Heck yeah! The Korg Kross 2 is a great budget synth or Roland JUNO DS is also cool. Both have excellent sounds and affordable.

Eric Junge Music reaper has a built in synth, I just need a keyboard midi controller 😁

True, the Reaper synth is very limited though. If you want to go the controller/DAW route, I recommend installing soft-synth plugins through Reaper or your preferred DAW. There are a lot of free ones out there that sound excellent.
