As someone who has watched rust unfold for a while now. I think that there is a hidden gem in combat that is almost hardly explored yet it being so new. The recent Attack Scrap Heli is something I see so few of in rust videos it’s almost disappointing. An aircraft that both has the mobility and attack ability is a whole different side of combat. I watched a “dogfight” (there’s no better name for that form of fighting) where 2 AT helis battled it out. It was new and refreshing. A side of rust I’d never seen before. There was the engagement, the chase, the crash and then the air to ground clean up. I think it would be so cool to see a video of a rust solo veteran team up with a professional pilot to dominate the server in air superiority.

No. There's a difference in dominating with a very overpowered weapon, or dominating using your skill and brains.
Attack Helis are fun, but when you can literally counter anything, and I mean, anything. It sort of sucks the fun out of it. Like, what's the point of fighting if you can just shoot them with HV rockets from the sky with barely anyone being able to shoot you down?

FYI, as someone who builds a fare amount of small solo farm bases, you can easily provide all the water you need for 8 planters with 3-4 small water catchers on the roof and gravity feed as long as the catchers are above the sprinklers. just use a valve to turn on and off and you don't even have to power it. I just run it for 10 minutes or so to get the water level in the planters to the right level and turn it on as needed. Works best with a storage tank too. Love the videos!

Stop using MP4! If you dont want your whole project corrupted, use MKV files! I also suggest changing your audio format from AAC to something else that also doesnt corrupt.
Or spend $100 on a battery apu so you can at least save your files..
Apu (ups for PC's usually?) only fixes external power loss. Later wj said it was a crash, maybe overheating. No amount of power would stop that. Where recording to a format that encodes directly means even if theres a crash you get basically everything up to the crash.

@@ntquiteramb0 a UPS is not that expensive. I spent $300 for a 1100w equivalent for my super insane work PC. But a normal PC would be fine with a 600w one for $100-$130. A UPS is also just cheap insurance. Especially for someone that relies on their PC running for their work.
I don't think 90% of the players know the capabilities of this game and everything it offers. I personally this game changed for me even after 10k hours the minute I learned to do electricity. This is a great video to show everything that so many players are missing.

Yeah, generally I’m a big enjoyer of having a car and a farm in a base. The ore and wood teas pay off all the extra stuff you need once you get 1 or 2 in. The car makes it way easier to do cross map monuments and allows you to do it safely and pvp is way more fun when you can drive by a dude a lot. People underutilize those style things all the time
They've kept me playing an additional 1000 hours by constantly adding new things, lol

Just a tip: ditch saving in MP4 as a container, try MKV that is way less prone to corruption even in a sudden power loss.
Something, something MP4 has to finish a recording to be fine while MKV just goes as long as it goes, whatever happens, it's still viewable.

Seconding the UPS, but changing containers is easier/cheaper.
True for recording, but MP4 H.264 is still the most efficient and optimum choice for a finishing codec/container.

If you got a liquid cooling setup for your computer, as it's your work, wouldn't that be a tax write off?
Also, with the fact that temperatures are only going to continue to climb, you might want to invest in a window AC unit at least for your office or wherever your gaming setup is

I’m in Kent which is only a hour train away from London and honestly, the temperature is meh. I honestly don’t know with climate change, the weather and temperature is out of control and completely unpredictable at this point. I don’t think temperatures will rise too much though. Maybe a couple fans could do, just to circulate the air around the room.

To stop the power cut invest in a large battery, plug it into a root combiner with the mains and a solar panel then connect the output of the battery to your computer station! And then to prevent overheating place a water catcher and like in the video pour it over your computer station! So easy, I’ll sell both setups for 350 scrap.

Willjum normally for the average person a U.P.S is pretty much irrelevant but for you... Yeah I highly recommend it, they are expensive when you start looking at the higher capacity ones and they won't supply power for long for continued rust play considering you probably have a beefy computer BUT, once you notice your power going out it will definitely be enough time to stop recording and make sure the footage is saved.
I'm honestly kinda surprised you don't already have one.
Guys I don't ever ask this but i feel its important enough... like my comment so Willjum might see this, and we can never miss out on Willjum "plays" ever again.
His issue was the GPU/CPU over heating, a UPS isn't going to help in that situation.

They are not expensive. Yes, if you build/buy one that will run large loads for several hours then they can get pricy. But a small unit to allow you to save video, log out, and power down PC is under $200. My UPS system will power my entire house minus the electric range for several hours. This includes all lights, 2 window AC units, pc, router, modem, TV, Hot water blower, and other small loads for several hours and it was under $3000 minus labor which I did myself and its a instant transfer unlike a generator which takes several seconds fire and get to speed before power is transferred so I barely even see a flicker in lights.
Willjum you should add CCTV's to most of your bases for now on! I feel like it'll create for some really funny and cool moments.

Yeah, double down on it, get an AC and a UPS, content losing is way expensiver than those
So just a tip for the future, if you record to FLV instead of MP4, you will be far, far more resilient to crashes/power outages and the like. Simply remux to MP4 after you are doing recording, and then you can use those for editing in Adobe.
Or MKV but I'm a boomer and am used to the old FLV method
I think Fragmented MP4 is the best, it combined good quality, good editing software compatibility, and prevents data corruption !
A UPS will also help, gives you time to save and shut down when this happens.
@@Izumaaaaa flv is still lossless and remuxing doesn't re-encode anything so no quality is lost there either. either way, recording in MP4 is a danger!

Yeah, def need an UPS. Get a good brand, like a business tier APC that's got enough battery power to run your machine, network access, and monitor for a while. It's also good for power conditioning as well so it'll be better for your computer over the long term, even if the current crashing was heat related rather than directly a power issue.

My favorite thing about willjum is he really shows the true solo experience, power goes out and he losses all that, just if he had 1 more guy he could have managed it all. Same when we kept dying trying to farm right after. Same thing happens to me with all my 8k hours. You just get back to and keep going any missed opportunity could lead to riches

In case you do anything like this in the future. You should have your computer station in a bedroom separate from the main part of your base. If you do a wide coverage of cameras around your base, you should name them with the direction they're facing NE,SE,NW,etc. And even as a solo drones can be useful to find out information about.

I would love to see you play a wipe where you visit every kind of monument, do cargo, oil rig, etc. Just to keep in theme of "exploring everything Rust has to offer". Love your videos

I just started rust recently. I had no idea that bones were not originally for making fertilizer. I just threw them in and it worked. That was cool to learn!
To prevent your loss of recordings in the future record in MKV and rumux the recording to mp4 after the file has finished so it doesn't corrupt/auto delete after a power cut or bluescreen. This has saved me countless times :)
Don't forget to clean your CPU fan and coils regularly for dust to prevent overheating. I also learned the hard way. Good content!

Even a cheap one can give you that crucial 5 minutes of extra power so you can gracefully quit and save all of your content. I know this doesn't help right now but it could save you a major headache in the future.

It's by the way easy to remember how many car parts you need: Look at the icon of the parta. If there are two, you need two, if there is one, you need one. (large engine, for the small/integrated one you only need one each) :)

You’re using the decomposer in a not efficient manner. You need to spread the things you were converting to fertilizer in all the slots except for one in the decomposer. The way it works is each slot will convert to fertilizer on a time-based rotation so when it ticks, it’ll pull from all the slots that you have stuff to convert and make fertilizer.
Great video as usual! I suggest investing in a UPS for if the power goes out so you have a chance to save everything!

Willjum, if you divide up the bone fragments in the composter, you will get fertilizers faster. You can divide it up in 7 slots to get fertilizers faster. 1 slot is for the fertilizer.

I was watching your Rust video, and I feel your pain when you lost two hours of work due to a power outage. I suggest investing in an uninterrupted power supply (UPS). That way, if the power goes out, you'll have plenty of time to shut down cleanly. Thanks for another great video!

I love your videos, actually you were the first Rust creator I started watching. Just writing my first comment as this is definitely one of my most favourite videos on the channel. Nice server with no zergs (at least in the video), the base was crazy cool, the good number of fights to keep entertaining, the nice choices on when to fight or not, surviving till the end of the wipe. The only little, tiny thing, it would be great if you did more raids, but I get it that you didn't have time to play more. And it would be nice to see you defending the base against a group of 3-5 people but that's not for you to decide ;) Nevertheless, great content man!
