Monkey gets viciously attacked and bitten yet still sits there after the Marten backs off for a moment. I guess that's why nobody ever said they were the brightest of species
It's already injured before the Martin started attacking, hence that's why it's on the road and not up in the trees. This video shows the end result showing the exhausted monkey with no strength left
You can see that the langur seems tired and exhausted. Martens have incredible stamina and will wear the monkey down, repeadetly biting it and injuring it bit by bit until they are to tired and worn out to fight back. You could see a second marten there. They deffinetly had a feast that night
I read they just kill for sports, in china a released panda was found attacked by one of these, the marten bit off it's belly and exposed the intestine, it later died during surgery to save it, the marten was never found and is still on the run.

Hey all .. while scrolling down the comments, one common question i encountered is why the langur was unable to flee from the spot ------------- Well, if you can zoom in the video you will find scares and marks all over it's body which martens made( moment not captured in video) . Moreover, marten continously attacked the armpit of langur because of which it was unable to run away or climb on the tree I have also uploaded a video in which the langur was trying to walk away and escape the attack but was unable to Check out that aswell Thanks :)
In To The Wild - With Ashish May I suggest that the monkey was old or unwell anyway which is why it was on the path in the first place, perhaps looking for tit bits from the tourists.
Damn!I swear, EVERY member of the weasel family are a bunch of badasses! "Wolverine" from X-Men, and don't forget the Honey Badger who straight up don't give a shit!
Obviously the monkey was sickly and the marten, like any predator, instinctively senses that it's not a threat but instead one heck of a meal. Thanks for sharing this unique video.
Their hunting strategy is pretty straight-forward and very similar to the honey badger cousins. - Stalk and watch the prey. - Stay quick and agile to get in the prey blind spot. (Circling and getting into blind spots) - Immobilise the prey (Biting the armpit and tail of the langur to stop it from running and climbing) - Tire the prey (Constant circling to tire out the prey) - Finish the prey or let it bleed out. (Chance are they most likely finished off the langur later on when it was tired) They also hunt in small packs. In the beginning, a second marten was seen to the right of the camera. Chances are they took turns in taking bites at the langur to save energy and take turns in resting. Its possible they may have attacked simultaneously, later on, to finish off the prey and drag it away. In other words, they are very intelligent animals and, despite their size, are a force to be reckoned with. In larger packs, they have been known to take on pandas in the wild.
I never knew they would hunt prey this size. I was under the thought they hunted smaller prey such as rats, snakes, birds etc. Although my heart breaks seeing this monkey attacked it's also fascinating watching the determination of the attack. They definitely don't give up easy.

Marten, one of my favorite animals, along with the goshawk, harpy eagle, african crowned eagle, jaguar, alpha male grey wolf, arabian horse, orca, bull shark, red panda.
odd user the video has been posted to show the hunting behaviour of the martens and to tell how these small creatures can fearlessly take on the bigger creatures The langur probably would not had survived as it was brutally injured and also when you zoom in the video you can easily spot marks on the body of langur
It's a hunting strategy. The marten does this for hours on end and wears the langur down over time. Eventually the langur can't fight back because of exhaustion and several small yet strategically placed injuries. I would say based on both of the animals level of exhaustion this has already been going on for hours.
The Langur is playing, the marten is probably serious and would, if it could, get in a throat bite. They are engaging each other but have different agendas. The marten probably won't bite seriously until it can get to the throat, it will pretend to play. So the Langur is in more danger than it realises, but it didn't take too many chances either.
Nature doesn't allow anything to be understood perfectly well. There are always con games being played. The martins instinct would be to play, it might hardly be aware of it until it gets a chance to kill. The Langur could have walked away but probably couldn't be bothered. But we don't even know if the video is in a natural setting. And I didn't see any blood or obvious injury. Maybe the Langur is lovesick and dicing with death.
That monkey had to be sick. Wessels are tough, but they are no match for a healthy monkey, especially one twice its size. Its not like its a defenseless rabbit, Monkeys have arms and teeth and I have seen what they have done to people when they attack, so a healthy one should be able to rip a wessel in half, just my opinion.
A key aspect of weasels and other animals of the weasel family is to attack, kill and eat animals much larger than them. Wild ferrets, weasels, stoats, etc. kill rabbits and hares many times their sizes all the time.
John Falcigie I agree in regards to the monkey. Was just pointing out that it's known and documented that many species of the weasel family do attack and kill prey and predators much larger than them.
The might have ran away to save thier lives first. If you will search regarding the hunting pattern of the martens, they pick one out of the troop and chase it untill it gets exhausted probably making it fall of the tree. Once it gets injured, they attack on the armpits making the misery a lot more and then going all out on the prey
Langurs usually move in troops. This one is all alone, which means it’s sick or old or both, and wants to spend its last days alone. Even if the weasel eventually kills it, it is o.k. as the weasel family will have food for several days. That’s how Nature works - absolutely no wastage.
There's a lot of cases where monkeys die over a Martin. I just don't get it like, why won't he fight back or run. Last similar video I've seen, the monkey died hopeless.
If you will search regarding the hunting behaviour of martens, the result would show that they chase there prey and make it fall from a height . Once the prey is injured, they would take it down slowly by attacking multiple times. Same happened here but we only witnessed what has been shown here
Clearly predation is a choice. That monkey if healthy can pick up the marten and smash it, but it chose not to. Maybe it's very sick. Marten is relentless and fearless.
@bara yaa a heatlyh is insane..a langur can easy grip..and bite the marten i have seen one.. Mongoose been lpse fight. Pig tailed macaque he grap and bite
Something is definitely not right with this langur. They usually attack back very ferociously, it's really not that simple to just get close to it and try to have a bite. This one was either too old or sick, otherwise it really is not that much of an easy prey
The Yellow-Throated Marten/Kharza (Charronia Flavigula) is like China's version of the Fossa (Cryptoprocta Ferox), however the two similar-looking animals are not related, the yellow-throated marten is a member of the family Ictonychidae, whilst the fossa belongs to the family Eupleridae, Ictonychidae belongs to the superfamily Musteloidea within the suborder Caniformia, whilst Eupleridae belongs to the superfamily Viverroidea within the suborder Feliformia.
I've seen a handful of these videos and it always seems like the monkey thinks it's a game. They never try to run even after they start getting bitten really hard. Also it seems like the monkey could easily reach over and pick it up and smash it on the ground. Or jump into the tree.
That is a marten not a mongoose, these animals belong to entirely different families, martens are in the family Ictonychidae whilst mongooses are any animal of the family Herpestidae, Ictonychidae belongs to the superfamily Musteloidea within the suborder Caniformia whilst Herpestidae belongs to the superfamily Viverroidea within the suborder Feliformia.
Martens have injured the langur by constantly attacking him It tried to run but was unable to walk and kept falling down as it had no strength left in it
+Jaime Martinez Sables, martens, minks, badgers and weasels are all related carnivorous predators. Had the second marten joined into the attack at 0:17 the monkey would have been dead meat for sure.
oh man... looks can really be deceiving... this actually reminds me of that cute dinosaur in jurassic park which suddenly turns into a deadly ferocious looking thing and spits toxins on the fat dude's face, when his car breaks down.. jesus...
Ha ha are u kidding? That monkey is very thin especially its arms, almost same weight of Martin. It can't do anything. These langur monkeys don't even bite anyone, most calm species of monkeys
Martens usually hunts on a prey much bigger in size than them and in this case, it was langur Even if we had intervened , the langoor would have any way died as it was injured badly and was barely able to walk away Also one is not allowed to disturb any wild acts inside the jungle
How on earth do you want me to talk? And i have no proof of having it unless you want me to find my old phone and email you pictures. So a debate over whether or not i had it will be pointless.I had that type of monkey (Langur). We called her Sarah. And for 5 years and idc if u believe it or not.
Zea Row chill dude...maybe Rahul was a pet or slave before...he just wants to talk about his feelings... Maybe his owner treat his badly... So he became lilbit sensitive when someone talk about penting an animal
is it a female languar? -and thus -with very small canines -unlike the males who have enormous canines ? you said the languar was already injured before you began filming -is that correct ? I could guess it was either an unlucky or elderly or sick languar ? who knows ?I wouldn't have thought generally a healthy male languor could ever be approached even by a yellow throated marten -but maybe a female langaur without the canines could and certainly a sick or elderly languar or a youngster -you got to admire the marten -for taking on such a potentially dangerous foe and I am sure he eventually killed the languar or fatally wounded it - just a wonderful but brutal piece of video -thanks for the upload
Hi steve cook , the langoor was already injured. when we reached on the spot the langoor was on the ground and both martens, male and female were badly biting him . But after our arrival , female became hesitant to come in open and only male kept attacking on langoor . As we were there for about 50 minutes so the martens become aware and a little bit frightened also. We returned the same spot after one hour and found no trace of langoor and martens.
I would think that a Marten could easily take a baby Langur. Looks like he is having trouble with an adult. Its almost like the monkey is playing with the Marten instead of fighting for his life.

Don't know why I find it funny but 2 me it is when the monkey just politely takes its tale back from the marten like it wasn't just chewing on it lol
Martens had injured the langoor because of which it was unable to run or flee away
That Marten is a really beautiful creature, and what is it with animals with this body type, otters, weasels, they are incredibly effective...
We're devolving. That's for sure.
Weasel family are blood thirsty killers. Very effective.😊
Why the just staying...
He is not running or climbing to the tress?
Langur was injured and martens took advantage of it
The Yellow-Throated Marten/Kharza (Charronia Flavigula) is like China's version of the Fossa (Cryptoprocta Ferox), however the two similar-looking animals are not related, the yellow-throated marten is a member of the family Ictonychidae, whilst the fossa belongs to the family Eupleridae, Ictonychidae belongs to the superfamily Musteloidea within the suborder Caniformia, whilst Eupleridae belongs to the superfamily Viverroidea within the suborder Feliformia.
Ommygoooood man...this one another family from wolverin... little badass animal my ever seen
Ferrets are related to these as well
But they got the fun gene, i think.
Langur had him at 3:45 but it looks like a Langur injured or not doesn't have a killer instinct.
I've seen a handful of these videos and it always seems like the monkey thinks it's a game. They never try to run even after they start getting bitten really hard. Also it seems like the monkey could easily reach over and pick it up and smash it on the ground. Or jump into the tree.
Martin's climn too.😮
seems like that monkey may have been sick being alone without its monkey peer group per se...
Who made this video he is most higher sick
Seemed like that monkey had several opportunities to just run away, and climb a tree. For some reason, it opted not to. Odd.
Did anyone bother to take pictures????Could you send them to me? need receipts of this action. thnx
Hi
Sorry. No images taken during the scene . We only shot the video
@@AshishJain I really meant it as a joke. I guess it was in bad taste. I do apologize
😊👍
Omg that mongoose daring to eat the langur. Surprising
Was this monkey sick or weak ? It just looks like isn’t giving much of a fight like he gave up
Thinking the same way.
Martens have injured the langur by constantly attacking him
It tried to run but was unable to walk and kept falling down as it had no strength left in it
Talk about energy! Damn~
That marten wore me out just by watching it lol
They might be small in size but are one of the ferocious hunters
amazing footage, but why the langur doesn't climbe a tree? there's one not far...
if you see people being murdered by other people don't do anything. it is part of nature, just enjoy and record some footage
I don't agree because the number of murders will increase.. If u see some1 killing another be prave and inform to the police......
Fuck off basturd..he is inocent langur.
coldplay261021 it's nature dumbass let it run its course survival of the strongest nature has its way of weeding out the weak.
Pete Sutton when u go tp safari and see a lion killing Buffalo, what will you do?
Advant Garde no thanks. Who am I to put the deer's life above the alligator's? Just let nature run its course
It appears that they they're just playing, no? Beautiful coloring and markings on these martens.
They are just playing games, you know, high school
Wasn't it being friendly.. ? just curious...
+Vinod Kumar No. A marten is a very ferocious meat-eating predator capable of tackling a prey twice its size as it attempted to do in this video.
+King Snowman yes,I saw a sable(kind of marten) attack a young deer,of course he lost,but damn.they're bad ass
+Jaime Martinez Sables, martens, minks, badgers and weasels are all related carnivorous predators. Had the second marten joined into the attack at 0:17 the monkey would have been dead meat for sure.
+King Snowman yes,so true
oh man... looks can really be deceiving...
this actually reminds me of that cute dinosaur in jurassic park which suddenly turns into a deadly ferocious looking thing and spits toxins on the fat dude's face, when his car breaks down.. jesus...
The horrifying beauty of nature
Isn't this animal called Nilgiri Martin?
No it is yellow throated marten
Great jiu-jitsu by Mr. Marten
Wow what a raw animal that Marten is.Havent seen that one before..
That langur is a fair bit bigger. He could have just grabbed the marten by its skinny neck and flung him.
Ha ha are u kidding? That monkey is very thin especially its arms, almost same weight of Martin. It can't do anything. These langur monkeys don't even bite anyone, most calm species of monkeys
Why couldn't it just run away to a tree?
And why it is alone
too tired to run away probably and the marten would just follow it
Injured badly by the attacks of the martens..
I've saw it on discovery.. this monkey is already injured..that's why he attacked him
Kyu bolte ho English jb nhi bol sakte
@@nitinsingh7136 to tum sikha do bhai
@@RahulSharma-mt5um sure bhai!
Why doesn't the langur go up in the tree?
It's definitely in the Weasel family. The languor seemed to like the game as he stays and waits for the Weasel to do its thing. LOL!
Haha, actually, it's because it's in tremendous pain after the marten ripped its armpit open
Why inidans are recording while some one is trying to attack their god
Martens usually hunts on a prey much bigger in size than them and in this case, it was langur
Even if we had intervened , the langoor would have any way died as it was injured badly and was barely able to walk away
Also one is not allowed to disturb any wild acts inside the jungle
The langoor seems to be drugged or severely I'll!
Langoor was suffering with multiple injuries because of which it was unable to handle the attack
Nice video 👍👍👍👍😍
New Tactic: Run around your opponent until they get Dizzy, then go in for the Attack!!
Nice video..😢👌👌👌👌👌
yo no entiendo por q no se va el mono!
esta herido
Esta pendejo
very strange reaction of langoor, is he sick or otherwise. Naturally not defending as he is capable.
That marten is adorable! Such a little spitfire!!!
I wonder why the monkey didn't climb a tree? Was it already injured when filming began?
Yupp, martens had already injured this langur by making it fall of the tree. Once the langur was down, they attacked him in tits and bits
Nooooo. i had this type of monkey as a pet for 5 years. It hurts when it screams like that.
Rahul Modgil, they will talk however they want to talk. Please, shut up!
Zea Row I agree completely I was very angry when they allowed this to happen
is it a female languar?
Hi steve cook ,
the langoor was already injured. when we reached on the spot the langoor was on the ground and both martens, male and female were badly biting him .
That's what I'm saying. That langur could've fucked that little think up
Christopher Franklin yeah too bad the marten didn't finish it off :'(
langur jhaad pe ni chadte kya???
Martens are relentless. They wear their prey down and then make the kill.

Bhai langoor Mar Gaya yah Bach gaya tha yah bhi batao
Hum logoo ko beech mein he jana pada tha kyuki hamara safari time khatam ho raha tha. Langur bach nahi paya hoga kyuki vo bohot kamzoor ho chuka tha aur usmein jaan nahi thi bhagney ki ya pedh par chadh kar bachney ki
Martin's are beautiful, AND deadly.
is that hanoman sick?
