I've been speaking Spanish for 10 years now and I'm already fluent but I want to achieve a native level of fluency/proficiency. You inspire me to step up my game and not get too comfortable at my current level. Adelante manín
Caleb It’s not good to tell people to be ok where they’re at if they want something greater. If he has personal goals to have a native-like proficiency, then he should chase those goals. And the idea that there’s not much else for a fluent speaker to learn is just not true.

Man, I don’t know what it is that’s so addicting/ inspiring about ur vids/lessons. Not sure if it’s because you speak so fluently and aren’t from a Latin background, or that you incorporate fun, music, swag and culture into it. I can only do so many of the dry Spanish “teacher” lessons on You Tube. Thanks again for the motivation.

Man, that's why I love Mexico so much! I used to go there all the time as a teenager and early adulthood....5 bucks takes you anywhere!!! You feel like you're about to die the way they drive but you always get to your destination and only one seatbelt ever works 😜 it is usually not yours LOL

Brother, I love the fact that you learned to speak Spanish. I would love that as a rule we teach our children (Black children) to be, AT LEAST, bilingual. We should encourage Black children to learn to speak fluent Spanish and Mandarin, the two most frequently spoken languages in the world.
The more I listen to this, the more I understand. I would say a good 90ish percent... Sort of shocked myself... And the story was much better than the third time I heard it... I watched it 3 mos. Ago...☺️... Now I have to work on having more conversations in Spanish.

Wow I've been listening to spanish alot on and off over the last year and I just noticed once I relaxed and didn't try to focus too hard on what was being said that I understood parts of what was being said its trippy and that just inspired me to continue

Te felicito hombre! At age 24 I went to live in Mérida, Venezuela where I stayed a couple of months, then moved on to Colombia and rented a room en el centro de Medellin for nearly 6 months. I'm 50 now, so my level of Spanish fluidity isn't quite what it used to be. The only reason I still have the ability to converse in the language is because I actually speak it every week day, since I have been blessed with the opportunity to supervise a staff composed mainly of central and south Americans.
Confidence is a huge factor in learning a new language, especially in the early stages. As in introvert and perfectionist, it took A LOT to break out of my comfort zone, and just speak. That's why I went to Medellin, because I knew it was either "sink or swim". Anyways bro, all the best in your future endeavors. Dios te bendiga y bendiciones a tu familia.
I just watched 2 of your videos and subscribed to your channel. Your Spanish is excellent! I feel like I was at your level 10 years ago. I traveled abroad to Spain, Argentina, Uruguay and my most favorite was Mexico. Sadly when I moved to west palm beach I didn't get to practice my Spanish as much as I'd like to. I try to speak to my Guatemalan neighbors but they answer me in English 😩

Ricky is easy to understand because he still pronounces the Spanish sounds as any other native English speaker would. Try to listen to a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic, and you'll have a hard time, bruv
@@MrKarlozz I don't think so. Dominican Spanish may be "fast" but accents from central Spain would be even faster. Besides, Dominican Spanish uses less slangs than Mexican or Colombian Spanish (And Colombians use different pronouns too).
Dominican Spanish is more like Andalusian/Canarian Spanish.

I never said Dominican Spanish was the fastest variant lol. But to me it's one of the harder accents to understand due to how it's spoken.
Dominicans are hired on radios and televisions to conduct programs because we speak a more direct language, using simple direct use of words to communicate.

Puedo entender tu acento mexicano mejor que el dominicano de otros videos.
Creo puedes entender mas el acento mexicano por que va mas despacio y sus palabras son mas neutras, en cambio el dominicano va un poco mas rapido y la jerga es mas de cortar o crear palabras.

You did a great job learning Spanish , here is a little tip , you don't need to say "yo tengo " its technically redundant , tengo is all you need to say .

C Smith Mexicans living in USA most of them are low grade school ,but if you talk with a middle grader or a high level educated person, it's a very different scenario , EDUCATION MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE ACCENT IS MEXICAN OR NOT EXCUSE MY ENGLISH SPELLING,

How do I even learn to speak this fast? Like, spanish is a fast language in general. I'm finnish and I'm also fluent in english, but if someone spoke this fast in english or in finnish, I would not understand a thing.

Spanish is not faster than any other language lol. You just need to become more proficient to understand it fully. So yea, keep practicing
thinking in spanish helps and then connecting vowel sounds etc

Yea, in terms of syllables spoken per second, because their words contain more syllables on average, and therefore they have to speak at a higher syllable rate. However, the rate is 25% higher compared to English, so it really isn't a big difference. I've read the study you've posted here, and you can check it for yourself if you don't believe me. In addition, the information density is no higher than in any other language, in fact I think most English speakers convey more information per second than Spanish speakers do.
The syllable rate doesn't really matter if your ears are well trained for the phonetics. Try to watch a video where English is spoken, and set the speed at 1.25x, 1.5x or even 2x. It doesn't make a big difference how many syllables someone pronounces per second, if you're already accustomed to the language and its sounds.
If you have a hard time understanding spanish it's mostly because your in depth vocabulary understanding isn't developed enough, or because your ears aren't trained enough for the phonetics. Not because they're speaking too fast
@@MrKarlozz It was not specified which Spanish speakers are the fast ones. It's not the case that Spanish has to be spoken fast. There are countries and regions that speak rather slowly.

Agreed. Not to squat on anybody's level of second language because each person does what he or she can do but there are much better examples of Americans who speak Spanish. Gwyneth Paltrow is one in particular, nearly perfectly fluent in the language.

Bacano es una palabra que se usa en el caribe. En inglés es como "cool".

Suena más dominicano que yo… nota importante, República Dominicana aún siendo un país tan pequeño tiene 5 accentos, (área sur) donde L/R la pronuncian igual, norte donde las S al final de las palabras no son pronunciadas, (área este) donde las R son exageradas (area oeste ) del país donde suenan más como canción y el famoso (cíbao o centro )del país donde ya no se sabe porque R o’ L al medio o final de las palabras son cambiadas por una i ejemplo: Marta, maita, doctor doctoi etc etc. En el caso de el suena norte. La D al final casi nunca es pronunciada por dominicanos y aún en otras partes es pronunciada a bajó tono..
