Years later, this is still getting views, so before you go in the comments to shit on me, please read this: - it was my first playthrough, 100% blind - I had not read anything prior to getting into the game - It was pretty much the beginning of that playthrough (as you can guess by the levels/gear or rather lack thereof) - I was, in fact, blind to the retreat option - yes, the warning is crystal clear to some, but I always. crave. the void. peace
Oh my God, I just had that exact look stuck on my face for what felt like an eternity when I got sucked in to my first Shambler encounter. It was after deciding that no, I wasn't going to return to the Hamlet, I was going to get that last curio that ended up just being a torch sconce.
The comp was good actually, she could have focused the spawnlings and actually use the support abilities of her crusaders to get their heroes out of death's door.
@@e-toli636 first thing about fighting shambler is to change the positioning of your party before the encounter bc almost always shuffle your group, in the video shuffle 3 of 4, for example for her fight must move vestal to 1 and MAA to 4(crusaders dont matter bc have good skillset) from there you can just start the fight, obviously choose a good skillset especially knowing the shuffle. I think can be done with that composition not problem at all, i have done with really worst comp in champion.
She was so clueless about everything, letting the little shambler dudes buff themselves so much that the heroes couldn't do anything to them. Shame on you, you should know better than to summon eldritch horrors into reality.
3:42 that was the game-losing turn right there. She had her MaA at position 3 and opt for Retribution instead of Rampart and this single move ultimately cost her the whole party. If she chose to Rampart instead, her MaA would Foward 1, putting himself into pos2. After Vestal Back on her turn, MaA would be at pos1 while both crusaders would be at pos3 and pos4, ideal for Holy Lance, which is her main damage here. Also, after the Holy Lances, the Vestal could end up further back, which would allow her to properly heal her MaA. But she used Retribution, which marked her own MaA (which was the most critical character in both hp and stress) and kept him at pos3, which assured that her Crusader and Vestal would be stuck at pos1 and pos2 (which forced her to use sub-optimal heals in their turns), not being able to focus heal her MaA. He then died and the fight is pretty much doomed from there on.
Always kill the sycophants and chip the the shambler's hp down the fight goes pretty well, the abomination or leper can use rake or hew to instantly kill the 2 sycophants and use the other party members to dmg the shambler
This was pretty dumb. Didn't she see the buffs on the sycophants? She had turns to heal her characters and chose to use the vestal to hit. Dumb. At least, use her to stun when you don't need healing. She should have used Bolster on 1st turn. Not taking care of the MAT was dumb as hell.
lol you are capable of *running away* from any battle if it goes wrong. Well, as long as it isn't the first turn when being surprised. Would've saved the loot at least
1) Why she takes half a minute to make obviuos turns where there's only 1 option present? 2) Why no killing tentacles? 3) Why no retreat button? 4) I have almost 2K hours on Darkest Dungeon and my eyes bleed

Best part is the chat, this one fucking simp who straight up comments literally everything that's happening lol

First DD rule: never face a fkin Lovecraftian cosmic horror with grey armors and weapons and a team comp 3/4 tanks
Two crusaders with holy lance would crush the fight
The comp was good actually, she could have focused the spawnlings and actually use the support abilities of her crusaders to get their heroes out of death's door.
Of course chat was too late to tell her, I love Shambler reactions
When you forget that the retreat button is an option...
so were they still in a good formation by the end?
it wasn’t a good formation at all lol

Nah her main mistake was thinking she could ignore the sycophants the whole fight

Ah yes, I remember now: my first TPK was the Shambler Altar. Made me never want to touch those things ever again 😂
The biggest mistake was fighting the Cosmic Horror boss with Tier 1 characters and one Tier 2 is not enough, should of flee when there was a chance

you were doing fine i would've attacked more instead of healing with the banner but you did your best.

Overconfidence is a slow and Insidious killer. . . .
Why is she passing turns instead of moving her vestal ? Shambler is tough but it seems like bad strategy most of all
