Some will split or quarter an animal amongst two to several families so initial outlay is much less. The cost savings are huge! If you are a rancher/farmer you buy a walk-in freezer, have the meat butchered to order, and direct market your beef yourself at farmers markets, newspaper, mail direct, etc. Or form co-ops where you regain some market comtrol that way.
To make matters worse the deforestation of the Amazon in Brazil is a huge envirnomeltsl issue due to the farm land development. This is a universal issue on all levels.
This sounds like an isolated incident, and also consider home much it costs to raise cattle. At least these farmers have pasture raised cows you should see what the large production companies do to the animals.
Why arent all ranchers seting up direct to consumers straight from the farm to my plate a wouldnt use the big 4 a would setup and online site and have a coue drivers do deliveries etc
it is entirely possible i'm wrong, but that may be illegal theres a long a long line of certifications and inspections when it comes to food i watch a youtuber explain how he wants to get into beef jerky making, hes got nearly everything set up, but he can't find a building with that special seal of approval slapped on it by the FDA, state standards for health are the same as federal, but because the federal clipboard didn't approve it, he can't sell across state lines. He went on to explain alot of weird and arbitrary rules of what he can and can't do with his mean, which makes little sense

Start buying from ranchers always
I was at the cattle auction yesterday and witnessed 6 weight calves sell for over one thousand dollars. What’s The problem?
