Food Sample Making Kit Beer

- Food sample making kit series 'Sample'n Cooking'. This time, I made beer. The main ingredients are made of gelatin. This isn't edible, fake food(can not eat). These food samples uses for menu sample by the most of restaurants in Japan. Food samples can carry more detailed information about the menu than simple text menu or photo menu. It's one of Japanese culture. I want to get and show you the techniques of making food samples. I bought it at Ganso Shokuhin Sample-ya, Tokyo Sky Tree Town and it costs about 1600 yen(13.5 USD).
The beer looks simple than other fake food kits because it uses only 2 gelatin parts. But temperature control of the beer foam is difficult. It is easy to be too hard or too soft. By the way I can't drink much;)

I think the foam started to cool down and set before you could use it. It looked too chunky for the head of a beer.

These are really neat! I wish we had some over here, I've had some disappointing experiences where the food they showed you in the pictures of the menu look nothing like what they actually served you :(

I live in the United States, but the only time I have ever been overseas was to visit Japan. During this trip I tried to grab a dessert from a buffet only to find out that it was one of the fake food samples and the real thing had to be special ordered!

Yeah. Japan actually has a neat little "culture" of sorts on fake food and stuff!
You mostly would see models of dishes they serve outside of restaurants, such as omelettes, soups, etc.
I think it's pretty neat myself!
I believe there's videos up on here that shows the process of making Japanese food models.
these are usually used in restaurants as food displays. The appearance of food matters a lot, so this attracts customers. I'm surprised not many people think about this.
+Shyanne Luna Yeah, it's great to have in your kitchen, especially if you have glass cabinets or open shelves that people can see. The best thing would be to make a HARRY POTTER BUTTER BEER with it for display! :D

I never said it was sweetie. Check the description. This was was made out of gelatine. And for the record most of them are wax based, not plastic.

I don't know why but I feel so annoyed that the person doesn't squeeze all the gel out properly. You can't get it all out by scrunching the plastic bag up like that! That's just wasteful.
