The difference between Victoria's Secret and Fenty x Savage is that Victoria sells a fantasy to men and Fenty empowers women of every shape, form and color to feel powerful.

this is how you do "woman." it's fierce, it's strong, it's glorious, it's gorgeous, it's together, it's diverse, it's inclusive. the women aren't simply objectified, they are objectively partaking in the spectacle. they know they're the art; they know they are the movement, the action. they aren't just up there to be stared at and critiqued--they're up there to show what they can do, what they are, who they are. this is dope on so many levels and i applaud rihanna for making this happen.

k a y l e e it's yet another celebrity overpriced yet cheap made brand. Yeah it's inclusive (which could be just a marketing strategy to differentiate from its concurrent VS) but you know who else is inclusive ? Siriano who happens to be also a designer, a real artist and not an already rich person that just puts its name on brands, goes from millionaire to billionaire within few years and gets all the credit because its already a huge success. Just like Vogue sucking up to the kardashians or pretending to care about body types and colors when they always have been white size zero

Ema Oulhissane I don't know shit about the product value or quality but what I can see is this show will influence a lot of people positively and is a step towards a diverse mentality. You can pinpoint all the negatives but you can't deny the effect this will have in the cultural mentality

    • @ellax325

@@Ema-nt3gp Whataboutism isn't cute. Rihanna and Siriano exist in 2 different design spaces. Siriano consistently receives credit for his work so why are you tearing down Rihanna to give him credit? They can coexist especially because last time I checked Siriano isn't making women's lingerie. Give Rihanna credit for changing societal and industrial awareness of what it means to be a sexy woman. It isn't hard to say, "she's making a difference."

Rihanna really ATE Victoria Secret up. That was beautiful and she didn’t fall in the whole body positive movement throwing in a couple of plus size models in bad fits and call it a day. Can I just step in and disagree, politely. Cause I do think that the primary function of sexy lingerie is to appeal to your partner? I mean what, you put it on and you do what? Go to work in it and think to yourself "omg I look so hot under this suit im wearing" yea doesnt add up.
Everyone wants to be attractive in the bedroom for their partner.

    • @runway5338
      @runway5338 4 года назад +102

Dusan DuHast true, that’s what a good portion of ppl who buy and wear sexy lingerie think. However, there are women out there who wear those types of lingerie just for themselves. Why? Cause they like it. They like the thought of it. They feel comfortable in it, and it may even give them a bit of a boost. A type of physical (not necessarily sexual, tho it could be) confidence.
Or it’s just a part of their normal, everyday routine. A little something to pamper themselves-especially if it not only looks flattering but is also comfortable. Just something for them. Now, do they go around thinking the whole day about how hot they look under their clothes? Or how hot they feel wearing their lingerie? Probably not, especially if they’re used to it, unless it’s just something that weighs heavily in their mind. It’s probably just something fun to see whenever they’re changing. Just food for thought.

I never felt good about my body after watching a VS show. I’m not tall, a size 0 or with long hair. I think I only bought one set from VS and the panties that costs me $14 disintegrated at the first wash.
This Savage Fenty brand at least shows that you can be cute or sexy at any color or size, as long as you use your body, dance, jump. This is about living your live, not just being a generic thing to be adored. This show is for women by women. Love it!

I bought some great white pajamas from the VS catalog on sale 'way back when I was in college - they lasted years. Then I found a silk cami nightdress in a vintage shop that I still have from the '70s. I just never pay retail, & I'm not into their new stuff. The runway shows always seemed like a joke.

Chocolate Drop I was pissed. It was a very cute lavender set with lacy bikini bottoms. The bra did ok but the panties’ lace started unraveling and cotton part started peeling. I never bought again. I have had tjmaxx brands that lasted way more than that and I only had to pay maximum $5. I mean I still have undergarments I bought from Filene’s basement and these guys have been out of business for a while now.

Foxy Cinnamon Vintage and thrift is the way to go for quality stuff, you just know someone used it and it survived all the washes during all these years. I have a thrift store in my area that has fabulous finds for $2. I got wool suits, leather mules and purses, mom jeans and fancy cocktail dresses each for less than $2. I basically stopped shopping new. My goal is to put my shopping money in eating well, staying in shape so I don’t gain weight and need to shop for new stuff. It’s good for my pocket and the planet. Keep going woman! 😊

The fact that I was holding my breathe waiting to hear your opinion and hoping that you liked it just made me realize you’re a legit fashion critic. The power that that has.

I love how it shows you that these pieces are not just for being pretty. It’s meant to move with you and serve a purpose unlike VS where you just sit and look pretty.

Inclusive means more business. It's not that difficult to understand. The more sizes you have the more people will buy.

Hum... How many people in the world can afford Dior? Chanel? YSL? This may explains why they still use and will still use skinny models.

@@kerenokitaloshima696 A lot I think. Being overweight doesn't mean poverty. Only in America is that true.

tanya My comment wasn’t factual. I was questioning your reasoning (politely, I hope). If people think that High fashion will expend and widen their sizes just for the sake of sales, nothing will ever change. Most of the client that see Dior doesn’t buy Dior. Doesn’t sit in the front rows. The majority of people just dream of it, of being rich and elegant enough to wear these brands. Therefore, these brands won’t want to be affordable, to seem affordable. If you look at the last YSL or Dior show, there is not a single plus-size model. But they make way MORE money than Rihanna and her Fenty thing. VS wanted to be the luxury thing but they wanted to be kind of affordable at the same time (I mean it was expensive but you didn’t ruin yourself as you could with a Givenchy product). They should have chosen what they wanted to be (whether luxe or affordable) and this is why the inclusivity thing was asked. Having this kind of reasoning will help you with « small » brands like H&M, Zara, A&F, Gap, American Outfitter if they’re really nice... Nothing higher, especially not High Fashion!! Just my two cents! (I hope I didn’t seem offensive) 😊

Keren Okitaloshima But how is size inclusivity related to seeming „affordable“? I mean, it‘s not like brands like Dior don‘t produce stuff for bigger people, because they do- they just never model what that would look like on the runway. I appreciate that your being polite to the original commenter, but your line of thought makes even less sense to me.
