I was a technician many years ago when the top tech was electronic ignition and krypton analysers were massive. So I am appreciative of how far technology has moved on and the skills needed to rectify faults these days! Great videos. Keep up the great work. From a fellow Scot down south.
a rare find indeed .. young man you are the benchmark of what can be achieved if you apply your self pay attention to detail and your training to end up a highly professional customer focused ,puntual and presentable and .whoever schooled you should also be given a shout Fill yer boots kid 🏴☠️
Always good content showing common faults. Really good repairs and we could do with technicians like you down south as many main dealerships haven't got a clue. Keep up the videos.
Hooray from NZ, great work man! 75 year old mechanic here, all I I know is my apprenticeship started in uk 1964 and you never stop learning. Well done for your awesome content thank you. Best regards.....Rob
I had a similar issue as your first van on my 2008 Nissan interstar this winter. I followed the same process as you and replaced the abs pump which did not solve the problem. I evenly found the actual problem which was the female connectors between the loom block and the abs unit were loose and not making good connections.
we had this exact same reading from the same model van last week and after trying 2 aftermarket wheel speed sensors and then a dealer one with no results we compared the original sensors with what was being supplied and found they were very different, we took the part number from the original sensor and got a dealer one again and were told by the dealer this would be wrong for the vehicle as they are sided (which is nonsense) we fitted the sensor and it worked fine, so check the part number of original...
Hi this is the first of your videos I have watched and I learned something new straight away where you tested the earth 👍 I e subscribed in the hope of learning more
These videos have made me want to dig deeper with checking for wire breaks bad voltages and so on as usually I would only do mechanical work but nowadays car wire looms are giving up more and more! Can’t count how many times a customers has wanted me to change his alternator and it’s a broken earth wire lol.
Great video and nice to see a knowledgeable young mechanic search for faults and not go replacing everything. Hope you got that Nissan can sorted. Thanks for sharing this video....
Fantastic mate, I don't live too far from you. I will give you a ring when I need help. I had several problems with a car I had (both electrically and mechanically) and at least five mechanics couldn't diagnose it. Spent ££££s on it too then ended up scrapping it. Keep up the good work!
This is why i gave up being a mechanic as everything is to technical and electrical 20 years ago and just carry on with welding and fabrication as nothing on vehicles are simple any more and built cheap but fair play to you being a young bloke in the trade 👍
On the Nissan you need to check that the rear discs have the reluctor ring fitted,I’ve had new discs delivered before and they have come without them fitted
My mercedes boot catch was stuck so couldn't close it . I was told it was all to be stripped out . 100s of pounds of work plus parts vat the lot. I gets home wd 40 on it . Never has a problem since.
Typically if it was both rears the chances of both being faulty are slim. I would have done the wiring load tests and put a sensor simulator on them to see if live data picks up the info
You need to purchase a power probe or a similar tool that lets you apply 12 volts and/or a ground to a circuit instead of using that jump box. Makes your life & troubleshooting much easier to ensure wiring integrity. .
Yas… 🏴 just came across your channel & your not far away from me, wondering if you could help fix abs control module fault on 2011 Passat B7.. Not used it much, been sitting for good few months with flat battery then this control module fault appeared in Address 53: Parking Brake...01316 - ABS Control Module 013 - Check DTC Memory..... Also same in Address 44: Steering Assist ....01316 - ABS Control Module 013 - Check DTC Memory Address 03: ABS Brakes .... 03842 - RPM Sensor Rear Right: Incorrect Signal 000 - - wont clear... Any help would be much apperciate checked fuses in engine and all look good
Great info as always i work mobile like yourself I noticed you use hella for your wiring diagrams I have all data and auto data but thinking just to have the hella what’s your thoughts on it? Thanks
The circuit was disconnected from the vehicle side. Depending on the type of circuit you can use different current loads Leds draw very minimal current which is why higher current/load is needed for true figures Cheers, Ryan
Hi I’ve just started watching your channel and very good too . Can I ask what scoop do you use hand held and is it ok on injectors on hand Td4 freelander 1 . Any info would be great .
@@mrautoservices7354 I’ve taken a look at the product and there are a few is there any chance you could give me the right one make model number please . Automobile one with pre loaded info .
Know your basics, I wonder if the 6 before you on the nissan did not want to condemn the ABS pump as its an expensive part, and did not want to take a chance
SPENT A MONTH OF EVENINGS TRYING TO FIND INTERMITTENT REAR LIGHT SHORT IN FIRE DAMAGED CAR. TURNED OUT DEALER HAD FITTED TOW BAR WHEN IT WAS MEANT TO BE FACTORY FITTED TOWBAR. WIRING RUBBING OUT OF VIEW.
Had that with a car I bought last year. I travelled about 20 miles on the way home from buying it and the dash light up like a Christmas tree (VW) 😂. I couldn't believe my luck.
The abs pump is bad… Wiring checks complete and sensors were new from previous garage No more testing can be done that would conclude otherwise, Thanks for watching
You say at the end of the first job, with abs problem. The only option youve got is to order new abs unit. Was that a lucky guess? I think your better than that, maybe you were up against the clock.
Why didn't you use volt drop on the earth, that is the proper way to diagnose it. One lead on battery Earth, the other on Engine, any volts showing, means bad or broken earth lead.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
I love fault finding videos, really informative mate.
It's so refreshing to see, that there is; an auto electrical fault finding mechanic, that really knows his job. Your videos are very informative 👍👍👍
Thanks for your comment Michael
A real pleasure to watch you work through the process.😀👍

It will be on a up and coming video for sure

Where did you get the mounting bracket for the Phoenix plus in your van please?
Its just a generic amazon buy bud it is under (sciuU Under Desk Holders)
that was a good spot fella . those rub though’s can be a pain in the ass to find on intermittent faults 👍
Thanks for watching Paul 👍
Hi, Can you tell me which Topdon Diagnostic you have please.
Never got this trouble with the good old reliable analog cars
Great videos, how would you have diag the Abs sensors on the Nissan if you you were the first to look at it
Typically if it was both rears the chances of both being faulty are slim. I would have done the wiring load tests and put a sensor simulator on them to see if live data picks up the info

I don't know what you are doing, but you sure know what you are doing . Excellent video 👍😎
3:11 "Left hand rear right... left hand front right..." that's a neat trick! I think you mean left hand rear and left hand front haha
What the heck, no plastic conduit along that cable from new?
I didn't realise spud from trainspotting had gotten into mechanics.
Don’t have anything good to say…Don’t watch 🙏

Most of these garages now a days if the diagnostics don't tell them the faults they haven't got a clue
Diagnostic tool from temu ? "past" :)
GREAT STUFF ,RYAN , CHEERS
Great video as always. Did you go through an apprenticeship scheme? what was the name of it ? thanks
I'm a simple man I see your videos even before Ive watched it I press like 😂❤
Thanks for watching the channel Shahislam
Great info as always i work mobile like yourself I noticed you use hella for your wiring diagrams I have all data and auto data but thinking just to have the hella what’s your thoughts on it? Thanks
Hella is great for diagrams, Anything else like locations etc all data is better
I like Hella gutman alot 👍
Another great video 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching buddy 👍👍
How did you know the last one was a bad earth? And not a bad battery or bad positive connection?
With a bulb like that, is there a danger of overloading a circuit? Would an LED not be safer? I always worry I'll fry something (no oil needed)!
The circuit was disconnected from the vehicle side.
Depending on the type of circuit you can use different current loads
Leds draw very minimal current which is why higher current/load is needed for true figures

me too bud, This one was electrical based fault as it doesn’t clear on ignition 👍

You spelled fitter wrong 😂😂😂 real mechanics like yourself are a rare breed these days you’re not charging enough 👍🏻
PAST - should that be Passed ?
Always enjoy your vids. The weather's lovely, in its way ^^
Very good, but I'd just add that anything under 12.4 volt and the battery is finished.
Don't put you diag box on the steering wheel if the air bag goes off for some reason you will be left with serious damage to you face etc.
You only have a suspected bad ABS pump on the Nissan; you've not confirmed it. Diagnose Dan would confirm the pump's bad before ordering
The abs pump is bad… Wiring checks complete and sensors were new from previous garage
No more testing can be done that would conclude otherwise, Thanks for watching
What a knob Julian. Excellent work as per ryan
655 is default value for faulty control module 10 second diagnosis
🤣🤣 If it was only that easy, it also shows default value like 655 when unplugged too so not a 10 second diagnosis buddy…
@@mrautoservices7354 yet you still done a load test on the harness
