone.
Did it work for you? I tried going into settings and changing to mono. Both ways only come in one side of my headphones and car stereo. Not that people are going to listen to my stuff in headphones and car stereos! 😆 still slightly aggravated that I can’t figure it out.
how do you feed the usb hob if you are outdoor, is it enough or it is too much power comming from a power bank with 5v 2amp? I am asking because i don't assume the risk to power my focussrite interface from different power source in order to not cause any fault to it.
hello can u use this with streaming on facebook w other people? ive noticed that u cant have a separate input and output w a rode mic and bluetooth heaphone.
This does not work on the 2i2. It does not recognize power, the same as if you were to plug it into any random usb not on a computer. Any ideas work around for that?
Hey so I’ve got this set up down but when I’m listening to my audio playback on headphones after recording a video, it’s only recording one side of my audio instead of both. Anyway to go about this?
Hello thanks for wonderful video. Is usb hub compulsory. Can we directly connect audio interface to this usb adaptor and connect this adaptor to iPhone. ? Thanks for the wonderful video
No, because the audio interface will be getting power from the USB hub which is also getting power from the wall. If you didn’t have the USB hub, then your audio interface would be bus-powered meaning that it would power off of whatever device it’s plugged into as well as receive and send data through the USB cable.
Hi thanks for the video, ive done the exact setup and it works, and if i turn off the usb button and on again it works however when i disconnect the phone and try to reconnect the phone it doesnt power on, and when i try to unplug everything and do the setup again it doesnt work, but after some time that passes it works again, whats that about? is the USB hub not good enough?
Not sure, but it doesn’t sound like a bad USB Hub because you said it works to begin with. I would just follow the video step by step every time you use your audio interface with your iPhone.
Does the iPhone disable the phone’s mic/headset mic when you connect the audio interface? Just wondering how you identify which input is which if this is not the case. Thanks. 😊
Yes it does, because you’re inputting a microphone into the lighting port. Just like when you plug wired earbuds into a lighting port and the external speakers stop outputting, while the earbud speakers as well as the microphone/controls start working.
Maybe one of you brilliant people can help me. I am trying to run my Scarlett 2i4 into an iPhone XR. I have the camera adapter. I have the interface plugged into the camera adapter and the adapter also plugged into the wall. The issue is that the green USB light isn’t coming on and the 48V phantom light just keeps flashing on and off. I assume this means that the wall power isn’t strong enough to power the interface. I’ve tried using both the standard iPhone block and the iPad block, and neither seem to work to make the green light come on. I would try to use a USB hub like many have suggested, but I don’t know if that would work either if connecting it directly to the wall isn’t working. Maybe there’s something with how much power a powered USB hub provides that makes it work better than simply connecting it to the wall. All I’m trying to do is use my Shure PGA27 mic to capture audio for Instagram. Any input would be appreciated!
I would try a USB Hub if that’s the case. Also know that older iPhone’s can’t standalone power as good as newer iPhones do. If that doesn’t work I would test a different microphone or interface. Also, make sure you have the authentic Apple USB3 Camera Adapter. Please consider subscribing!
This worked for me about twice, now my focusrite flashes on really fast and then just turns off and no buttons will work. It only works on a laptop or computer now, any thoughts on what might be wrong?
I have a Rode NT1-A, it requires 48v phantom power. My apple adapter didn’t work with it. There’s a warning that says power is not enough. So i bought a 65w adapter. But i still get that warning. Should I buy usb 3.0 power hub in order to get the mic working? I can record with my PC but I couldn’t figure out how to record with my iphone. Can you help?
Majority of what i see is only in garageband but can this work if i use acapella app? So i can record both video and audio? Thats what i normally use when covering a song but with my apple headset before now i wanna use scarlett for it. Hope i can get answers ❤
If you have a condenser microphone make sure you hit the “48V” button for phantom power. Otherwise, backtrack all of your connections and check for any defective equipment (try switching out XLR cables, USB cables and even microphones).
I have a USB headset that I use for work on my PC. For some reason it doesn’t work when I make a call on my iPhone it’s my headset doesn’t exist. Well grabbing all of these allow me to hear and talk on my headset on my iPhone?
The USB Hub alone SHOULD make it work, but I would prefer using a wireless headset method (AirPods, earbuds, or even a Bluetooth headset for iPhone calls. Please consider subscribing!
when i plug it in and turn it on and everything, there’s a lot of glitchy sounds coming through it, and when i record in garageband too. when i use it with my computer on bandlab, though, it works perfectly fine
Hey question about the USB camera adapter. Does it have to be Apple brand? I see some other off brand options on amazon that are half the price. Thank you for such an informative video!
To avoid any roadblocks, ALWAYS get the authentic Apple Camera Adapter. I’ve heard stories of other brands’ camera/usb adapters not being recognized on GarageBand.
I bought the cheapest closest to 5 stars i could find on Amazon, for getting pictures to my daughter’s iPad. Then i saw this video and decided to barrow the adapter (non Apple), it works great.
I'm trying to order within next few hrs for my bf Christmas gift I don't know how to find these things I found a few but idk if I'm getting the right lightning cord
Products shown in the video: - Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) Studio - Tendak 4 Port USB Hub - Apple USB 3 Camera Adapter - Apple USB to Lighting Cable
Do all those steps disappear now that the iphone 15 has USB-C? I'm thinking if I get a USB TO USB-C adapter I can go from audio interface right into the iphone 15 without having to buy the TenDak USB Hub?
Some of them yes… The older interfaces need more power than what an iPhone can produce. I would get a USB-C hub that way you can connect your interface as well as pass through charge your iPhone 15. Please consider subscribing!

I would still use the USB Hub, it should be more than enough power and it should work fine.
hello can u use this with streaming on facebook w other people? ive noticed that u cant have a separate input and output w a rode mic and bluetooth heaphone.
I haven’t tested this out myself since I don’t stream. Please consider subscribing!
This does not work on the 2i2. It does not recognize power, the same as if you were to plug it into any random usb not on a computer. Any ideas work around for that?
Check the wires you’re using
Hello, can you make a call with this connection? That is, does the iPhone detect the microphone and headphones so you can make a phone call?
Haven’t tested this out myself, I know the interface turns on when you open the GarageBand app. Please consider subscribing!
I tried and I couldn’t make it. I went live on TikTok. But there’s is no stereo music I was trying to sing , It’s just a n acapella
It might not work with TikTok directly… Try downloading the sound you’re trying to remix and record it in GarageBand. Please consider subscribing!
Hey so I’ve got this set up down but when I’m listening to my audio playback on headphones after recording a video, it’s only recording one side of my audio instead of both. Anyway to go about this?
Yes, go into your GarageBand settings inside a project and make sure Mono Audio is switched off.
Hello thanks for wonderful video. Is usb hub compulsory. Can we directly connect audio interface to this usb adaptor and connect this adaptor to iPhone. ?
Thanks for the wonderful video
You will need the usb hub to provide enough power in order to use the audio interface.
@@The_Rev_Room oops it's become too complicated. In Android it connects directly. Thanks for the wonderful information

i have a iphone 7, will this audio interface be too much power since my phone in lower in quality, i want to know before i go ahead and buy it
No, because the audio interface will be getting power from the USB hub which is also getting power from the wall. If you didn’t have the USB hub, then your audio interface would be bus-powered meaning that it would power off of whatever device it’s plugged into as well as receive and send data through the USB cable.

So can I use only the Apple adapter for my mic? I mean if I plug in the audio interface and my charging cable (going to the wall)???
Yes that will work
Hi thanks for the video, ive done the exact setup and it works, and if i turn off the usb button and on again it works however when i disconnect the phone and try to reconnect the phone it doesnt power on, and when i try to unplug everything and do the setup again it doesnt work, but after some time that passes it works again, whats that about? is the USB hub not good enough?
Not sure, I would contact Focusrite for technical support.
I would try the USB Hub since it’s the authentic way to hook up an audio interface to an iPhone. Please consider subscribing!
Is this also the setup to get sound out of your iPhone when the scarlet is connected to a soundsystem like active speakers or a mixer?
#nicevideo
Yes, but I would say without the headphones since you’re going to be using the speaker outputs on the rear of the interface.
Majority of what i see is only in garageband but can this work if i use acapella app? So i can record both video and audio? Thats what i normally use when covering a song but with my apple headset before now i wanna use scarlett for it. Hope i can get answers ❤
It should work if you have the hardware, though I’ve never used Acapella before.
Can you please tell me why my iPhone only record left sound on same setup from camera app
You might only be recording in mono audio. Check your iPhone’s sound/camera settings.
@@The_Rev_Room there is no setting on iPhone camera where I can pick mono or stereo
What happens when you use sound effects recording your voice does the background make noises?
Unless there’s other sound that the mic can pick up, it should not. Please consider subscribing!
thanks for the vid, i set everything up but the microphone isn’t working.. any suggestions?
If you have a condenser microphone make sure you hit the “48V” button for phantom power. Otherwise, backtrack all of your connections and check for any defective equipment (try switching out XLR cables, USB cables and even microphones).
Does the audio work for videos. Like will the video use the audio from the audio interface
I haven’t tested it out myself.
@@The_Rev_Room I have a wired one. Would like to utilize it without having to buy more things
Will this setup also work with the camera app on iPhone instead of the garage band app?
I haven’t tried that out myself
when i plug it in and turn it on and everything, there’s a lot of glitchy sounds coming through it, and when i record in garageband too. when i use it with my computer on bandlab, though, it works perfectly fine
Try cleaning your iOS device’s Lighting/USB-C port. Please consider subscribing!
Does this work if you are recording video and audio on an iPhone with the standard video recorder?
Yes, it is compatible with the Camera app
Hello! Why can’t you use simply a Lightning-to USB C -cable direct from iPhone to FocusRite?
Because the Focusrite is bus-powered and an iPhone (by itself) does not have enough power to power on the Focusrite.
@@The_Rev_RoomI just tried that and the lights flash a bit but just not quite enough juice
Im trying to record video through iphone 13, i have interface its not working i have converter cable also but doesn’t works it please help me
I can only recommend all the equipment and accessories used in the video.
Im using with s23 ultra, sound record taking only one side, another side voice not recording please help me
Thanks 😊

Hey question about the USB camera adapter. Does it have to be Apple brand? I see some other off brand options on amazon that are half the price. Thank you for such an informative video!
To avoid any roadblocks, ALWAYS get the authentic Apple Camera Adapter. I’ve heard stories of other brands’ camera/usb adapters not being recognized on GarageBand.
@@The_Rev_Room I appreciate the reply. I just purchased the Apple version. Thank you for the reply!
I bought the cheapest closest to 5 stars i could find on Amazon, for getting pictures to my daughter’s iPad. Then i saw this video and decided to barrow the adapter (non Apple), it works great.
Can u use it without the lightning hub? Or does that help with having more power to support the Scarlett
No, you will need the USB 3.0 Hub to provide enough power to turn on the Scarlett.
I'm trying to order within next few hrs for my bf Christmas gift I don't know how to find these things I found a few but idk if I'm getting the right lightning cord
or microphone or headset types n if I have to get those ones
Products shown in the video:
- Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) Studio
- Tendak 4 Port USB Hub
- Apple USB 3 Camera Adapter
- Apple USB to Lighting Cable
Do all those steps disappear now that the iphone 15 has USB-C? I'm thinking if I get a USB TO USB-C adapter I can go from audio interface right into the iphone 15 without having to buy the TenDak USB Hub?
Some of them yes… The older interfaces need more power than what an iPhone can produce. I would get a USB-C hub that way you can connect your interface as well as pass through charge your iPhone 15. Please consider subscribing!
Is it necessary to have food? Or can I just connect it to my phone?
I would say yes, it is necessary to have food.
Do we need the usb hub? Can I not just connect it straight from the interface to iPhone without that device or no?
No, you don’t NEED the USB Hub, this is just to use extra accessories with your iPhone such as a USB Drive.
Hi, I did everythink in this video but I can’t record a video. I can here my voice through microphone and headphone so it’s working but when I record a video there is no audio. And I can’t listen to music with this set up cause there is no sound. What can I doo I would really appriciate if you can help…
I haven’t tested this setup with video, I only know it works with audio in GarageBand.

Hey mate
Quick question
I have a bomge 22 audio interface.
Will this setup work for this ai?
I’m not sure if it’s class compliant
Also will it keep my iPad charged while I record?
Thanks I advance
If you have two different USB Ports on the back, you could change your power source option and it should work.
You just taught me something new 🫡😁🔥🔥🔥most of the things I already had in tha basement so this was clutch

Question though does that create any kind of buzzing while recording vocals or guitar seems like anything and everything can in some way or another. Going to be recording garage band guitars using this method on my phone.
Was thinking about getting a DI box just to make sure I didn’t have any issues.
I haven’t had any issues myself, but when it comes to interference/buzzing/feedback is to make sure you don’t have both monitors on at the same time for GarageBand and the audio interface. Please consider subscribing!
@@The_Rev_Room so I need usb lighting to usb 3 converter right? I have iPhone max pro 14. And then plug that into port
I figured plugging into usbc on back of interface is how u would get garage band to recognize it. But I’ll just follow the steps.
Did u know anything about the di box situation? lol
@@The_Rev_Room power bank into the back of the interface and then hook up the interface straight to wall outlet I have the volt 276 so it should’ve worked just fine but it did not..
Is it Normal that my interface connects to my cellphone after 10 minutes? I have a second generation scarlett
Yes, if you provided enough power for the interface to turn on, this is normal.

If I call someone. I can hear the person ? In my computers?
Not your Computer(s) because if you follow the video’s tutorial, there’s only a connection to an iPhone.
