I read where Billy Crystal said so many people asked him to do Fernando he stopped. So glad 🙂 we still have Fernando on tape. When he first did it back in the day a date got me high at his friends house. I laughed so hysterically I’m sure they thought I was Krazy. But now? Sober as a judge I’m laughing harder! Fernando makes tears of laughter for me. The Krazier he is? The more I love him! Thank you Billy for Fernando!

Howard made Monday Night Football watchable even when the games stunk. He was fun to listen to because he so different from anyone we ever saw

What I loved about the Hideaway is that Billy Crystal improvised in each of those segments and wasn't scripted.

It would've been a great short spin-off talk-show back then; or a short-length podcast now!

You really appreciate this skit even more when you know the kind of relationship both Billy Crystal and Howard Cosell had with The Champ, Mohammed Ali.

Looks like Billy had to improvise a lot in this sketch and was lightning fast! Howard kept going off script.
Wish Billy would host and bring back Fernando's Hideaway 😊
Update: Just watched a recent interview with Billy talking about the character.
Turns out it was always improvised.
So no Q-cards and no script!

SNL has made fun of every President since its start in 1975. Chevy Chase was doing falls as Gerald Ford back then.
