A lot of "If that was Dale Sr. everyone would have cheered" comments. I'll remind you that Earnhardt was often booed, notably at Bristol in the 90s. Many fans did not care for his tactics back in the day.
The main difference between then and now is that then if a guy wrecked you, he expected it back. A week or two after he spun Terry Labonte for a win, he got it back. He didn't like it (Dale Jr interviewed Terry a few years ago and they were laughing because they were good friends and Dale Sr. cancelled a hunting trip with Terry after that), but he expected it was coming and knew that he really couldn't say anything about it.
Dale Earnhart is considered one of nascars most favorite driver but he wrecked more people to win races than anybody. Hypocrisy runs rampant in nascar.
what upsets me is Logano did it with 2 to go. In this “winning at all costs” mindset in NASCAR, a last lap move after you tried to pass cleanly should be the “right” way to do it.
He did the same sh!t to Matt Kenseth at Kansas in 2015 and that was with 5 to go Not to mention he hospitalized Denny Hamlin after the Auto Club race 2 years prior
@@NASCARFAN93100 I don't think you can blame him for hospitalizing a guy, I remember watching that race and they both leaned on each other at the end. Look, in the end the way the points are setup, it's really only wins that matter, which personally I'm not a fan of. But Joey races the way he races because it's the best way within the rules to win races and championships. Why did he move truex in Martinsville in 2018? So he could go to the final 4. If the points weren't setup that way, or if there's a penalty system like F1, then no he probably wouldn't do it. But he'll do whatever it takes within the rules to win the race or championship. Tbh I think Eric is right, I don't like that this is the way races are won now. It seems like everyones mindset is checkers or wreckers every week and everyone is just extremely desperate. Idk maybe it's time to adopt some kind of sportsmanship rules, make wrecking a guy have consequences. In 2015 this might have worked (Kenneth). But there's no way Byron does anything.
Passing someone for the win without wrecking them is much more exciting then dumping them. The aggressive driving is getting out of control and at the rate it’s accelerating NASCAR is going to have a hard time reigning it back in.
Dale did shit like this all the time, Rusty did it too, first televised 500 that made nascar an ounce of popularity had an aggressive last lap wreck. It’s always been this way.
I’m confused on what people want. Making F1 and NASCAR the same sport is stupid. If you like one style watch one, if you like another style watch the other. If you like all styles watch both. If you don’t want aggressive driving then NASCAR isn’t the sport for you. F1 is.
I do believe Byron "pinched" him into the wall (rubbing in racing). But Logano didn't suffer any damage. He was still in second, with a 100% completely drivable car (that's what rubbing does- it gives you a position without destroying your opponents car). What Logano did was a "punt". Bill Elliott said it best, "That wasn't a bump and run", that was a crash and run. Not only did he take the position, he distroyed Byrons car and relegated him to 13th. Logano is just EVIL. How anyone can cheer for themselves and not think bad about that move is beyond me. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night
Eric, I was at the track all weekend working and on Saturday night I was in the hotel room picking thru RUclips winding down and happened to see your video on the paint schemes. I was blown away with your video. You made my weekend! Knowing the back story with the schemes added so much more my experience! Then watching this video, you are spot on with you “whole event” opinion. We were driving Bach home we were saying to exact same thing. I’ve been to several Throw Back weekends and they felt very different. Camping area was slim, stands had many open seats. We had a great time. It just felt different. The big mistake I made is that I walked right by you, and said to myself “is that the guy from the paint scheme video, but wasn’t sure. Then when I got home this video was on my suggestions and I said “that’s him”! I wish I would have stoped you, just to say thanks and what a great job you do. Please keep up the great work.
Idk bud the saying is rubbing is racing not bumping/dumping is racing. I think it was just hard racing when Logano got the wall on that restart and used it as an excuse to retaliate.
I can't agree with that. It'd be one thing if he was tapping his fender, hell, even if he was bonking his door, but he sent it right behind Byron and didn't slow down. That was on purpose and he's done that crap before, he didn't even try to race him side by side.
That wasn’t bumping!! He never even tried to pass him cleanly he pounded him in the rear and kept pounding Byron he didn’t bump him and literally pounded him and did it to drive him into the wall! Never even tried to pass him cleanly!
There has been so much aggresive driving this year, that it's stopped being exciting. It's becoming a madhouse and eventually gonna be everyone hating each other.
My first question is always "What would Earnhardt have done?" and the answer is going to be "The same" but backed up with "that's just Dale". NASCAR has always had a double standard.
This exactly. I mentioned this today when I was talking about 'personality' with someone. Everyone complains about a lack of personality, but as soon as someone shows some personality a negative label is almost immediately attached to them. Can't have it both ways.
Watching it on TV, maybe it was just me but I just couldn't help but get the feeling that Richard petty couldn't wait to get out of that booth with Bowyer. 😅
Dirty and unjustified. I said this for Chastain, I said it for Briscoe, and it holds true here. NASCAR has lost any sportsmanship it had left. You'd never see a finish like the 2005 Coke 600 today because the drivers would wreck each other before being a real competitor and racing cleanly. Such a shame, and equally as much of a shame that people will still defend it because "Rubbin' is racin'!". Earnhardt did it too, his whole career was built on it, and that's why I hate him. He got booed for it at Bristol in '95, it should be equally detestable today.
its funny you say this today because really logano and keselowski were the first of the new era. before them alot of the bad drivers were called out by vets and sat down. but that is no more. and as drivers get younger and younger and vets leave the sport i fear its only gonna get worse. its always happened but not now it just seems commonplace
@@happyjohn8256 Maybe not completely clean, but that was a racing incident. Logano pinched Byron down, Byron moved up to sidedraft, they both washed up and Logano was the meat in the sandwich. Obviously unintentional, even Logano said so in his interview. Logano had plenty of chance to move past that and pass Byron cleanly, but he didn't even try to pass before he junked Byron. Byron wasn't perfect, but pretending what the two did are "equal" is absurd. One of them won the race, the other didn't even get a top 10. Doesn't seem even to me.
@@PotPynamite yet again this is Logano we talking about and he isn’t exactly a clean driver if we going by his track record most famous for taking out Matt Kenseth and ending his championship hopes after doing nothing wrong and then Matt Kenseth ended Logano championship hopes at Martinsville now that payback was honestly justified on that day I can say the same here
Had Logano and Byron been coming off turn 4 on the last lap and drag racing to the finish beating & banging I wouldn't have had a problem with Byron getting dumped. With 2 laps to go and Logano just intentionally running over Byron that crossed the line of rubbing is racing. Remember Joey karma can be a bitch.
He could have at least tried to pass him clean.. you just going to knock the hell out of him.. you going to get Matt Kensethed again... And with him is always someone else's fault.. they should have took the victory away from him..
The difference here is that Byron won’t retaliate and Logano knows it. Plus, if people hated dirty racing so much why didn’t they flame Byron for dooring Logano?
I think it was a dirty move from Logano and I think you can argue that it can be justified, but I don’t think rough racing at the start of a restart equals to ruining a man’s whole race when you could’ve passed him cleanly.
Logan was so much faster than Byron at the end, he could have gotten past him cleanly. Or get inside him and rub his rear fender to move him up a lane. But Joey The Twerp decided to drive right through him. NASCAR should have immediately thrown the black flag on Logano and penalized him a lap. Logan doesn't have an argument by saying Byron squeezed him into the wall on the restart. Byron still left him room to run and didn't disable his car. Eric is right to say that punting someone into the wall takes no skill, and Logano has skill. He just needs an attitude adjustment.
Still early in season. Gonna be hard to maintain that level of performance for 20+ more races. I'd love to see it cuz I'm rooting for the 1 team but it's gonna be hard.
Logano can't make a clean pass inside 10 or 15 laps to go. He used to in the Xfinity series but now that he can't completely outclass the other drivers he drives straight through them.
@@josephwootenVGK kinda tired of seeing comments like this. He’s only called out for what he does because he’s Kyle Busch. Do I agree with everything he does? No I don’t. But his on track performance is how he gets sponsors. What he did yesterday wasn’t near as bad as some of his other incidents. Sponsors don’t typically care about on track antics when they look to sponsor someone. And it’s not like Kyle Busch is the only driver that does stuff like this.
I think that although this makes nascar more interesting to watch for new/younger viewers, Joey Logano clearly had better tires at the end making him faster than Byron. He could have at least tried to race him clean at the end. Winning like that with a dirty move is more of a headache and a tarnish on your career than trying to race cleanly and getting second place. I understand this is “how things are now” but in the end it’s not a good look for nascar in the long run. Even the commentators didn’t speak up and say much about how bad that move was. It goes to show you that even though nascar has improved their image getting more people to watch, they are allowing this type of racing to happen to improve the bottom line. Corporate America at it’s finest.
Well said. The gist of it is that Logano screwed the fans out of a fun, close, last two laps finish which he would have very likely won. Instead, he soured fans and made an enemy of Byron. On the plus side, this is the "more personality" that fans have been begging to see from Byron.
I loved the race I hated the ending to it. Wish logano raced Byron clean tho. Also I’m glad I got to meet you today Eric You made my day when I met you.
A sport and fanbase that holds up Dale Earnhardt as one of its greatest drivers ever should never have a problem with "dirty" driving. That's what I always say after things like this.

When was nascar a gentleman's sport. The best of all time liked to rattle their cage... It was a throw back weekend and a throw back finish. Best race of the year.
If it was a standard bump and run I don’t think anyone would be saying it was unjustified, but logano drove it in 20mph faster into the turn and slammed byron made sure he didn’t have a chance to save it, Its not a justifiable move
I can understand a last lap move coming to the checkered, if they door bang each other coming to the line and only hit each other in turn 4 or the front stretch then it’s ok. But a blatant move like that with 2 to go? That’s just dirty and uncalled for. Byron never even got a chance to fight back because he was already wrecked. It’s sad and disappointing to see, there needs to be more respect in the sport.
I agree there needs to be more respect don’t run people into the wall and think you’re going to just get away with it. It’s called racing bud you get what you give. And you don’t think 24 would put the bumper to 22 for the win? Cry more
I was there and you had a decent line at the Ruxor tent. I hung out for awhile and a lot of young kids walking by saw you and said "that's my guy, I know him". You have a great following and some of those kids seemed as excited as seeing a driver.
Let’s be real here there’s nothing to fear from nascar new wave of drivers and 5-10 years ago Joey would be looking over his shoulders when he got out of the car . The older drivers kno this and will continue to step on these younger guys.
Yea I’m not trying pick on William but I mean you just get moved for the win and you call Joey a moron like wow you really got Joey worried now. Yikes!
Well that was a little more than bump and run but Joey will change his tune when he gets stuffed into the fence for a bunch of races in a row and Penske will get involved and tell him to stop it
Eric I enjoyed meeting you here at darlington, thanks for the T-shirt, I wore it for the race today. Next time you come here you need to come see us in turn three in the infield, tallest rack around! Love the show and was so awesome meeting you!
I think Logano’s move was like giving somebody the death penalty for a parking violation. The retaliation was way too severe for a side-by-side rub on a restart at a tight, difficult racetrack. I think Byron owes Logano a DNF somewhere down the road.
Watching the finish live, as much Logano sent it, I felt like Byron checked up pretty hard. And Logano even said that in a post race interview that Byron checked up pretty hard so

I like how they call it dirty when a chevy gets rough up. But when a chevy does it to a Ford or Toyota it's good racing. The young chevy drivers are entitled and don't realize their actions have consequences. You can see how byron looked shocked that he got raced like that and he didn't think there was consequences for running someone into the wall. They are talking about sportsmanship, but when young drivers don't give respect why would there be good sportsmanship. All year young chevy drivers had have put bumpers to people and fans and commentators cheered, but when the tables turn they boo and say it was dirty.
Hot damn I couldn't have said it better. every Nascar broadcast is like a promotion for HMS. it's so tiring that's all they talk about . and if another manufacturer is really looking into joining the sport I'd pass right now.
The near-unanimous love for Dale is a creation of the past twenty years -- namely because of his horrific, untimely death at the biggest race of the year and because of the love for Dale Jr and all he's done for the sport. But during Dale's actual career before his death, he had plenty of haters and plenty of boo's from the crowd.
A squeeze like Byron did to Logano off of turn 2 was worthy of a bump or at most a little bumper wiggle up the track, not a full on ram out of the way type deal.
@@goneracin9 His rear started falling off, that didn't constitute logano hitting his bumper though. He could have very easily passed by or slowed down then passed, he just chose not to because he's a Connecticunt.
Enjoyed getting to meet you today! Sorry our SC weather decided it wanted to be February 🤣 (I was the Gordon fan with the Earnhardt fan at the end of your meet and greet) I give it a 70%. While Harvick & Elliott could get from the back to the front, I felt passing late in a run was difficult. And Logano is now above KFB in my most hated driver (barely). The mic was good for the video.
Overall, this throwback has been pretty great so far this year even though there's a little bit of less throwback schemes compared to last year for all 3 series. I do agree with what you said about the theming for this race with the broadcasters dressed up with old firesuits and NASCAR clothing back in the old years along with bringing along some ionic NASCAR legends to the FOX Booth. As for the final lap finish, that move on Logano was pretty uncalled for and Byron had every right to be pissed at him for that incident. Interested to see the radioactive once it comes out. So yeah, great race Can't wait for Kansas next Sunday!
Byron got what he asked for because of the restart putting Joey into the wall. I knew if Joey caught him Byron would get a big Bump out of the groove. Joey caught Byron pretty quickly and would've got by and won the race.
The Logano/Byron controversy is overshadowing the fact that this was a spectacular race. Other than the short tracks, Next Gen just keeps delivering bangers
yeah, that's fine when it's actually a bump, move your competitor one groove up the track and drive by. When you plow into them 15 mph faster and junk them into the wall, that's a flat out dump and a chickenshit move. PERIOD.
Think about what you said. How can Joey get 15 mph faster out of nowhere? If he enters the coner too late he'll end up in the wall. Byron went low and slow to turn himself into a road block. Joey drove through him and I'm fine with it.
@@ProdigyIPC he went low and slow because his tires were shot. He had no grip and his corner entry speed was lower. He was using more brake and had to slow up just to make the corner clean. Joey could've just gone right around the outside, instead he junked Byron because he's an a$$hole.
Straight punting like that should be frowned upon by anyone that wants the best driver to win! This cheap-shot crap is getting old. Basically no one who has gotten the lead by grit and determination wins the race if they're leading in the final several laps. Someone just boots them out of the way.
We’ll come say hi at the Texas play off race. Wish we could be at the All Star Race, but it’s a school night and our kindergartener needs to go to bed early. He’s always loves watching your stop motion videos. I miss the clean racing of the past. Wish so many weren’t dumping for the win like so often happens lately. Like you said he still had 3 laps to try to pass him cleanly.
So when Briscoe did it, failed, and wrecked Reddick it was just good ole fashion racing and we had to applaud him for trying but when Logano does it successfully and cleaner it's dirty?
Larson was fast that whole race. Led a bunch, spins battling for the lead, then drives from the end up to 10th and blows the engine. Bummed as a Larson fan. I was at the track and could see slight smoke from the car several laps before blowing up. Doubt the broadcast saw it early on. The best cars seemed to be the 1,5, and 22. The 22 definitely benefited from the pits and controlling restarts. The Toyotas were all very fast and 18,11, 19 all had a shot... until they didn't. Lol. Willy B is impressive from the fact that he is so smooth and clean. He just puts himself in good positions for finishes/wins. He never looked like he had the fastest car but was just slowly gaining spots the whole race. The race was entertaining. Not the best Darlington race but a good one.
Wish Byron was able to hit the 22 back spinning him out. Watching the replay it look Byron tried and honesty Reddick winning the race would’ve been a much better ending
I’m not a big Logano fan but I didn’t really have a problem with the move was it dirty Probably was it fair game debatable but at the end of the day it’s just what happens in racing sometimes
Byron CLEARLY FENCED Logano on that restart, there's an onboard video on RUclips that shows that. The race was about to end, whoever, Logano or Byron gets clean air had a great chance to win the race, both ran top 5 all race long, and Logano definitely did not liked getting fenced and because of that he let off the throttle and Byron passed him. Fox did not showed that replay, shame on them.
@@ShinyShinyBlack but remember, there were few laps to go, and as you saw the leader with clean air has a greater chance of winning the race. That's why both Logano and Byron knew that whoever gets in front on that restart probably was going to win the race. Byron drove to deep into the corner and sent Logano into the wall, forcing Logano had to lift and Byron takes the lead. Logano didn't like that move and went after him, and the rest is history.
The more interesting comparison is F1 vs Nascar since it was on at the same time. F1 zero commercials with safety cars in there. Nascar went 10 laps after a commercial and had another. Fox broadcast was trash compared to F1 again. Nascar needs to get better on the broadcast side of things.
@@WastdTrashPanda verstapen won but was being chased within a second for the closing laps. The announcers are more interesting and the drivers aren’t out there riding around for 2 of 3 stages because the races are a much shorter amount of time. It’ll be interesting to see the 18-49 demographic comparison this weekend.
As disappointed as I am that Byron didn't win in the classic Jeff Gordon scheme seeing Kyle Busch and Hamlin have a bad race always warms my cold heart at the same time.
Umm, whether you agree with me or not, I was a hardened Jeff Gordon fan of old and like seeing the Hendricks cars win.....BUT, nothing against Eric, but umm, I have been a Nascar fan long before he was born.....and, I have seen a lot of moves for a win over the years. This is stock car racing.....and, I am tired of hearing people complaining about the move Lagano made....period! The move was a last lap legal move for the win......nothing that the *legendary Intimidator* Dale Earnhardt Sr would not have hesitated to do on a last lap for the win! That's the key here.....last lap! Joey in truth was faster.....and Byron very abruptly checked up......Joey bumped him out of the way and did not wreck him.....this was a legal stock car racing move! If my driver Jeff Gordon would have made the move, or Dale Sr, or Dale Jr, or Tony Stewart, or frankly anybody else.....people would not blink an eye! This was a little more aggressive bump and run all because Byron checked up so abruptly. Joey was on the pole and raced his heart out till the end.....there was nothing illegal about the move in Nascar! It was Joey's race to win....or lose! People need to decide whether they are true fans of the sport as a whole, or just fair weather fans of their own single drivers! After all these years, I like to think I am a true fan of the sport.....not just of the one driver I may want to win all the time no matter what! Maybe more should be said about bad attitude and very poor sport Kyle Busch! He reminds me of a spoiled child.....that, if he doesn't get his way just stomps off in a fit! He is setting a really bad example of sportsmanship for a gentleman's sport! I do not blame longtime sponsor M&Mrs for dropping his sorry butt! This is my two cents, and I stand by it! My congrats to Joey for the win.....regardless of what anyone says, I say he earned it fair and square!!! 😀
Annoyed Truex got wrecked again and then the move by Logano. Nothing but cheap and dirty, plain and simple, I agree Eric. The 22 never even tried to pass the 24 at all, had no brakes, and just put Byron in the fence. Not a bump and run in the slightest. He proves once again why I have always greatly disliked him.
Jeff Gordon did the same bump on Rusty Wallace to win a race. Didn't try to pass, just punted him out of the way going into a corner with a few laps left in the race. Wasn't Jeff driving the 24 then? What would Dale Earnhardt have done?
That was a great race, great move. I loved seeing Logano win. It was cool meeting you today. Joey didn't have time to pass clean. Plus it was hard to pass. There where boos. But I was cheering my ass off. Let's go.
@@chaddepew5831 maybe so, but, recently, fans praised chastain for his move at COTA, were fine with Bowman spinning Hamlin out at Martinsville last year, and were fine with Briscoe taking Reddick out at Bristol Dirt. Whether or not a move is dirty is dependent on the person making the move according to the fans
He really had no choice there. He committed low to pass him and Byron went low. He either could've went lower and wrecked both of them or sit back and let Byron win. He's not in the right nor wrong.
He still could have slowed down a tried to back up the corner to get a run down the front stretch, then try to pass him into turn one on the bottom or something.
I watch races from driver's view. It is astonishing to me just how much blocking goes on. I watched another driver pull down in front of my ride-along, multiple times, just to block. Clearly, my guy was faster. So Byron pulling down in front of Logano is no surprise. So Byron got punted when he did. BFD.
The throwback race last year was its own thing. The southern 500 was its own thing with it being the playoff opener. Both were two separate events just like what will happen this year. Just wanted to correct you on that.
I just don't understand why they moved the throwback weekend from the Labor Day race like it was perfect at that race late in the summer hot and far enough into the season where the change in Pace so to speak was very welcome, it's just happening too early in the season now
23XI in shambles lol Kurt Busch literally had to overcome to pit crew mistakes. Both cars were fast and would've been top 10 if that wreck doesn't happen. They're both like 60 points out. Gonna have to run top 10 from here on out if either of them want to have a chance
I honestly believe in the human soul spring is a time of hope and anticipation and fall is a time for gratitude and reflection. I wish NASCAR would have stuck to the original formula because I much preferred when NASCAR held the throwback weekend on Labor Day. The anticipation of the start of the playoffs, the historicity of the name “Southern 500” and the addition of honoring NASCAR’s past with the throwback schemes just brought the excitement in NASCAR’s product to a fever pitch! However, if we’ve learned one thing about NASCAR, if there’s an extra dime to be made, they’ll always make a change. Such is life I suppose.
I don’t have a problem with what Joey did. Looks like he had a good run off the corner and had more speed than the other car. So no I don’t feel that Joey did anything wrong.
Hamlin's "long pit" was because of pit gun issues on RF tire, heard on his radio...as for Ky. Busch, he was unable to turn sharp enough to make a 90 degree turn, per FOX, and yea the reason for his penalty last year was plowing cones and putting crew at risk. We were there both races. Seats were full in the center stand, but that's because the Tyler Terrace is newer than the turn 1/4 stands, theyre at a steeper angle and can see the whole track from the top. Halfway through, people were leaving cause their driver wrecked...
Lots of drivers have said they would wreck their own mom to win a race, but I think Logano is one of the few that would actually do it. He's always done whatever he had to do to win. Love him or hate him, he has at least been consistent
I agree with you, but when his car was easily better than Byron’s there you try to pass with 2 laps to go. He never attempted to pass. Just went for the throat. I forgot who said it but I remember someone famous saying it a couple years ago. That for some reason a lot of ford drivers don’t bump in run you anymore they bump and crash you. The old nascar the famous “bump and run” would spin the guy maybe get him a little bit into the wall but not much. This newer era 2002-present they don’t. The example were Logano, HARVICK, keselowski, Stewart mainly. Even though Kyle Busch has a “bad boy” representation he doesn’t bump and wreck people, he bumps in run when he means to. Yes Kyle has wrecked people but that’s also when he’s mad and admits to it. Not saying that “oh well it’s just hard racing buddy” lol. Logano has always just wrecked people. This instance it wasn’t the last lap and he didn’t even try to pass first Just sent it into the corner way to fast.
Tell the folks at the Bristol race where he dumped Terry Labonte that everyone loved him for it. You know, the ones that booed him mercilessly for it. People loved Dale because he could dump someone for the win on the final lap or final turn, but he could also win clean with the best of them. Case in point, he didn’t have to wreck anyone to go from 18th to 1st in the final 4 laps of his final victory (Talladega 2000). No way Logano could’ve done that.
Look in this year that bump is considered “clean”. Remember Chastain basically wiped out AJ and Bowman which AJ didn’t even finish, same thing with Briscoe and Reddick. It’s all about who the drivers are and how the fans react to it. I hate this new style but that’s what it’s coming down to this year and I hate to say it but Logano did what he had to do to win fair and square. Not a fan of it but you can’t hate it if you liked Chastain or Briscoes incidents…
What a finish! Reminiscent of the finish between Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch, o wait, it shoulve been but we got demolition cars rather than racing, thanks Logano
A lot of "If that was Dale Sr. everyone would have cheered" comments.
I'll remind you that Earnhardt was often booed, notably at Bristol in the 90s. Many fans did not care for his tactics back in the day.
But recently, Chastain was cheered at COTA and Bowman at Martinsville. Dirty moves are only ‘dirty’ if performed by a ‘dirty’ driver
The difference is also the respect other drivers had for Earnhardt. Logano will never have that
@@mclovin2155 it’s because Earnhardt didn’t whine when it happened to him

what upsets me is Logano did it with 2 to go. In this “winning at all costs” mindset in NASCAR, a last lap move after you tried to pass cleanly should be the “right” way to do it.
He did the same sh!t to Matt Kenseth at Kansas in 2015 and that was with 5 to go
Not to mention he hospitalized Denny Hamlin after the Auto Club race 2 years prior
Agree, I don't mind bump and run, but he made no effort to make a straight pass prior, just straight up plowed into the back of Byron.
Haha he’s a champ !!! Cry baby go 22!!
@@darrinlambert88 may be a champ but he’ll never get the respect other champs have gotten 🤣
The aggressive driving is getting out of control and at the rate it’s accelerating NASCAR is going to have a hard time reigning it back in.
especially how they've presented it as a "self policing sport"
Dale did shit like this all the time, Rusty did it too, first televised 500 that made nascar an ounce of popularity had an aggressive last lap wreck. It’s always been this way.
Tell that to Steve Phelps and his cronies at headquarters. The way they set up championships pretty much requires it.
I’m confused on what people want. Making F1 and NASCAR the same sport is stupid. If you like one style watch one, if you like another style watch the other. If you like all styles watch both. If you don’t want aggressive driving then NASCAR isn’t the sport for you. F1 is.

*…until Willy B starting talking to HOFer Matt Kenseth.*
Yoooo! This comment is goated
Byron needs to put Logano’s car so far in the wall that they’re gonna need 3 tow trucks to pull him out.
Joey will get his comeuppance, and he'll cry about it when it happens.
@@DouglasMastersF16 you mean like Byron crying after the race?
@@Molina88142 No. Like Logano was after Kenseth gave to him exactly what he had coming.
I can see it now, if these meet ups continue to take off, Eric and the crew with their own prerace show at the track. How cool would that be!
I liked the race. The race had good battles and a memorable finish.
Erik jones went from +11 in standings on the last restart to wrecked out...
Also never seen byron mad so this should be interesting.
As a Hendrick Motorsports fan, bumping is racing. I would’ve loved to see that Jeff Gordon throwback in victory lane, but fate said otherwise
Idk bud the saying is rubbing is racing not bumping/dumping is racing. I think it was just hard racing when Logano got the wall on that restart and used it as an excuse to retaliate.
@@Dicktrickle710 fair
I can't agree with that. It'd be one thing if he was tapping his fender, hell, even if he was bonking his door, but he sent it right behind Byron and didn't slow down. That was on purpose and he's done that crap before, he didn't even try to race him side by side.
pit menuvers are racing? that's pretty much what Joey did, it was a intentional wreck which is not racing

NASCAR is full of way over payed spoiled brat crybabies for drivers.
My first question is always "What would Earnhardt have done?" and the answer is going to be "The same" but backed up with "that's just Dale". NASCAR has always had a double standard.
Well said.
Yeah but he wouldn't be a baby face and get angry when he got raced the same way
This exactly. I mentioned this today when I was talking about 'personality' with someone. Everyone complains about a lack of personality, but as soon as someone shows some personality a negative label is almost immediately attached to them. Can't have it both ways.
What's the double standard exactly?
That's exactly what I've been saying. I guess the snowflake democrats have invaded nascar
Watching it on TV, maybe it was just me but I just couldn't help but get the feeling that Richard petty couldn't wait to get out of that booth with Bowyer. 😅
i really wish jones coulda grabbed a win or top five. but damn he did well after that spin bringing it close to top ten.
You can’t argue it. Joey literally admitted that Byron putting him in the wall was unintentional.
Watch the final restart, he didn't even wall him
@@usmcculp Yes he did what are you watching
It was unintentional but he still did it
Dirty and unjustified.
Cry about it
It comes from the win and in playoff system. Points do not matter so why worry about wrecking or being wrecked in the future.
its funny you say this today because really logano and keselowski were the first of the new era. before them alot of the bad drivers were called out by vets and sat down. but that is no more. and as drivers get younger and younger and vets leave the sport i fear its only gonna get worse. its always happened but not now it just seems commonplace
He definitely needs a refresher course on what the lesson by Kenseth should have taught him.
But it’s NEVER his fault. Just ask him, he’ll tell you!!! 🤣🤣🤣
It is never his fault someone elas caused it.
Funny because Kenseth fenced Joey as well, drive other guys with respect and you’ll get respect.
I think it was a dirty move from Logano and I think you can argue that it can be justified, but I don’t think rough racing at the start of a restart equals to ruining a man’s whole race when you could’ve passed him cleanly.
It was a perfect move to win the race. The best car won anyway.
Chastain proving once again he has speed on every type of track. Final 4 bound
Still early in season. Gonna be hard to maintain that level of performance for 20+ more races. I'd love to see it cuz I'm rooting for the 1 team but it's gonna be hard.

But during Dale's actual career before his death, he had plenty of haters and plenty of boo's from the crowd.
A squeeze like Byron did to Logano off of turn 2 was worthy of a bump or at most a little bumper wiggle up the track, not a full on ram out of the way type deal.

It was fun to meet you again this weekend and talk some racing!!!
The Logano/Byron controversy is overshadowing the fact that this was a spectacular race. Other than the short tracks, Next Gen just keeps delivering bangers

Bump and run is a typical move. I think it just depends on who does it when it comes to fan reaction
yeah, that's fine when it's actually a bump, move your competitor one groove up the track and drive by. When you plow into them 15 mph faster and junk them into the wall, that's a flat out dump and a chickenshit move. PERIOD.
That was not a bump and run. That was a dump and dash. He could have easily passed by him and he chose not to.
I remember a black car with the number 3 on it that would bump the car in front of him many times, fans didn’t seem to mind then.
Straight punting like that should be frowned upon by anyone that wants the best driver to win! This cheap-shot crap is getting old. Basically no one who has gotten the lead by grit and determination wins the race if they're leading in the final several laps. Someone just boots them out of the way.

Lol.

even though I'm not a fan of HMS I agree with your post 💯. 👍🏾
Annoyed Truex got wrecked again and then the move by Logano. Nothing but cheap and dirty, plain and simple, I agree Eric. The 22 never even tried to pass the 24 at all, had no brakes, and just put Byron in the fence. Not a bump and run in the slightest. He proves once again why I have always greatly disliked him.
go watch the joey cam he was def on the brakes bryon checked up like 50 feet to early
Jeff Gordon did the same bump on Rusty Wallace to win a race. Didn't try to pass, just punted him out of the way going into a corner with a few laps left in the race. Wasn't Jeff driving the 24 then? What would Dale Earnhardt have done?
Karmas gonna eat Logano up like 2015
Glad Harvick went from 35TH to 4th 😍😍😍😍 (edit: I thought I put 4 but I put 34 😭)
We could have seen a 2003 type finish but this new generation's etiquette gave us another wreck-em-to-win finish. I'm getting really tired of this.
Yep, same thing at plate races, they all end under caution.
Would you rather have a line of cars going in circles or car’s racing that’s what nascar was built on
That was a great race, great move. I loved seeing Logano win. It was cool meeting you today. Joey didn't have time to pass clean. Plus it was hard to pass. There where boos. But I was cheering my ass off. Let's go.
@Garrett Bailey Joey had two laps, but all it took for Byron was one corner and he put him in the wall. Seems fair enough to me
@@jamarcusrussell366 He squeezed Logano, Logano dumped Byron
Cool that you had a good turn out at your "meet up"....happy for ya!
Fans: Dale Earnhardt was such an icon using the bump and run!
Also fans: Joey Logano made a chicken 💩move!
I'm convinced a lot more people hated Dale we just didn't have Twitter to vent on
@@chaddepew5831 maybe so, but, recently, fans praised chastain for his move at COTA, were fine with Bowman spinning Hamlin out at Martinsville last year, and were fine with Briscoe taking Reddick out at Bristol Dirt. Whether or not a move is dirty is dependent on the person making the move according to the fans
Dale had the charisma to back it up. Joey has the charisma of a kid going through puberty. That's the real difference
Glad to be there and meet you there.
I just don't understand why they moved the throwback weekend from the Labor Day race like it was perfect at that race late in the summer hot and far enough into the season where the change in Pace so to speak was very welcome, it's just happening too early in the season now
Harvick, Top Five!
Ty gibbs: "hey joey thanks for taking the heat off me, for a second"
in before William Byron seeks revenge during the playoffs when Joey Logano is in the midst of a title fight… 🍿👀
I guess Logano didn't learn his lesson back in 2015 after Kenseth torpedoed him at Martinsville.
when’s martinsville lol
23XI in shambles lol Kurt Busch literally had to overcome to pit crew mistakes. Both cars were fast and would've been top 10 if that wreck doesn't happen. They're both like 60 points out. Gonna have to run top 10 from here on out if either of them want to have a chance
I think Logano should have raced with Byron not put him in the wall
Either all of its okay, or none of its okay.
Well said Mr. Zombie!
Dale would do the same thing and Everyone loved him for it after watching that I’m a lagano fan
Who's AJ? Al Jolson.
I've never been a Joey fan. But... After Ross wrecked, I'm so glad he beat Byron.
Why does Byron get so much hate?
I don’t think he’s getting hate. He’s just a bland personality.
Mess with the bull, you get the horns.
What a finish! Reminiscent of the finish between Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch, o wait, it shoulve been but we got demolition cars rather than racing, thanks Logano
