Id probably be up n have them fed b4 anyone else woke up or showed up for work lol!!! Thank you to all of you that care for these babies because with you they get protection and reassurance! There are many wildlife rescue centers in the US and many other countries, as well, and there are also "farms" which rescue and rehabilitate other kinds of animals in nearly every country. Watch Bondi Vet and associated programs - they care for everything! Even snakes and cattle and alligators and tiny furry critters - everything imaginable. Those programs might lead you to finding a rescue center in your country where you could begin by volunteering your services.

    Good job with a home full of Vervets...they are just like a newborn human; but they grow fast and they are not pets...when I see video of someone with any monkey...well, like one has a 'program'...said she loved your channel and what you do; but then why did she get a baby monkey? The answer, in a nutshell, she could afford it. It was born in her country not brought in and she was giving it good care for a baby monkey. My answer is this..."so she encourages breeding in the countries that do; anyone think 'puppy mill'? You can afford it? Spend your money on projects like VMF! And, how does she know that what she is doing is for the monkey? The tiny diaper...for her, feed from bottle while holding and cooing...for her, give it tastes of things no monkey should eat, for her and possibly very bad for monkey..." Well, there's my rant for the day. Yawl do an awesome job and so do your VERVET FOSTER MOMs...I am still surprised by the process and how those Moms look excitedly at their choice of babies, every baby gets a mom (even little Vera)...

      @ it's not being cynical, it's being educated and caring about the future of a wild animal. It's purely selfish to "own" a monkey.

      @catc6050 3 года назад +6

      I 100% agree with you guys. They belong in the wild and it is extremely selfish to keep 1 as a pet.

    • @kratkyhomesteader9043
      @kratkyhomesteader9043 3 года назад +1

      @ Agreed. They are selfish in not allowing the monkey to have a normal monkey life.
      Perhaps we should suggest the reverse to them. Ask them what a perfect life they would have if they were adopted by a Vervet monkey, a hyena, a tiger or a camel. Remind them that the adoptive mothers would take the best, most loving care possible, teach them to live as perfectly as possible, give them the best they could of everything.
      Remind them that the adopters have no understanding of what is considered the "best" life for a human, but are simply offering the best monkey or hyena or tiger or camel life they could IMAGINE!! Imagining a life another species would find desirable, no matter how hard one tried, would be a very poor substitute for what the human would find truly desirable.
      Then ask them to just consider all this for a bit.

    • @catc6050
      @catc6050 3 года назад +2

    So hard to see all the needs and not be able to come there and help, especially with a cutie like CupCake, or the baby that just arrived with story patently untrue. What must change in the visa or travel situation to permit you to be having the normal complement of volunteers? Apparently you have volunteer wannabees waiting in the wings - what will free them to join you? I pray it will come loose soon and you will have more funds and more hands.
    Love these weekly videos of everything happening. That blessed Floki being the protector, though no doubt in a great deal of pain, and I do doubt he is on pain medications, sadly. Animals are not treated for pain in the much more casual way humans are. He is priceless. Hope he is adopted by someone very high ranking, and CupCake must surely be a princess among the queens!!!
    Sir, I asked recently, but think I might have inadvertently deleted my post or otherwise did not post it appropriately - why was not any form of true milk chosen as the "milk" for the babies? Seems so odd that you elected to use soy rather than goat, cow, sheep, some or other "real" milk. I wondered last week if soy was used to help keep the males and perhaps females as well, from having strong sexual intentions earlier than most of them do, helping to prevent pregnancies prior to the surgically-determined impossibility of such an event.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for your response on the soy milk. It seems here we always find a milk that works - for example very often goat's milk works for human babies who cannot take human or cow's milk, and one animal or another can donate for another animal's baby.
      Obviously, the soy combination you are using is working extremely well for the baby Vervet orphans, so you have done then right thing!

      If that were the right thing to do, put diapers on the babies because it is inconvenient to clean up after the babies which urinate or pass solid waste on the care-giver's clothing and on the floors which must then be cleaned up by the care-givers.
