When I was a kid my ole man use to put concrete rings around all the pecan trees..
8" deep, and 12"wide, and used 3/4" plywood for forms, with 3/8" rebar tied to cross sections every 12" apart 11" wide then turned down 6" off each end of them to hold up the rebar all the way around inside X's 16.
I forget how big the diameter was on them dam things seems 10', but that was over 50 years ago.
We had 20" wide sidewalk around the outside of the flower beds, and thankfully it wasn't but 3 5/8" but you know rebar was there, and he used tar board for expansion joints.
Driveway by the garage was widen 12', and ran beside the house from 40' out the full width until he passed the back enclosed patio we added on to the house.
That's just part of it, there was concrete enclosed garden flower beds around the house and the whole premiter fence, and the chain link fence had concrete base 8" wide, 8" tall around the whole thing.
Let's put it this way from the time I was 11 years old until I was 14, every summer I was either digging, setting forms tying rebar, unloading pickup loads of pea gravel, washed sand, sacks of concrete mix, moving dirt I dug up in a wheel barrow, shoveling pea gravel and sand into electric concrete mixer, busting bags of concrete, wheel barreling it to wherever he was working the forms at busting forms, and yeah I even learned how to mix brick mortar stack bricks with a brick carrier in each hand.
Dam I use to think I hated that ole man, but I figured out pretty quickly when I was working full time that he done me a favor, because there weren't many that could keep up with me throughout the day, and come to find out I was as big a perfectionist as he was before I was 25.
Never did anymore concrete are any mason work after that, but I can probably tell you the mix ratio for electric mixer though if I thought about for a minute.
Miss that ole man, he's been gone 26 years now, and probably not a day goes by that I don't think about him and everything we did together all those years until he up and died on me in 1998.

My uncle did this but used 12 40 ft rail tracks. 6 in each bay of his shop due to having 4 D10 dozers, 6 D8 dozers & lots of other equipment in his construction company. His floor was heated. It was great because he never worried about chewing up his concrete floor. We lived up in Northern Alberta. Gets real cold in the winter.

Clinton, I think you missed a golden opportunity to teach the boy to tailgate spread that gravel for you rather than just dump it in piles. Even if it wasn’t done very well you were going to grade it with the dozer anyway. Great video. Slabs that I’ve seen for dozer traffic around here is usually done with railroad iron, but they were done decades ago.

Very forward thinking in the shop and extended apron Clint. The steel beams provide the sliding surface without tearing up the concrete and the fiber mesh gives the strength and density to handle the heavy iron you move around.
Not many shops use the slide rails, but they sure make a difference.
I helped install triple railroad track in a shop floor back in the 80s, those rails are still there today.👌🤙
