The best Office episodes are talked about a lot across the internet. The episode that usually gets mentioned is Dinner Party, which is maybe Michael Scott at his funniest, and Fire Drill is often not far behind. I think that the perfect Office episode is actually neither of those, it's the injury. This is Dwight, Jim and Michael all at their very best and funniest but it's just how much it embodies what makes the show great, that really separates it.

Who are the best and worst office characters?
Twitter: @nerdstalgicyt
Michael
Cathy
Jim
Nelly
Best: Jim
Worst: Ryan
Best:Dwight
Worst: Unknown
I think jim is the best because hes the one that lets us see the office as it is and maybe the worst main cast character is toby hes similar to jim as in hes just a normal guy but just boring to watch
Even after his concussion, Dwight still knew exactly when to say “That’s what she said”
Thats My Joke, damn it dwight
@@fam6883 dwigt*
Hahaha muscle memory
And possibly the most organic use of the rejoinder from the entire series. Damn it Dwight! 😄
“You can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van” definitely an overlooked joke
That was the best line ever!
What a perfect episode of The Office looks like:
-Michael getting himself into trouble
-PB&J being cute
-Jim messing with Dwight
-Emotional moment that results in character growth for one of the main characters
-Strong cold open
-Amazing jokes throughout
For these reasons, I think "Money" & "Casino Night" could possibly be the best episodes of The Office
this was a great vid. two other episodes i really love are Local Ad and The Surplus
the injury has always been my favorite!! i’ve seen it way too many times lol
I still consider Dinner Party better because it doesn't rely on the "premise" of the show. Purely on characters, writing, and performance. You make a lot of excellent points here, but, I urge you to consider the time when Dinner Party was a brand new episode. The series was perfectly building up to Michael's personal life imploding gloriously. And it succeeded wildly.
the spray bottle is one of the best things
Stress Relief Part 1 is my favorite episode
Dinner Party reminded me of a British show my gf made me watch called "Friday Night Dinner" which was an 11/10 show.
Yes, I've only recently watched the Office lol
For years, this has been the episode I've suggested for people as the perfect entry point for the Office. I only tell them about Dwight and Angela's affair beforehand so that one scene where Dwight slaps her butt doesn't feel as out of place. Other than that, you really don't need to know anything beforehand to appreciate it. You can understand almost every joke even if you don't know who these characters are before diving in.
Meanwhile, The Dinner can only be truly funny if you already understand the relationship between the characters. Seeing Jan in that episode is so funny because you know who she was earlier, and how much in control she pretended to be. It's really not as satisfying otherwise
You can argue about the best in-office episode but Dinner Party will always be #1 for the entire series. Not Stress Relief, not The Injury or any of the others. That is all thank you goodbye
Dinner Party was just a riff on Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe.
Fans love to see Jim mess with Dwight but subconsciously fans LOVE to see Jim care about Dwight even if its in the smallest of gestures
I think Jim wants to be friends with Dwight but Dwight's personality keeps Jim wanting to prank him
its so good when it happens hagahah
Like the episode when they take the bus to get Pies and Dwight is on the roof and Jim goes to talk to him. Love those moments. Same with when Dwight is nice to Pam. Gets me every time
Like when Dwight and Angela break up and she tells Andy she'll go out with him and Jim goes and talks to Dwight while he's crying on the staircase.
Who said it's subconscious?
I'm gonna have to say "Stress relief" is the funniest. You have the fire scene, dummy scene, AND the "heeded" convo. Nothing beats it for me.
Good choice. Andy singing and Kelly dancing is special in that episode. It showed it's not just Michael that's a loose cannon in that office.
It has roasts too. What a legendary episode. I believe Stress Relief is non-negotiably best episode.
And the roast Michael thing!!
Stress relief is easily the best! The heeded conversation makes me laugh every time. Other aspects that make it the best to me are - the fact that its a double episode, the cold open, the roast, the strange Jack Black and Jessica Alba guest stars, the cute moment between Jim and Pam. It has everything!
Thank you! My favorite episode for sure, and I definitely feel like the “heeded” conversation doesn’t get enough love when this episode gets discussed.
Stress relief is always gonna be my #1. It has the fire drill, the dummy, and the roasts.
That is hard to argue against
My favorite the one when they find out Oscar gay I couldn’t stop laughing
I'm one of those that likes those episodes better. "Dinner Party" is not really that funny to me. actually, it surprised me the first time I learned that was considered the best episode.
I was bouta say, stress relief part 1 is so good
Which season is that one ?
What is my perfect episode? I film it in Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the easy jokes? No, I go for the sophisticated one, it's priceless. As I'm telling the joke, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's joke. She's Mad. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Hollywood, but I go to Broadway. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the stage. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell my ex-lover to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to NBC head office. That's where I sold the episode.
amazing
This... this was great
wow what the fuck why was this so interesting
ENOUGH WITH THIS JOKE
Umm, Dwight said that in one of the interviews of an episode.
In season 7, Pam was the office administrator and she was talking to Jim about failing again.
Dwight heard their conversation and let Pam win. This moment literally brought tears to my eyes.
dwight and pams friendship is so underrated
i remember that!! my opinion on dwight skyrocketed
One of the single best moment in The Office! The staircase scene…
?
*”I wasn’t motivated by compassion”*

Stress Relief part 1, with the fire drill is the best 5min of any Tv show!
I thought that's what this video would be about lol
When Angela throws Bandit I die every time
Best 5 minutes of any tv show? As far as comedies go it surely has to be up there, David Brent’s hotel manager bit from the UK office, Mark seeing what Jeremy put in the bin in peep show, the last scene of fawlty towers and Father ted kicking bishop Brennan up the arse and the aftermath of that would be my personal favourites, the two pairs poker scene in only fools and horses is brilliant too
Yours Truly STAY ALIVE, IM GETTING HELP
Pt 1 of stress relief was one of the best for sure
"You have no idea the physical toll three vasectomies has on a person" will always be the line that made me laugh the hardest. Dinner Party is and always will be the unchallenged GOAT
Snip snap snip snap!
I heard that Steve Carrell improvised the "snip snip snip!" sound and gesture when delivering that line and the cast just DIED. I have no idea how they ever finished that episode with straight faces.
ok
Actually the best episode
“Smoking is going to save lives”
Yes! Stress relief part 1 & 2

@@lincolnarmstrong1424 BJ Novak also said its his favorite episode
The "caring for each other" moment of all time:
Kevin raising his fists when Roy freaks out at the bar to protect Pam.
kevin also keeps an eye on jim after saying that he thinks roy will try to beat him up when everyone finds out about jim’s crush on pam, i think that’s another amazing kevin caring moment
@@misstea-bl4pq and when Roy goes back there, accompanied by a cop, to get something with Angela. He comes in, talks with everyone, gets what he needs, asks Pam for a talk later, leaves, and only then Kevin rushes in screaming "Jim, watch out!"

By the way which episode was this?
@@itsakunta You also have to appreciate Oscar for stepping up when Angela hands Roy his check. The accounting department really have each other's backs even though they all have animosity with each other and I love that.
Dinner party and Scott’s tots are two of the hardest episodes to watch
I honestly can’t watch Scott’s Tots, it’s absolutely brutal. Super well done, but man it hurts my soul
people saying they can't watch scott's tots are like phyllis saying she likes to curl up with a book when it rains... without fail, every time
Those 2 are my favourites for those very reasons!!
I actually love the Scott's tots episode..
N the dinner party is awesome too
one of my personal favorites is the beach episode. it included one of my favorite lines from the office, when stanley says: “i would rather work for an upturned broom with a bucket for a head than work for somebody else in this office besides myself. game on!” and it’s a turning point in not only pam’s character development but the weird vibe in her and jim’s relationship after she does the coal walk (and i personally love that she calls everyone out for not going to her art show bc when michael showed up and praised her that was one of my favorite michael scenes from the office).
The only part I didn't like about Pam calling out everyone for not showing up at her art show is that, well, Michael and Oscar did show up. I wish she would have mentioned that. Otherwise, Beach games is one of my favorite episodes too, Casino night and the Dundees are my favorite!
That moment with Micheal at the art show always has me in tears, and I’ve seen it about 10 times now!
@@dm9489 well she called out people who didn't show up so Oscar and Michael don't count in the callout...it doesn't concern them so 🤷
I always feel like her character development is over hyped. She was just a b to Karen and it was called development
Pams Speech to everyone after she does the hot coal walk... it makes me tear up almost everytime

YES! My most favorite episode!
I don't know if it's just me but the Michael Scott Paper Company episodes are some of my favourite. It's funny from the Asian ladies hopping in the van, but it also shows emotion in Pam being regretful of following Michael, and he comforts her. It also ends good so I like those episodes.
I also love Idris Elba in those episodes. For someone who mostly does action, he kills the dry comedy.
"I am aware of the affect I have on women" 😂😂😂
I love this episodes. Tgat waa my favorite story arc in Season 5.
I love the Michael Scott Paper Company episodes!
YESSSS THAT ERA WAS SO FUN
Me too!
“Give Pam cute nicknames” I don’t think Pan was intentional lmao
Kyle jeboss I’ve seen the episode like 4-5 times I never hear “pan” I always hear “Pam”
Dwight is at her desk and goes “alright see you later Pan” and she looks at the camera and mouths “Pan?”
Kyle jeboss I mean for Dwight, it’s a cute nickname.
I wanna mention "the convict" cuz prison Mike is just too much to handle. Funniest BIT in the office is prison Mike hands down
I totally agree. “Pan” was definitely because of his concussion and not because he was trying to give her a cute nickname.
I’m a fan of Koi Pond in season 6. It is an often overlooked episode, but I think it really is one of the best.
i feel exactly the same about the episode "Initiation" in season 3, it's not the best episode, but it's one of my favorites.
Brent Sheridan I love murder from s6
i love the épisodes the surplus , the fuel and garden party
Lmao that deleted scene from the koi pond episode where there’s a full length security tape of how long it takes Michael to get out of the koi pond, it’s just a masterpiece 👌🏼
Koi pond is MY FAVORITE.
"Have ya lost your damn mind because I'll help ya find it" Stanley

Me:”Which one of all the episodes from season 2 through season 5?”
When Micheal buys Pam's art...that's the perfect episode
This is one of my favorite moments also. He didn't buy it to make Pam feel better, the way Jim might have. He genuinely liked it. He loved the idea that Pam would draw the place they all worked. I don't think Michael loves Dunder-Miflin, but he thinks of his colleagues as his family, and he wants them to love him. This scene depicts that very well.
That scene was Godlike.
exactly that episode also sums up the show's message and its transmission (heart through paper, basically)
that scene will always make me cry
Best Michael scene and that scene alone make Michael a really likeable character
I don't agree with you
"Today, smoking is going to save lives."
Thanks, literally the core of the earth.
That experience was difficult to deal with please don’t joke about it!
BRO THAT IS THE BEST EPISODE IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE SHOW HAHAHA
@@paswordwithtwoss when you're a total goofy simp like Andy yeah, its probably tough to get through anything "Knowing full well you got to be you."
when I want to sell The Office to someone I usually say:
you see stuff like Michael speaking in front of a business-school class and totally making a fool of himself by throwing candy bars into the audience
stuff like Jim pranking Dwight by making him think that he is turning into a vampire,
stuff like them all trying to catch a bat in the office and its absolutely hilarious,
and you get these redeeming, wholesome moments too for example when Pam is showing her art at a local art show and nobody likes it, Michael shows up last minute and offers to buy one of the pictures because he genuinely loves it and wants to hang it up in the office.
and all that happens in just one episode.
And they’ll also see The Nard Dog in their preforming a few tunes that you at home or however you watch my show can enjoy!
My favorite episode! So funny, and complete!

“Stress relief” it’s the best office episode to me. Written by Toby by the way.
Just because it was written by toby makes it worse
Ew.
Paul Mosquera for me I’ve always thought Andy’s play is 9ne of the most underrated episodes and the dundies
@Cale Witmer I agree! Andy’s Play and Dundees are both super enjoyable for me :)
Cale Witmer thank you for mentioning my play I like to rewatch that episode and see all my ex-co-workers care about me.
Mindy is truly a genius in all of the episodes that are widely viewed as the best she’s either playing a big role on and or off screen
She’s the best, I love her so much.
idc what you say Kelly's character is the worst and most annoying on the show
Watching the show for the first time, that is one of the things that stood out to me the most. Her name after so many great episodes. And playing such an annoying person. Just perfect. 👌🏼😄
My #1 will always be "The Coup". The entire premise is hilarious. Dwight goes behind Micheals back in order to convince Jan to make him regional manager. It has the insanely awkward scene where Micheal confronts Dwight about his trip to the dentist. Followed by Micheal playing along with Dwight being the new manager. To me that's the perfect episode
Ah Crendist, the dentist.
I feel like a really overlooked episode of the office is season 3 episode 5 "Initiation". I don't think it's the best episode, but it's one of my favorites. The chemistry between Dwight and Ryan is hilarious. Stanley's love of pretzel day is a mood. Pam having to make a list of everything Michael does in a day on a day he basically did nothing? Comedy gold. Even though Jim is at corporate the whole squeaky chair thing is amazing. And not to mention the super cute Pam and Jim phone call at the end. Overall a pretty great episode if I do say so myself.

Another episode like this is when Ed truck died
Kevin Thomas I agree, another one of my favorites. I like how Michael is so childish that he can’t explain his feelings, so they have to have a bird funeral where Pam gives a speech that explains what Michael is feeling (but also relates to the bird) and lets him grieve. It explores Michael’s character a little more and feels true to how people cope with their feelings when they can’t verbalize them.
@@myoung2328 along with this he only ever realizes that he has an opportunity for people to feel sad for him when kelly tells him that he must be feeling so sad. i think that while he was really gridding, part of it was him trying to gain sympathy out of the situation
Kevin Thomas survivor man🤣
He was decapitated, he was super wasted and went right under an 18 wheeler -Creed
His Capa was ditated
Grief Counseling is one of the best episodes too. Ed Truck’s death reveals Michael’s own insecurities about being alone and forgotten. Pam provides the best care for Michael by using the “bird funeral” to help Michael realize that is not alone.
Yes!!
This one also has the paper staircase/Michael getting coffee from the "warehouse" intro, which is low key underrated and hilarious. AND has the scene where Pam talks about her death story which is from that boxing movie and Ryan gives the camera that look, then talks about the Lion King. Another underrated scene. And Dwight/Michael talking about the robot and Jan on the phone going "what the hell are you two talking about?" after like three minutes of robot talk. Hilarious.
Also sets up a great line for Creed later on in S3 when Oscar asks where Dwight is.
Creed responds, "You didn't hear? Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird."
Sounds like a total madman, but he's like 95% right. Just has the name wrong.
And it all happens right in front of Jim who finally got back from Stanford, and is convinced its all gibberish.

I think that the whole series of episodes that Micheal starts his own paper company are perfect. They show how the office would be run with a normal boss, explore more into pams character , and show that Micheal’s in ability to adapt (in turn making it feel more important when he does)
It could’ve been the best but you can tell the writers had no direction for the storyline so they just made the characters sell out and come back to DM
It also had one of the darkest scenes.
Like when they going to steal leads from a small family company who are nothing but nice and sweet.
A season later they read in an article that this company became bankrupt.

I think a better episode to rival the dinner party one is the one where Jim throws a party and doesn't invite Michael. So much character detail and situational comedy there... plus it is extremely grounded and feels like an episode of "The Office" outside the office.

My favorite episode is "Business School." It is the one where the writers finally managed to put everything together for the puzzle that is Michael Scott.
That is one of, if not my favourite episode.
I love the moment Pam has the epiphany Dwight and her are friends. He even remembers her sweetness through her conjunction when she asks to hold her baby in Gabe’s party to recuperate her sleeping schedule. At the end of course, he acknowledges her as being his best friend in the final episode. This is the birth of the friendship, this is why this is one of my favorite episodes.
I’m not even a minute in and I already feel so validated. The Injury has always been my favorite episode of The Office. The balance of humor and emotions is perfect and relatable in so many ways. Most of us may not have burnt our foot in a Foreman grill but everyone can relate to having to take care of someone else, even if that person annoys the hell outta you.
IMO the best episode was Season 5 Episode 15 with Dwight's fire drill and the CPR scene.
A perfect episode is when Dwight screams Michael
Avery the Cuban-American “Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica”
"Oh, that's funny... MICHAEL!"
The fire drill, the meeting at corporate with Micheal, Dwight and David Wallace, the CPR training, the second meeting at corporate... In the meantime you got that ridiculous movie with Jack Black and that grandma, with Andy trying to wrap his head around the comments of Jim and Pam.
Stress relief part 1 has it all. That makes this the best episode.
Cmon, EVERYONE agrees that the best episode is when Andy returns from his boat trip in season 9
(This is a joke btw)
I'm a little late but in my opinion, the best episode is "The Search". The one where Michael goes 'missing' and Holly, Dwight, and Erin go out to find him. It's so beautiful and amazing and it has an amazing payoff. Holly and Micheal are perfect for each other and her being right about every single guess on where Micheal could be was amazing. It was such a huge payoff in the long run. Micheal finally got his true love and I love them so much. That last bit when Holly goes on the roof, and the camera circles to reveal Micheal in perfect.
I dont even think it was guessing at first.
She just thought like him lol
I don't know if there's a single best episode....but there is a single best moment.....when Michael buys Pam's painting....which proves, that, Michael Scott is indeed, the World's Best Boss !!!
My favorite line from this episode:
Jim: what are you doing?
Dwight: Vietnam sounds
But, I really like “threat level midnight” tbh.
Oooo that’s a good one too!
Ive used this episode for years as a way to introduce people to this show way more than dinner party. Its the best snapshot of literally every character dynamic and personalities on full display.
Would you think about doing an episode of this for Phineas and Ferb Its one of my favorite shows and despite every episode having nearly the same premise all of the episodes feel unique and most are very good I would love to hear you take on the show.
ı think that one episode when dwight makes a fire drill is one of the bests. that chaos was HILARIOUS
You should do a video on Scott’s tots
The most uncomfortable episode of a comedy series ever
Either you love it, or you hate it.
Chairface Chippendale agreed. I’ve watched this series from beginning to end probably 5 or 6 times. This is the only episode I skip.
@@techman5852 You are 100% right. I personally love it, I think it's wholesome and gives Erin more emotional relevance, even though it is insanely cringey
"You can't fire me I don't work in this van!" will forever be my favorite line from the show.
when you said, "what's the stupidest way they can hurt themselves" the first thing that came to mind was them getting crushed against a wall by Karen's industrial copier, also a great episode
It's weird how these video essays with really good editing comes out kinda quickly.
YES
