    I really appreciate you're Excellent starting segment about why monkeys, as someone's pet, is always such a bad decision! It's a decision that is always regretted as the monkey grows older, and then when they realized their mistake, it's then already too late for the monkey, the damage has been done!

    Its so heartbreaking to see them lose their mom and what they go through but at least you guys are there to help them through it and them be able to have a life still, it's really a second chance at life for the ones that make it to you and most people probably don't realize how intelligent and social they really are. They get depressed over the situation, Its not like they lose there mom and overnight forget her, it's sad how they will cry for days calling out for mom even trying to fall asleep hear a noise and get frantic right back up to calling out again thinking it might be mom. It's nice to see them with others of their kind and size to comfort them better through the process. What you guys do is an pretty amazing thing for them

    Gosh, it's heartbreaking to listen to the newly orphaned babies crying for their mum. It must be so confusing for them. One minute they're with their mum and their Troop and the next mum is gone and they're taken away by humans. Thank God for people like you though. It's very sad how many of these little monkeys become orphans. It's my understanding that locals don't necessarily like these monkeys and kill them sometimes. Then there are many who are hit by cars , leaving their babies alone. It's all so sad. But what you do is wonderful. I so wish I lived in South Africa and could be a volunteer to help you lovely people take care of them.

    Your work is so important to the spieces. I have learned so much from following you guys. One thing that is so important is learning about the foster mom program. I see so many monkeys (Cambodia especially) where the monkeys are just left at the ruins thinking they will just join a troop and everything will be fine. Some babies, after been taken from their families, are literally given to females thinking they will take care of them. The babies are terrified, the females are aggressive and it's so distressing to watch. People need to educate themselves if they are going to get a pet monkey (OR NOT) so at least they understand something about how they live in troops. I respect you guys so much for the good that you do.
    If I was younger I would volunteer and if I was rich, I would donate lol!

    Id love to volunteer to take care of little monkeys. Too bad I'm on the wrong damn continent. I volunteer at the animal adoption shelter here in US in the state of Delaware where I live. Cats and dogs there but mostly dogs no monkeys though. Wish there was a similar place here that's for primates but the North American continent has no indigenous monkey population except for some small troops in Florida that are the result of abandoned and escaped monkey pets due to storms destroying pet stores. They look to be Rhesus or Longtail Macaques. But then again if there were a monkey rescue here it would be bad because that would mean more orphans and dead mothers. Selfish on my part I guess but they are fascinating to me. Ther little faces and vocalizations

    Dave, is there a video about how you started the foundation and about how you came to bringing it all together? I feel there might be one but I can't find it or maybe I imagined it...lol . Either way would love to watch a bio about you and the foundation! 💛❤️💛❤️
    P.S. sooo happy flocky (sorry if that is wrong) is doing better with his leg lots of love and positive vibes on the way!!!! 🌈

      Voluteers when they come hear get an introductory talk on how it all started, I am not keen on making a video as its not really about me at all, we all know that it takes support and help from many people to actually do something like this and its those people the focus needs to be on as ultimately they ones who have made it what it is and who will carry it on into the future.

    Hey Dave. One average, how many babies do you think you may get in on a yearly basis?
    Also, do you know what it may cost to care for a baby from the time it arrives at the Foundation until a Foster Mom takes him/her to a troop? I'm just wondering if $100.00 that donate a month is enough?

    • @waitaminute2015
      @waitaminute2015 3 года назад

      Good question. I imagine that cost would fluctuate depending on total donations. I think there's an email somewhere you could ask. I don't know if they can respond much here.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  3 года назад +4

      as the bandits are free roaming its difficult to monitor the wellbeing of the infant, if something goes wrong the chances of getting a bandit into an intro cage is not that easy - that said we have given a bandit that has recently lost a baby a replacement as she was able to feed the baby

      Oh I wish I could go to Africa. I would love to help because I love animals especially monkeys. I'm always trying to find more documentaries on them. I learn about them and how they live in their own habitate. I use to want a monkey for a pet until I learned about them and I know God did not create them for us humans to treat them like pets. Africa is not in my reach right now, but I pray for strength in you minds, bodies and and spirit to continue to do the great work that your doing.

    I wish these Monkey OWNERS would watch your programme. Some of them truly make for an embarrassment of the Monkeys with dresses & head pieces. One Channel Baby Monkey Mona & Donna makes complete fools of the monkeys with his dressing up. He has at least 4 & one is moving toward aggressiveness towards extended family members. Unfortunately I don’t know whether he’s in Cambodia or Vietnam. These people really need to surrender their animals to Sanctuaries or their Govts move to confiscate the animals. Hopeless trying to report them through RUclips.

    • @pegberthold3988
      @pegberthold3988 3 года назад

      Those baby monkeys in countries you mentioned were poached from their mothers who are usually killed to get the baby. They are sold on the black market to these Vietnamese and Cambodians who make literally many thousands of dollars monthly through the videos they post, that appeal to people because the babies look humanized. When the baby is no longer young and cute, IF they live that long, they disappear,...killed or released into the wild where they are killed by the resident wild troop. There are agencies in those countries who are supposed to stop this illegal activity and punish the captors, but it is commonly believed that they are paid to ignore the situation. Even You Tube and FB won't stop posting the videos, I have tried, as you have as well I see. Their response is that they are not in violation of their community rules. So for me, to be able to see all the loving sacrifices made by Dave and the VFM "family" is very heartwarming and uplifting. Also, because I could become a member and donate monthly (membership donations start at $4.00/month I think) I feel blessed that in some small way I am a part of what they do. (Of course, I wanted the mug with the group picture of Toni, Dora, Viktor and Pascall, so they are with me when I have my morning coffee.) Thanks so much for trying to get You Tube to act.

      Yeah, I agree with Michael Jones. Just look at the Cambodia monkey videos; example the foster parents of Koki - the baby monkey being ill-treated and abused in their own home and at the cattle field . They are real bullies and enjoy videoing the baby monkey with other puppies. Arrgh, so angry at them !

      They didn't take this baby from the wild monkey (bandit) you saw at the fence. This baby was rescued because it's mom was killed in an accident. All the babies here are rescue babies. Dave and his group would never take a baby from it's mom. They care for them and then at the right time the baby is adopted by a mom and joins a troop. Please watch more videos as they follow the babies story from rescue to adoption. These people are AMAZING!!!

      The adult females are foster moms, they help raise the babies. With feeding stations and with baby bottles hang in them, only babies can fit in hole to enter. They don't take babies from their moms. Unless they help and injured baby, and they would for sure get it back to mom.

      You do know this is a SANCTUARY, right? They rehabilitate and release babies (sometimes older former pets) that have lost their moms due to traps, car accidents, shootings, etc. The long and short of it is babies pick a foster mom and go live wild.
