    I need to tell anyone interested that I bought Stephans books and tuition records in the seventies and I persevered because I was determined and started to get an ear for how it worked.....got my first gig with a band because I could play this way and not many were doing it...ended up playing round the world and made a living....Stephans teaching is wonderful and if your determined buy his material it was.a brilliant stepping stone to a life as a working musician.....thank you mr grossman you changed my life....

    I THINK the guitar he is playing is a “furch” which is a European brand but Stephan being an American industrial primordial player would say it is an American brand ?

    Stefan then ripped this off, then messed around with it and gave it a different title and put it on "Yazoo Basin Boogie" and claimed he'd written it...

    Yep! Stefan's one of the best teachers around for this style. I've learned so much from him over the years.
    If you're new and thinking about taking up this type of guitar playing, order some of his beginner lessons and get started. You won't regret it and you'll pick it up fast.
    Can't say enough good about Mr. Grossman.

    Stefan - there was a David Bowie exhibit in Chicago a few years ago and they had an old handbill of a concert where you were playing on stage with Bowie - sometime back in the '60's, maybe in New York. I was proud to tell everyone what a great blues musician you are.

    What's so amazing to me is that Stephan has a string attack so much like the original man, which for me almost counts for more than the notes.

      Roman Alvarado 😯
      Roman, with all due respect, learn the "song" but take the different segments and create your own stuff. Add a Robert Johnson key of A turn around and noodle around for other notes invent something using this "Willie Mae" as a "building block" soon you'll get your own style, listen to others, as Pablo Picasso said, "good artists borrow, great artists steal" You can find lesson on R. Johnson turn arounds on utube😯

    A really good player and teacher--listen to what he has to say here and elsewhere! I say that based on some experience, since I've been learning from him off and on since 1969 (Elektra's How to Play Blues Guitar, the Oak books on country blues ..). A generous man, a class act.

    Perhaps you should all listen to the Great Man himself as I did though stefen has the knowlege, get the real feel of the tune if you can from Big Bill What a Great man!!!!

  • @quarter_moon_and_a_guitar
    @quarter_moon_and_a_guitar 13 лет назад

    @cheechwizrd actually he says in the video it's not that hard--and it's not. If you know a couple positions of the pentatonic scale can get your thumb to thump the bass when you tap your foot, you can get the song down decently in a couple months. Practice!

    Stefan lived with and learned from the likes of Gary Davis. MJH and Son House. He took the trouble to learn exactly how they played in order to keep the blues alive. Thanks Stefan for all that.

    He uses the bass in a different way when he first plays the song and when he shows it in the split screen - it alternates them in the former and keeps a steadier one in the latter. Also it is amazing what he does when he plays the A after the E, that quick ring finger movement is crazy. This guy is an A class player

    All the way during the beginning of the video, I keep telling myself: "wow that's eerily similar to Monday Morning blues by MJH". Goes to the alternating bass, gives the MJH reference, mind blown. I think I prefer MJH's Monday Morning blues, but great performance still.
