It is interestingly hard to find video about how mr weathering color can replace panel liners such as tamiya panel accent. And thankfully I found your videos which described even beyond my newbie knowledge of custom gunpla. Thank you for the video!
@@yumikonmodels589 I shop at an online hobby shop that sells many of import supplies thankfully. And I have been using Gunze GSI Creos products for years. The quality is excellent! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😊
I have a bunch of these Mr Color weathering bottles. Many good uses, but for chipping I wouldn’t use them. Id use VMS chip n Nick which is an amazing product which in my opinion has changed hand chipping and sponge chipping.
Is it safe for applying to bare plastic? I’m a straight builder and want to use it for panel lining. I don’t use tamiya accent because it enamel and melt the plastic if applied without top coat.
Tamiya's accent color is "enamel". This "weathering color" is close to oil paint and has a weaker dissolving power than enamel. So you can safely apply it directly to the plastic. Of course, if you soak it in a lot, it may crack.
I have acrylic paint applied and will bee doing waterslide decals. Should I do clear coat before weathering, the decals, or can I clear coat, apply decals, and do Mr Weathering on top of the decals? Will the weathering application, or its solvent, harm the decals? Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for your comment. After applying the decal, coat it with clear coat. If you don't coat it, the weathering color will seep into the gaps and give you a dirty finish.
Nice video! Is is necessary to apply gloss clear coating first before applying this product? In applying panel lines it is recommended to apply clear gloss coating for smoother application. Do you apply on your kits?
Brilliant video, thank you for sharing. Information on these products is hard to find in English. I have not used this before, but I want to try now. Question, do you protect the paint with varnish before applying the weathering product?
Please buy it and give it a try. Convenient. It is better to apply a coat, semi-gloss is recommended. Since it dries in one day, no coat is required when applying different colors.
I'm glad it was useful. I don't know the ingredients, but it's almost the same as oil paint. Although it is an oil-based paint, it is weaker than Tamiya enamel and is a little different.
Can this be done on a matte coat? If not can it be done by applying very thin layers on top of layers and fade into a gradient in order to skip most of the blending and to make the blending easier? I know you can du rust streaking and light filters on matte but I don’t know if this extent can be done.
Amazing video, very informative! Loved it. However, I have a question. Can I use other thinners to clean Mr. Weathering Color? Say, enamel or lacquer thinner? Something like tamiya's enamel thinner or Mr. Color Leveling Thinner?
Hello, I wanted to ask: Is Mr. Weathering Color compatible with Mr. Hobby Aqueous paint? Will the solvent ruin the paint, or not? Another thing: When do I apply panel line? Is it after covering it with gloss coat, or can I just apply it without any topcoat at all?
Thanks for your comment. Not compatible with water-based paints. If you mix it, it will become mushy and unusable. Paint the panel lines after applying the top coat. A semi-gloss clear top coat is best.
Hi I have a project going on and want to use this product, my goal is to have a subtle weathering or worn look to the white armor parts and also how white paints will look like in real life. So which one do you prefer, Ground brown or Multi gray??

@@deganteng5625 straight on plastic OK? Or topcoat first?

Thank you for great video and careful instructions.
How long should you let it dry before beginning the cleaning process?
Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I can’t wait to try this out.
I'm glad to help you. How to use this paint is not introduced in English-speaking countries. Can you buy it outside of Japan?

That's right.
If you paint with semi-gloss, you will be able to blur it well.
If it is matte, it cannot be blurred well.

I don't think the stain color will blend well with the matte coat. It works better if you make it half glossy.

thank you for your comment. Yes, there is no problem.
Do you know how complete Mr. Weathering Color can be removed? I mistakenly left some dry overnight that I did not get to remove with the Solvent (!)
Thanks for your comment.
It may take some time, but you can dissolve it using an enamel color solvent.
Thanks for the explanation! Question: When you used the makeup sponge for cleaning up, was it wet with solvent?
No, it's not soaked in solvent. Blur in the dry state. You can also use a cotton swab.
@Noah Jagger Definitely, have been using flixzone for since december myself =)

Weathering color is an oil paint. Therefore, please dissolve it in a solvent for oil paints. Otherwise, it will melt the background color. :)
@@yumikonmodels589There's no store in my country that sells that solvent :( Do you know some alternative I can use?

can you use the mr hobby weathering as panel lining as well?

Yes, you can use it. Since it is an ingredient similar to oil paint, it does not violate the base of the paint.

I recommend Grand Brown. Black is a color that is rarely used. It is good to use for exhaust color and oil stains.
