@bonsai barry very true, I also learned the Inland Taipan (most venomous) is a shy personality snake (runaway) when encounter humans or dangerous foes, however, the black mamba (2nd most venomous) is a ferocious snake fighter personality in which behaves like an engaging warrior when meeting us humans or danger like this mongoose

As a kid of about 14 yrs old, I had a pet mongoose, which brought me endless pleaure. It slept in bed with me at night, nibbling my toes gently until my feet moved into a position where he could snuggle in. I fed him anything from porridge to meat. They attach to only one person, and - being very protective - are inclined to bite anyone else who touches their 'master'! They are also very clever and he used to run about three street blocks, and wait in a storm water pipe for me to come out of school. When he saw me, he would come running to me, and I would pick him up, place him in my book bag and carry him home. Extremely loyal and loving. The very best pet and friend I ever had! The privilege and joy of growing up in Africa!

Mamba's venom breaks many animals immunity though. I've seen bigcats and other large animals survive cobra bite but mambas venom is something else. Idk if mongoose is immune to mamba venom, but mambas are the fastest snake and they keep striking.

venom resistance is not the same as immunity. It means that the mongoose can handle a moderate amount of snake venom without taking serious damage.
I've heard mongoose can take like 5 or 6 bites from a cobra before it feels any effect from the venom.
That makes more sense, as to why it needs to dodge and not just tank the hits.

honey badgers can survive a hit from a machete, plus their skin is almost impervious to arrows and spears. they can also survive a male lions full bite force beacuse their skin is loose and lions can't get a grip. magoose has no chance of winning if you add the size difference. honey badgers are 5-10 kg heavier.

Good idea...EXCEPT.....I am a Texas transplant to the big island of Hawaii (which does not have snakes) However, mongoose were brought over here to control a rat population. End result - almost all species of "exotic" birds wiped out (on the big island - don't know about the other islands) because the mongoose got to the eggs. The jungles here are crawling with mongoose. The huge population of snakes in the Everglades MIGHT keep them busy enough. But, ya gotta know.....once you introduce mongoose, you will have them forever. They are tough and prolific - I'm not aware of any predator they have.

@oddity21 i should be able to go for a walk in the woods and not worry about accidentally getting too close to a small but dangerous animal without even seeing it until it's too late. If the snake cannot distinguish between a human passing by and a genuine aggressor, the problem is with the animal, not the human.

I never knew that mongoose were immune to the venom. That makes their tactics even better- it's like they're just taunting and toying with the snakes.
Being bitten changes the calculations though. It probably would have left if it took a hit from that venom because its only "immune" against so much. Eventually it will die through it's mutation wall. As long as it never gets bitten it's immune. If it does get bit now it's no longer "immune" and future bites can start to be fatal again.

I would watch an entire show that only includes fights between Mongoose and a Snake. I find these fights very entertaining.
