and my government-mandated hyperfixation for the summer iiiiissssss … [spins the wheel of misfortune] … fire emblem three houses!
jokes aside, shit, man. this game kicks ass. I’m too lazy to write out a huge fancy description, but just know that this singular game grabbed ME, someone who has never played a fire emblem game and has never had the desire to, by the throat and told me “you’re going to play this game and you’re going to love it” and. well.
as for the Plot ™ of this animatic, I gotta say, I’m in love with the idea of Byleth remembering their past routes, all the times they’ve saved characters, and all the times they weren’t so lucky ,,, obsessively going thru all the houses, hoping that just ONE different choice will mean that all the house leaders will get to live ,,, that’s the sensation and desperation i wanted to explore in this animatic, and boy was it fun. and painful. I could talk all day about the tragedy of Byleth's situation, but hey. that's what the animation is for am i right
not much left is to be said, except that you can tooootally tell who I S-supported my first time round lmao. happy pride month i’m gay

Me, already played all routes and know how they'll turn out: maybe if I pick THIS dialouge option everything will be okay-

My head canon is that New Game+ is just Byleth trying to find a happy ending for everyone.
It seems that in this animatic, Byleth keeps trying to keep everyone alive using Divine Pulse, but in the end she just feels pain. She gets attached to everyone and has to get used to seeing them all die in different horrible ways. Sometimes she even kills them. Yet she still keeps trying, when she wins the war and gets crowned she still goes back to the beginning of the game, the dream with Sothis, because people she cared about still died. You can't play the game without at least one or more playable characters dying. There is no golden route, yet Byleth still tries to find it. That's what Byleth thinks they're doing, when in reality it's just the player playing different routes for their own entertainment.

It's a shame really, I'd really enjoy an ashen hell route!!! Where the leaders get told off for they're haste, actions, and manipulations. Where Byleth now has the means to possibly single handedly turn the tables on the aggarthans and the rest of the known world's leaders if need be, and we can fully see how sothis, Rhea, jeralt, and sittri where in they're past with out second hand accounts and guess work!!!
Kinda wish there was another secret route where you can save all the house leaders and Rhea and defeat TWSITD for good, but you have to sacrifice Byleth to do so, like instead of Sothis giving Byleth her power in the void thing, Sothis just takes over Byleths body, or Byleth would die/collapse from exhaustion using the Divine Pulse so many times to go back so far

I'm honestly glad they didn't do that since Fates did exactly this and it just ended with Revelation invalidating the other routes (although that was far from the only problem with Fates lmao).Moral ambiguity is of the main themes of the game and I think it would do the incredible writing of Three Houses a disservice to fall into the same trap as it's predecessor.

I absolutely love this, because it shows just how PAINFUL Three Houses is. Its narrative is truly impressive, but that’s in part because there is no real perfect ending. The damage has been done from long before you can interfere, and the most you can do is pick up the pieces
I would have loved a show based on this game, where for a season we watch Byleth drag themselves through the pain and suffering that is silver snow, before at the end when Sothis tells Byleth that if she is dissatisfied, she could reset the timeline for her, so she does. Over and over again Byleth resets going down the other paths, getting more desperate for a happy ending, a way to save everyone she's spent decades bonding with and trying to save, only to have to kill them all over and over, until she cracks, and bends, and breaks, and through the extreme pain Byleth has endured she finally after all these years has come to terms with the fact that not everyone will always have a happy ending
@@elite9237 yeah... It's hash, but the "only" route that she won't back in time it's Crimison flower bc she lost the crest stone in her heart.
So... She won't be exactly happy, but she might find a "ending" that it doesn't have a way back.
My favorite two parts are the end where Sothis is clearly exasperated by Byleth's nonsensical attempts to change that which is fated, and those maybe three or five seconds near the end where Byleth is freaking out a bit and Dimitri just fades in behind her, then closes his eye because if anyone can tell when someone's losing it it's going to be someone who has lost it. I just thought those bits were neat.
I haven't even played the game yet but the allure of this art style was enough to make me forget spoilers are a thing lol

I honestly thought that Sothis wanted to return to the land of the living, so she let Rhea manipulate Byleth but when she didn't return to the land of the living, she glared at Byleth with anger because she didn't mindlessly following along with the plan.
This is just so painful to watch. It really feels like that when you get attached to everyone and want to see all of them succeed, but notice there's no way you can keep everyone happy. There's no way to save them all. :( Great video, great artsyle, new sub! 💕
I've always thought of trying new routes as using divine pulse to go back to try to save everyone.
Blue Lions recruit them all is the closest I got.
crimson flower all recruit is the closest possible, only killing dimitri, dudue and rhea, every other character is recruited or spared if attacked with byleth (or ignored in defeat commander levels)

CF all recruit will never save more than AM all recruit, because you can't recruit as many characters in CF period.
AM all recruit only requires you to kill Edelgard, Hubert and Jeritza, BTW. And since they also started the war, it's also logical you couldn't save them.

You can ignore the ones you don't recruit in AM. You haven't done anything to prove CF is more efficient. I already said to you that AM recruit all only requires you to kill Edelgard, Hubert and Jeritza.
@@l.n.3372 i know but since the "tie" includes killing a non playing characters techically CF makes you kill less playable characters in only dimirti and dudue, + with a shorter war and less battles comes less casualties in both civilian and army troops.

My headcannon for balith is that after every reset or new game or + started she remembers it all like sans from undertale
I'm not sure how I can express how much I liked your video. This is very close to my understanding of the canon of the Three Houses, that Bylet goes through each route one by one and cannot be satisfied with the result, which is why she returns to the beginning of the game. In my opinion, for her, the real end of the endless cycle of suffering and observing the deaths of her beloved students will be the Crimson Flower route, because only there she gets rid of power of goodness and becomes an ordinary person. I also love your allusions to the relationship between Bylet and Edelgard, when scenes are shown during her studies at the monastery and the moment Bylet wakes up in Edelgard's arms, she reaches out to her with a smile until Rhea replaces her and Bylet's face changes to rejection. Cause I'm so gay for Edelgard. And Ingrid. And Dorothea and... You get it.

This has to be without a doubt my favorite animation on this platform. Every time I see this in my feed It's like an instinct I click on it. It's not the work of god or brushed by the hand of Picasso, but it touches emotions on a level that gives me joy without fail. It elevates a song I find fond on a surface level and brings it a whole new level. This has to have been my favorite creation in this fandom. Keep going! It does it physical hurts me every single time i have to kill edelgard because she was my first choice and is by far my favorite her Members of the house are also very distinct none of them have crest of the 10 elites but are still very strong if you train them correctly.Me playing the other routes just hurt me seeing the people i first played with and walked a journey through die over and over me trying to save them just to see there comrades die again and again.

This hit a bit harder for me personally. I did Silver Snow last and considering how that route led to so many unfortunate ends, this did a great job of capturing that feeling of trying to do the right thing but always having the short hand handed to you. Awesome animatic, 10/10 for the direction

I’ve played through each route except for Silver Snow and lemme tell you how painful it is. In the end I like to imagine a peaceful game ending, I wish a dlc was added where you could at least save all the house leaders and their retainers, idc abt Rhea.
I always chose Crimson flower because edelgard, but it still hurts

There's two ways to limit the dead playable character count to 3, by recruiting or sparing everyone you can:
Azure Moon: Edelgard, Hubert, and Jeritza die, but TWSITD aren't fully stopped.
Crimson Flower: Rhea, Dimitri, and Dedue die, and Seteth and Flayn go into exile.
you forgot that also Catherine and Cyril can die, and Hilda and Claude too potentially

I honestly thought that Centuries by Fallout Boy was called Gold
From what I know right now, Edelgard's route is canon. Which really makes me sad. I think Claude's route is the best canon choice because there is the least amount of death, but still a lot. I wish that Fire Emblem was made into an anime, where each season was a different route, and a movie could be for the DLC. And since the female Byleth is the canon one, it would star around her or something like that. This video made me think of that so thank you for making this.
