Once upon a time there was a king who had a beautiful daughter. A sky high tree stood in the middle of their garden. One day the wind caught the princess and lifted her to the top of the tree, into the castle of the three headed dragon. A swineherd succeeds in climbing the tree, he tricks the dragon and robs it of its strength. He returns the princess to her father, who presents him with his kingdom and hand of his daughter.
Made by the Kecskemét Film Studio.
Directed by: József Haui, Marcell Jankovics
    Storyteller: Gyula Szabó
    Music: Kaláka band
The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

This makes me wonder if most of the dragons in stories like these courted them by legal means if the women agree.
I mean realistically speaking they are rich and powerful plus some have been shown to treat them well, and in times like those you wouldn't believe any practical women would disagree.
Also this is my opinion but those dragons ain't bad looking.

one guy described a tree so big and tall that a bird defecated out a seed that fall out of that tree
the seed grew up into a banyan tree - or you could imagine an oak tree, they have the same age range - then it got its own fruits & seeds, then those seeds grew up to full size trees on their own, while all of them are still falling out of that tree
by the time they crashed into the ground, 7 generations of trees have been born and grew up while falling out of that tree

I was wondering this too. I'm guessing part of the original story got cut out?
Maybe the coats were to protect against the wind around the tree.. and the boots needed to be replaced as he climbed?
"John climbed the tree for 7 days. Each day the wind was so fierce that it wore though his coat, and he had to replace it or be blown away. And the bark was so rough that he had to replace his boots too, or fall to his doom. On the 7th day he reached the top of the tree."
      Or something like that?
I haven't read the original tale, so don't take this as fact.

It's complicated, but essentially the idea of Wizards (and possibly djinn) got combined with the flying fire breathing reptile legends from Western Europe over in Eastern Europe, where a bunch of mythology from all over the world just sort of melted together to create something new. In the Hungarian/Romanian case, balaur (multi-headed, flying serpents that could breathe lightning) become associated with storms and winds, but wizards were also known for such deeds. So the wizards, locally known as Solomonari (presumably because they learned to bind and enslave demons from King Solomon, or were wise men like Solomon), who had magic powers and could control winds and storms, started to ride balaur whenever they went to battle. Eventually the distinction between the rider and the steed blurred, and we get three headed, scaly skinned, giant men who control the winds and storms and have a thing for stealing princesses to mock or torment kings.
