Tyler only hates Yu-Gi-Oh because his best friend stole his ace card when they both lived at the slums and then he abandoned Tyler to become rich as a pro duelist-on-wheels.
I think it's very brave of them all to keep doing these Yu-Gi-Oh quizes after they all lost to the same fat kid with a stained shirt at tournaments and it made them course change into haters for the rest of their lives.
It's our way of getting back at him. Just wait till you hear Nico's tragic backstory.

That dude on Success Probability 0% is actually one of the most busted cards ever made, Magical Scientist. This card art is explicitly about him trying to get off the ban list, which, uh, never happening.
Yes, he somehow knows about real world bans. How? I dunno, he just does. Maybe he's Monika's dad.
That kind of cognition is what got him banned in the first place, he can never be set free

I've never interpreted the card that way, but that's really funny if true. Also other cards like Extra Net, Summon Gate, and the Sangan storyline imply that the forbidden/limited list is a real place cards go when they're banned, so that's how he'd know about it.

18:00 Okay, it's time for some unwarranted Yu-Gi-Oh lore: the man in the card Success Probability 0% is another monster in the game, Magical Scientist (a card currently banned in the game), and the man in the photo on his desk is also another card, Kozaky, his scientist colleague. These two are responsible for creating/rediscovering a series of monsters called the Koa'ki Meiru.
Also Scientist invented Fellow Banned Fucked Up Monster Cyber-Stein
Creating, along with a third partner. The name of them is supposed to be Core Chimail, as in chimera + mail (like armour), so implies artificial.
I love how Kyle unintentionally hit on a dark cat with a white tail showing up in the quiz.
Tyler constantly insisting he wasn't destroyed and dismayed by his first attempt at Yu-Gi-Oh brings to mind Shakespeare. "The lady doeth protest too much, methinks."
Here I thought Mitch was going to drop the backstory/lore of the Live/Evil Twins archetypes. A way to have a hard mode version of this quiz is for the choices in each round all be from the same archetype.

Adding to my comment, I have explanations for the rabbit round. Dark Rabbit isn’t a Toon Monster, but Pegasus did use it, and it is based on an in-universe Bugs Bunny parody. A “rabbit punch” is a blow to the back of the head, fitting with the Battlin’ Boxer motif. And “love it” and “rabbit” are pronounced similarly in Japanese, if not identically. If I’ve learned anything from anime and tokusatsu, Japan loves its wordplay.

I'm gonna try and use the phrase "Crack the Earth, Thunder King" whenever I can in my life now.
Man, I can't believe Tyler, as a former 4-year old Yu-Gi-Oh! prodigy that made it all the way to the World Championship with his iconic Drillago beatdown deck but lost due to disqualification as his opponent, Weasel Morningwood, sneaked a fourth copy of his go to Spell card (Jam Breeding Machine) into his deck resulting in him being banned from entering any Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament for his next 3 consecutive lives, acts like he hates this game.
Tyler was a fresh-faced young lad. He always watched every new episode of Yu-Gi-Oh (His favorite show) and would always beg his mom to buy him new cards whenever they went out shopping. Tyler believed in the Heart of the Cards just like Yugi and kept pulling cards that were currently meta, even though Tyler believed that every card was equally valuable in it's own way. Tyler took his deck to locals and had an undefeated streak, although Tyler never cared about winning, he just wanted to have fun and make friends while playing his favorite game ever. Tyler decided to take his deck to regionals.
Thanks to Tyler's belief in the Heart of the Cards and the respect and trust he put into all of his monsters, he made it to the finals. He just needed to defeat one more person...Tazuki Takahashi. Tyler was, of course, star-struck. He never dreamed that he would be dueling his idol in the finals. Whether he won or lost, he is just happy to face his role model and play an honorable game of Yu-Gi-Oh. Tyler extended his hand to Takahashi-sama only for Takahashi-sama to sneer at him in disgust. Tyler was confused. Was he supposed to bow instead? The duel began.
It was an action-packed duel but it seemed like Tyler was about to win. But then Takahashi-sama gave him a wicked smirk. He proceeded to remove his pants and reveal his 'dark hole' and let out the nastiest fart Tyler had ever smelt. This distraction allowed Takahashi-sama to capitalize and change the tide of the duel. Despite Tyler being star-struck from dueling his all-time hero, he knew that this was against the rules and that Takahashi-sama was blatantly cheating. Tyler called for the judge to disqualify Takahashi but no one came...Takahashi-sama finished off the last of Tyler's life points and won the game and the 10 billion dollar grand prize. Tyler had only one question for Takahashi-sama...."Why". Takahashi smirked and round-housed kicked the poor 10-year-old's face, giving him a permanent soft spot on his forehead. From that day on, Tyler abandoned his faith in the Heart of the Cards and threw out all of his Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Tyler swore to forever slander his former favorite card game.
By the way, this is all real. I was there.

For tyler, nico, and kyle: the Live Twins Li La and Kisi Kil are vtubers by day, demonic jewel thieves by night. With the "Live Twin" versions being the vtuber avatars, and the "Evil Twin" versions being their demon thief versions.
Turn 1: opponent set "Gozen Match" and a facedown card
Turn 2: Tyler summons "Dark Gray" and sets "RGB Rainbowlution"
Turn 3: opponent summons "7 Colored Fish" but doesn't attack in fear of "Mirror Force"
Turn 4: Tyler summons "Pain Painter" intending to synchro summon "Shiranui Swordsaga" but his opponent activates his facedown "Gozen match" Tyler flips "RGB Rainbowlution" hoping it will protect "Dark Gray" but it forces him to send it to the gy
Turn 5: opponent summons "Dark Rabbit" attacks "Pain Painter" and then attacks with "7 colored fish" (Tyler lp 8000 --> 5300)
Turn 6:Tyler sets "Mecha Bunny" thinking it will protect him and sets "Success Probability 0%"
Turn 7: Tyler activate "Success Probability 0%" but his opponents extra deck only contains "Dark Infant @Ignister" so it does nothing then the opponent summons "Battlin' Boxer Rabbit Puncher" which can prevent "Mecha Bunny"'s effect from resolving then opponent sets 1 card (Tyler's lp 5300 --> 2700)
Turn 8: Tyler draws "Dark Hole" and hopes to turn the game around but his opponent chains his facedown "White Hole" Tyler then sets "Dark cat with white Tail" and "Trap Hole"
Turn 9: his opponent summons "Goblin Pothole Squad" which is immune to" Trap Hole" but his opponent switches most of his monsters to defense to prevent "Mirror Force" and only attacks with "Battlin' Boxer Rabbit Puncher" and "Goblin pothole squad" (Tyler lp 2300 --> 800)
Turn 10: Tyler sets "Dark Artist" but knows the game is already over
Turn 11: His opponent activates "Graceful Charity" drawing "Live☆Twin Channel", "Shield and Sword, and "High Tide on Fire Island" discarding the latter two then summons "Spirit Sculptor" and attacks for game
Tyler would sadly never play YU-Gi-Oh again because of this tragic loss
The only way you could know that match so intimately was if you were the kid with the stained shirt...

Suggestion for next YGO quiz: Show a card with either its direct translated OCG name or TCG localized name, and they have to guess what the other name is. The inspiration for this idea is Beaver Warrior. Those who know, know.

The problem is that there are often multiple direct translations. For example the name in Japanese for “Ghost ogre and snow rabbit” can be translated as either “ghost ogre” or “snow rabbit” hence why it’s English name is so dumb

I think the reason mechs rabbit has "love it" might be because in Japan rabbits and the moon have a connections (like wolves and the moon). one of the words for love and moon are the same.

I actually went to my local yu gi oh tournament for the first time recently and although I lost all the matches miserably (it was me not my deck I play fire kings) I still had a great time and made new friends so I really enjoy watching your content.

The joke here is that while the fake card name is entirely in-line with the actual naming conventions of Yu-Gi-Oh, AND the lore of the character, the actual monster name is just Kozaky.

Pegasus did in fact use Dark Rabbit, but it's not a toon card.
It was a toon monster in the anime. Just never got a toon version in the TCG, for whatever reason.

A lot of things would have changed for Tyler if he knew how to play Yu-Gi-Oh. His grandfather and mother might have survived the terrible accident caused by his inability to know when to use power Bond. It cost him his duel and his family.
Unfortunate as it was, he was stuck here. Trapped in a useless body possessed by his own stupidity.
Tyler got FTK'd twice in a round one feature match as a child, and now hates Yu-Gi-Oh.

The name comes from a hunting technique, where a strike to the back of the neck was considered a humane way of killing injured or trapped rabbits without damaging the fur. It's banned in most fighting sports since it can easily cause lasting or permanent damage.

fun fact: dark rabbit, although not qualified in the card game as a toon monster, was considered one in the anime and was used by pegasus. this characteristic was also shared by the cards toon alligator, and bikuribox; the later of which was, in the card game, actually a fusion monster that used crass clown and dream clown as its 2 material monsters. there may be others that share this characteristic but at the moment, those are the only 3 i can remember off the top of my head

For Mecha Rabbit's "Love It" sticker, it's because the word "Rabbit" can be mispronounced as "Love it" in Japanese!
Hearing about how they talk about how 'fun' Dark Hole must've been to play around is so funny as a current Lorcana player, because the most oppressive card in that game right now is literally the exact same thing, and it really makes you appreciate how Yugioh has negation, and things that float, and significant interaction with the graveyard, and monsters that're immune to destruction, even during the earlier days when dark hole was an issue, because lemme tell ya, Lorcana having NONE of that makes a REALLY 'fun' card to play around. Just thought it was super funny how they brought that up at a time when it's surprisingly super relevant.

I think the best by far were "Holesome Reunion" which sounds like an anti-Trap Hole card in the vein of White Hole that could read "When a 2nd monster is removed from the field by a "Trap Hole" card, Special Summon those monsters, ignoring their summoning conditions. Your monsters are unaffected by the effects of Trap cards for the rest of the turn.
"Crack the Earth, Thunder King!" Which I can 1m% see being a counter-Trap that negates a monster Special Summon with Thunder King Rai Oh on its art.
And "Hare Trigger, Gunner Fur Hire", which I would only change to GunSLINGER so that there could be art of a grizzled bunny leaning up against a Saloon counter holding a shot glass of whiskey half-way up to his face, using his peripheral vision to look at the viewer, and other hand on his hip right next to a revolver, with fingertips touching the handle ready to draw and shoot at a moments notice, all while a portly pig bartender sweats nervously in the background.
So for a bit of an explanation about the dude on Success Probability 0%, that is Magical Scientist. He was a small tine monster card, that ended up being so broken, he is still banned, to this day. As for the picture in the corner, that is a completely different monster, known as, and forgive me if I ended up mispelling it, Kozaky (Konzaky?). He is another scientist monster card, who once teamed up with Magical Scientist, and a third monster, and they worked on some cybernetic projects with each other.
I saw tyler at a yugioh tournament and asked him why he was there. He spit in my face and beat me up.

So about Mecha Bunny having "Love it" on its head: It's a pun. With the way Japanese people tend to say English words, "Love it" and "Rabbit" sound very similar. This obviously doesn't translate to English even a little bit.
Success probability 0% depicts a monster named "magical scientist" working at his computer desk. The photo is of a completely separate mad scientist monster named "Kozaky" who is often considered to be a demonic counterpart of the magical scientist.

I think I got most of these right. One tell is localization; Yugioh's original language is Japanese, so stuff that'd translate to things like "Holesome Reunion" or using English style emojis didn't make sense to be real.

So...Battlin' Boxer Rabbit Puncher has nothing to do with rabbits in terms of the animal. A rabbit punch is a boxing term for a blow to the back of the head, specifically where the skull and spine connect.

Fur Hire is a real deck, they just don't have a card called Hare Trigger. They have their own stupid effect phrasing where all their effects refer to 'monsters "Fur Hire"' instead of '"Fur Hire" monsters'
