    The late years of Dale Jr and Greg Ives were pretty rough, I think June Bug finished 23rd in points in 2017, an Bowman takes over that team in ‘18 arguably the worst season in HMS history and was able too points his way into the post season even making a surprising run too the second round. Dale Jr even said himself on the download that the 88/48 team looked a lot more improved when Bowman came in as a relief driver as well as saying looking back Bowman probably should of had that ride in 2017.

    I believe Alex Bowman deserves to show what he's made of this year before we immediately call him an inconsistent driver and a nonchampionship contender. I do believe that he needs 1-2 dominating races this year just to boost his confidence as well as the 48. He doesn't need to run 1st but run top 3 and be a contender for the end. I believe Bowman is a extremely underrated and underappreciated driver. His journey has been impressive from driving for BK Racing 2014 to winning consistently with Hendrick Motorsports.

    Bowman also had some garbage luck as well as his good luck last season. Wrecked out at Daytona, gear shift went bad at Bristol dirt, got hit into the wall at Phoenix. All of those were days he looked to have a top 5 car and just got screwed.
    For reference, I think the only one of his wins that was all luck is Pocono. On every other occasion, Bowman and his crew had to actively take advantage of situations that were presented to them, and they did just that, whether it meant a fast stop, a clever strategy, or a clutch restart. He may be lucky, sure, but in order to turn good fortune into results, you have to have the wherewithal to know what to do with that fortune, and the ability to execute on it. That's what skill looks like.

    Bowman has raced 147 races for Hendrick Motorsports. It's resulted in 7 wins, 25 top-5's, 58 top 10's. He's still just 28 years old. How in the living hell could someone look at that resume, accomplished between ages 24 and 28 at the highest level of NASCAR, and call him a hack? You don't "fluke" your way to 7 damn Cup wins. He's a solid driver and young enough to potentially get even better. For example, when Martin Truex was 32 years old, he was in his 7th full time season of Cup with 1 win. Now he's a champion and a threat every year. Bowman is a solid drive, with a solid resume. Just because he's not popular doesn't mean he's not good.

    I’ve been a huge Bowman fan for the 4 seasons, it really ticks me off when drivers and fans from the NASCAR community say that he hasn’t earned any of his wins. It’s undermines him as a driver, essentially saying he hasn’t earned his ride, when his journey to the Cup Series has been more difficult than any of the other drivers at HMS and NASCAR. His win at Pocono was “lucky”, but what driver hasn’t had the “lucky win” in their careers? He needs to work on his consistency which he has said that he’s needed to do. Hamlin and Busch are salty that they’ve been beat by someone they consider to be an inferior driver, when in fact he had more wins than them last season.

    • @CXY888
      @CXY888 2 года назад

      As a fellow Bowman fan I agree, plus in each of the races he won he showed great speed and was easily a top 5 car. The Pocono win was the only real flukey one but even then he was leading that race late until Larson passed him, he was still very fast. A little bit of luck is just a part of racing, things just happen. Hamlin was mad that he got spun (it wasn't even on purpose), Busch was probably (understandably) frustrated that the Vegas win slipped away from him, but both of them went really overboard with their comments. Sure Bowman is definitely not the best at Hendrick (that's Larson for sure, then 2nd is probably Chase?), but he's proven time after time he's not a hack, and he doesn't back into every win he gets, Bowman puts himself in position with speed, and makes the most of opportunities he gets to earn wins. Kevin Harvick in the 2010's gets called "the closer" Alex bowman gets called a hack, lucky and he "backs into his wins" As far as im concerned if its not fuel mileage or rain shortened....you pretty well earned your win because you still put yourself in position to be able to have a chance at the win and ran all of the laps.

  • @marcushudson2911

    This type of discussion comes down to one or two questions. First, how did he get in to position to capitalize? Of course, most people think they can answer that question accurately, but they really can't. It is one of those things where unless Bowman is someone you are keeping up with the whole race, it looks like his pit crew just gave him position, or it was a gamble on strategy. The reality is, almost all of his wins, he was a top 2-4 car, who was there at the end because Bowman passed people on track. if he gains spots in the pits, it is one or two. it has never been him jumping 12 spots or something because only he has taken 2 tires. Furthermore, we act like getting on and off pit road, even under caution, has nothing to do with the driver. It does though. I have watched primarily the 88\48 in all his wins, including in person at Martinsville and Pocono. He outraced people all day in all of them. it is not like a 15th place team won these races. At vegas, Truex was fighting the 18 when the caution came out. But behind them, the 48 was about to deal with the 1. He was coming too. wasn't gonna catch the front two. But there was a time when the 48 was the fastest on track. if it stayed green, no one was stopping him either. just because someone benefits from the late caution doesn't make them a hack. What about the people that benefit from earlier cautions. bottom line... since the start of 2021, only the 5 has more wins, and in 3 of Bowman's 7 career wins, he has had to go through Larson, two of those being head to head straight up. And the 2019 first win against Larson was when Hendrick hadn't even completely turned the corner as far as being dominant again. Let's not act like they were fielding "Jimmie Johnson dominant" type cars. At that time the 88 and the 24 were on a good streak of top 5's and runner ups, but far from dominant. My point is, Bowman out drove Larson in equal equipment at the time for his first win. That really should end all the fluke driver nonsense. He's a solid driver who will get better in to his thirties and win more than a few races as long as he is given great equipment. will probably race another 10 years and at minimum give you 1 win for each. at minimum. might end his career with more wins than respected drivers like B. Labonte and Jeff Burton.

    We are witnessing another changing of the guard. The feuds are happening because some of the older drivers are not aging as gracefully as others. This is why we see the older drivers having issues with younger drivers like - Hamlin/KyBusch/Bowman, Harvick/Elliot, and even Seig/Gibbs to a degree. Many of the older drivers are getting upset that younger drivers are performing so well, add some normal bumps and slips, and finally the car changes - it's magnifying everything. I think only KuBusch and Truex are doing well attitude wise regarding the younger drivers. Bowman is far from a hack and every win he's had were similar to many of the wins across the older drivers.
