I've followed the method from the start, but I still have a problem where my VMware freezes when starting Ubuntu. can anyone help me in another way?

When Ubuntu is frozen press Alt + Tab to switch between the open windows. If you do this to all open windows it defrozes Ubuntu and you can work with it as long as no screen saver starts again.
