I own 3 UV-k5 radio's and have tried a few of the custom firmwares, i've got the same SWR meter like you have and get an average of 4.5W on 446mhz and 5.5W on 145mhz on Firmware IJV 3.0. I also own a UV-5R Plus wich is rated 8W but has around the same output Wattage.
Should be able to access factory Power levels in the reflash code, Mic gain settings have been found But if you turn up the UHF power dont be surprised if you blow the PA Fet

What adapter connects the HT to the meter? I have adapters but not that long thin one.
It is an original SMR adapter that came with the meter

2, 3 and 4 1/2 watts is normal for most HTs
