I own two of the makita vacuums for many years with no issues. I have the optional cyclone attachment which traps most of what the vacuum picks up leaving the filter really clean for a long time and makes for one step emptying.
I also own this with the cyclone attachment and very pleased. Not expecting much but purchased already using the 18v platform. It gets a lot of use and never fails.
I’ve owned the 20V black and decker and absolutely love it. It makes quick work of everyday messes. Whilst being powerful, it covers large areas fast. It’s got its own battery. And it looks more elegant (e.g. it doesn’t feel out of place in a kitchen). Glad it performed well in the lineup!
I bought the very first Dust Buster for my mom when I was 9yo in the 80's. I picked up empty bottles to save money all summer to pay for it. It was such a futuristic gadget!
Newer Black&Deckers don't have the easy charging cradle like the older ones. I don't like the newer ones. I like my Ryobi Evercharge: Quick on, Quick off just like the old B&D.
I have the Bissel. It works wonders on pet hair which is what it was designed for. It gets all the stuff I need to clean taken care of and has for the last few years I've had it.
Very accurate. I have the Bissell too, and the motorized brush attachment is amazing. If you look at how well the Bissell did in the tests and then consider the attachment is almost like a turbo charger... It definitely wins the test among the units with built-in batteries. And it's easily worth the cost.
@@jrburkh No Bissell will ever be worth it again after their piss poor handling of steam cleaner recalls. They've lost me as a customer forever. Took them 3 times as long as they said to even look at my submission, it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for my check. What a terrible company with terrible customer service.
Outstanding, up to the point where you were testing the vac's ability to pick up the various sizes of nuts! It's at that point where my bride walked in and the look on her face was priceless. She shook her head and stated that "men are, are, not going to say it! Vacuuming nuts, what's next?". Great comparison. Thank you.
I have a 22 year old USA made Dirt Devil that still works perfectly. It’s not cordless, but that’s ok. Too much made today is just junk. Thanks PF. Great job as always. 👍
Holy crap, I ordered the dewalt a few days ago and it’s arriving today! I admittedly had a heart attack entering your video, but I’m glad I made the right choice. What are the odds? Man, your channel is awesome.
Do yourself a favor and also use the OEM DeWalt 6Ah batteries (or 5Ah power stack). Noticably stronger sounding motor, and longer run time. I use earplugs also.
The Only Bummer is... After 1 Year of Use Which vacuums will still Work ? I Wish thier was a Way of testing that. 🤔 No use buying something if it only works for a Few uses. i Guess that's where Reviews are important. after 3 months, 6 months & at date of failure. Good video.
"Nut test" "...is also a really good nut buster..." Project Farm is going to great lengths to bring on subtle commentary and I'm not gonna sit idly by without saying that was hilarious! Thank you for the laugh!
Another home run with some new and thoughtful tests! I love the “nut test” and the crevice test. Because so many struggled with the large diameter of the heaviest nut, perhaps fishing weights would be better. That would allow for a smaller size, but higher weight.
That's a good idea. I did think the nut test provided a good sense of scale to compare the openings to eachother visually and get a sense of how big of items each can suck up, but yeah it ultimately prevented a few from picking up a nut or two that they clearly could have by weight if it were physically smaller.
Thanks for including Ridgid. Your videos are great. I hope you will always include Ridgid brand on your comparisons as many people have those tools and batteries. Easy to buy at Home Depot and a large audience with these tools.
I didn’t even want a vacuum and after watching this, I am ready to go run out and grab that knock off Milwaukee! I love the thoroughness of the tests. You gave me some ideas on stuff I can use the vacuum for. Love your channel!!!
OK. I bought the knockoff Milwaukee. Weird thing happening with the batteries I use. It is like they go from full to empty in about 7-8 minutes with no in between lights. Understandable if that is true but as soon as I put them back on the charger they show full in a couple of minutes. These are M18 High Output 6 amp batteries. Does anyone else have this issue?
since I have Rigid tools already, I got the vacuum and coincidentally just used it yesterday in the car and truck....worked great....so I am glad on my choice and glad to see it did pretty well in your review......thank you
I have an older Ridgid vacuum. It is bigger and better than the one in this video. I do remodeling for work. I use mine all the time. I have about 10 attachments and a hose for it. Still going strong. Got it in 2018. Love it.
He's saving most of us money by showing us the best values BEFORE we buy and are disappointed. And he shows us how good or bad the more expensive tools are so we don't have to =really= waste money on name brands for hobby use.
There are two types of people in this world: 1- the people who like this channel 2- the people who don't know they like this channel. This channel makes me want to shop.
Thank you for the fantastic reviews! I've actually been looking for a handheld vacuum and bought the knockoff Milwaukee after watching this, since I already have M18 tools. You did not steer me astray! It works great! On hard floors, like my kitchen, it works about as well as my full-size vacuum. I also didn't realize that it came with so many accessories: crevice tool/brush, corner brush, two extension tubes, floor attachment, and upholstery attachment. It even came with an extra washable filter. What a value! I ran it using my 3.0 Amp M18 battery and after about 10 minutes of use I still had two dots on the power indicator. I did have to empty several times, but that's just because it was picking up so much.
@a27rocks thanks for sharing- I was looking at the Milwaukee and glad project farm has our back- I think I will be buying the knockoff as well and didn't realize it had so many attachments!
I have the Dewalt using the lowest power old and crappy Dewalt battery and it is nothing short of incredible, best handheld vacuum by a mile. I love it.
@@TheW83That would be cool. My battery is so crap it doesn’t show how much power it has and has no power level on it and it still cranks. I’ve never felt the need to throw a newer and more powerful battery on it. lol
Thanks again! I look forward to many more. I would love to see you do these types of comparisons on items related to the tile industry. Like shower waterproofing systems, different types of thinset, grout, what wet saw blades work the best, etc. Thanks!
I was just thinking that - as in what does he do with all the stuff after it's done? FREAKINREVIEWS has what he calls his bone yard where he pretty much keeps the stuff he doesn't use after he reviews them. I'd not want to think of the PF's bone yard considering the items he tests.
I've been using the knock off milwaukee at work for 3-4 months now and LOVE it. The exhaust vents are kinda small compared to the cutout, so one of these days I plan on taking it apart and enlarging those and seeing if it performs even better.
My wife really loves vacuuming for some reason. Based off one of your previous videos I got her a Dyson V15 Detect and an extra battery for her birthday. It's a beast and she loves it. It works better than any corded vacuum she has had. I would argue that is handheld as well. It is around 5 times more expensive than than anything here.
I could have authored your entire post, it is exactly my same situation - except I didn't buy an extra battery. The amazing thing is vacuuming in the dark. The darker the room, the better. The green light on that thing is magic!
Whenever I'm considering buying something I check project Farm first to see if he has a review. I started watching this channel back in the days of the lawn mower experiments. I found this channel when researching alternative fuels and the such
I already have quite a few Milwaukee tools so when my wife asked about getting a cordless handheld vac I told her to order a Milwaukee. She ordered the knock-off milwaukee from Amazon thinking it was "milwaukee". When I saw it I told her it was not a Milwaukee. Oh well. Opened and used several time. Just totally awesome. Then...the switch broke and you had to hold the button for it to run.. Replaced free via Amazon. It's a crazy good vac if you have Milwaukee batteries already you are set. Hope this one holds up but reading the reviews other people have had the same switch failure. Fingers crossed this one is good. Love it!
I appreciate that the less expensive Ryobi did very well. I have two of the REALLY old 'blue' shop vacs. They're obviously not as strong as this version, but I haven't killed them yet after 18 years or so, even with them being used almost exclusively for cleaning up drywall leftovers.
I have that knock off Milwaukee, It will over heat as the filter gets dirty and I mean it will get very HOT fast!!! I took mine apart and modified it for it had better airflow across the control board and drilled more holes in the casing for air flow better
Going into it with a DeWalt 20v cordless tool and battery system already, I spent some time to research to find out which hand-held vacuum would be best for us around the house, and I came to the same conclusion with the exact presented DeWalt shown here, comparing other small canister DeWalt and other plug in type cheaper hand-held vacuums. This is a great unit and exactly what I needed. 2 years later, couldn't be happier and I agree with the points made here. The double bonus not mentioned is the vacuum comes with a full hose and attachment kit, the hose meaning you don't have to position the units weight uncomfortably to pick up waste ... the hose is easy to maneuver while you hold the unit comfortably. Not only would I recommend this vacuum, I would also suggest it be part of the deciding factor towards finally deciding on a higher volt, quality cordless tool and battery system, if a reader is researching that decision right now ... as obviously a single battery system for all tools makes sense. It can be a daunting decision, as once you buy in, your stuck there in that ecosystem. My vote is for this DeWalt 20v system. I now have a lot of pieces, and they have never let me down regarding design like this vacuum, power, torque and battery capacity and longevity. None of the pieces, nor has any part of the system let me down. I just wish it wasn't yellow ... not a fan of that. Its just ugly (opinion), but at the end of the day, the decision between this system and the Milwaukee M18 (much bigger tool selection) and Makita (lighter weight but more $) is partly personal and depends on trades or diy use case. For me, the DeWalt checked a couple more boxes, and this vacuum played a small role in that. Just writing this out to help a person in this decision, and maybe thats a video series (cause its more stuff to deal with than a single video) for Project Farm ... which is the best entire ecosystem between top brands, positives and negatives for each?
It's yellow for a reason, it's the first colour humans can identify in their peripheral vision. I know, we did it in science class. So I guess dewalt are just easier to find. 😊
I too have this unit, and I love it. I’m glad you mentioned the hose. It comes with a series of attachments, plus a belt or rafter hook. lol. The hook is handy when using the hose and floor tool.
I have the Milwaukee one and it’s biggest perk is you can turn it on like a shop vac and use the hose without holding the button. It’s currently my favorite vacuum for the shop.
Perfectly timed and great review. I previously bought and instantly regretted getting the dustbuster, and now it looks like I’ll be getting the knockoff milwaukee!
We had a Shark for about 10 years until the battery died. Since it wasn't replaceable, we bought the 16V Black & Decker Vacuum. The charging stand keeps the battery at full power. The Black & Decker is so noisy, it could raise the dead. 😂
I had a Shark pet hair vacuum where the batteries died and it was replaced with the Dustbuster, but now that one only gives a minute or two on a charge. After this I'm liking the DeWalt knockoff because I've got the batteries and don't need tons of power.
I've replaced the batteries in both my Dustbusters (there is a video on RUclips showing how) and they run like new. I like their large capacity and ease of emptying and cleaning.
Thanks a bunch!!! Been needing one and was wondering which was the best bang for the buck. You answered that question for me. 👍 Liked the, as usual, methodical and thorough approach yo took for the testing. Love your channel.
Yeah, if I had any Milwaukee tools I would get the knockoff but bang for the buck my Ryobi is hard to beat. Love my full size vac! Easiest cleaning beater bar EVER! Snaps out and in in seconds.😮
Great vid! I’ve been thinking about hand helds since my arthritis is making pushing a regular vacuum every week a little more difficult. In ‘91 I bought my first car and my BF gave me a Black and Decker Car Vac. 33 years and 6 cars later that thing still works.
Get the optional cyclone attachment if you use it as a stick vacuum. It traps almost all of what the vacuum picks up leaving the filter clean for months.
@@woldemunster9244 My Makita has the bag version also. I use the vacuum bags in my Ridgid shop vac also. Vacuum bags have made keeping the vacuums and clean up much better.

i have this Ryobi. It's so loud I almost don't want to turn it on and its suction power isn't great given the amount of noise it generates. I'm tempted to get the knock-off milwaukee but i don't need yet another battery brand in my garage.
I've really come to rely on your channel for doing the type of testing I wish I could do myself. Thank you for your efforts and wide variety of reviews. Truly fantastic.
As someone who has received a few Ryobi 18V tool packs as gifts over the years, I have a healthy handful of their batteries in various capacities. Glad to see it performed so well considering it's price. I think I may have to pick one up! This channel is true gold!! On a side note: Seeing that this channel has been online for so many years now. It honestly makes me wonder if any products on the market today were designed by the manufacturers with this in mind. I'd like to think so
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
@robotbro7187 sure if you have Milwaukee batteries already. But if you already have dewalt batteries it's a great option and can be had on deals for quite a bit under MSRP.
Can you test the “MX-237 master penetrating and lubricating oil”, to see if it is the top penetrating oil and if you can use it in engines. You are amazing and I watch your channel to see if you reviewed it prior to purchase anything.
I bought the dewalt vacuum earlier this year, and holy crap its awesome. Already having 5 and 6ah batteries around makes it a powerhouse (or at least relatively speaking), and the part project farm didn't touch on too much was the attachments. Came with a nice mesh bag for all of it, and has a floor attachment that regularly causes me to grab the portable over a standard vacuum because its just so much more convenient for a small spot. Happy to see i wasnt leaving a bunch of performance on the table, as the dewalt seemed to do quite well on all tests
Thank you so much for this review. I purchased and received the Milwaukee knockoff and it's amazing! Using it for a garage vac and it comes with an attachment that makes it like a regular stick vac so you can easily do floors. Works like a champ!
I have the ryobi one, it seemed really impressive at first but the filter gets plugged up sooooo fast! Works awesome for bigger / coarse stuff but the moment you get into anything fine you have 30 seconds before your pulling that filter out and giving it some good taps
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
That Knock-Off Milwaukee is impressive for sure. Airgunning has become a hobby for many people. Did you ever consider doing a review on different brands of pellets? A lot of times they don't fly true. Many times the skirts are deformed etc.
I just watched your power bank video from 7 month's ago and it gave me a video idea. Testing the best usb-c cable i would only test the 140w and 240w cables to keep it simple. Durability and actual wattage throughput. And testing to make sure the PD 3.1 standard is being meet and that all required voltages are available to meet the 140w and 240w pd3.1 requirements.
I use the Milwaukee as the main household vacuum cleaner, couldn't be happier. Even with the rod attachement, it leaves a clean house, and picks up the larger stuff with ease. Great little machine for the price, I got it with a free battery sale as well.
You Sir are an absolute legend! I've recently been on the market for a cheap car vacuum and came to your channel straight away as you're the only reviewer i trust with comparison testing. Thanks for the upload 👌👌
Great testing as always. This could be expensive, but your consistent and in-depth testing of ROBOT VACUUMS would be very helpful. Brands like Roborock, Dreame, iRobot, and Eufy are the most popular from my research.
@@ProjectFarm I also watched a couple of your other videos and left some suggestions there. You can check notifications on your videos via RUclips studio or the bell notification icon on the upper right youtube display.
Thank you for putting in the effort so I don’t have to. I need a small VAC and have been holding off purchasing one. Thanks for providing the information required to make an informed purchase. I really enjoy your tests. They are well thought out , entertaining and interesting . Thank you.
One of the best things about your kids, us we can pick out the things that we personally want in the products, and make a very informed decision on which to buy. Thanks for the upload!.
It's satisfying to watch sand sucked up from a crevice! I have a Black and Decker I bought about a year and a half ago. My biggest gripe? Yep, dirt leaks out after I turn it off.
Ive seen similar comments, but my wife used to dislike me watching your videos... But has become more interested in recent months when youve dropped appliances videos like this or the pan video. Shes now asking me to recommend a best "stock pot" video... Whatever that is. Anyway.. love the videos and keep up the good work!
I had the Milwaukee stick-vacuum and found that the biggest struggle was consuming a proper load (i.e. close to listed reservoir capacity) and not clogging the filter. It eventually shorted out and is now a DEAD vacuum. I'd love to see these vacuums tested for those attributes - how much lint/hair/flour/drywall-dust can they actually pull in a given time period, can they get anywhere close to their listed capacity. Thanks as always for all the work you put into these! Amazing stuff!
This hand held vacuum test was awesome. Considering that these might be used in car detailing it would be interesting to see how they compare vs a regular, and shop vac. I currently use a shop vac when vacuuming out the car.
I was searching for this review on this channel a few months back! As a fresh owner of B+D 20V, it was nerve-wracking to see all testing stages. I'm so happy now! Lol. Only thing I don't like on this device is extendable suction head. It retracts just with a light push against vacuumed surface.
For me, the ease of connecting to the charger is also important. I chose a larger Ryobi Evercharge, which has a charging cradle you bolt to a wall or side of a cabinet. Just lifts on & off the charger.

What a cool story!
Your mother raised a good kid, I’m sure that she’s proud of you, as you are her
It was! It started an entire category and I had one early on too!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
Thanks and you are welcome!

Thanks!
No use buying something if it only works for a Few uses.
i Guess that's where Reviews are important. after 3 months, 6 months & at date of failure.
Good video.

"Nut test" "...is also a really good nut buster..."
Project Farm is going to great lengths to bring on subtle commentary and I'm not gonna sit idly by without saying that was hilarious! Thank you for the laugh!

LOL he kept saying nut, I kept laughing!
Glad I'm not the only one that thought this. 😄
Something oddly entertaining about watching vacuums gobble up nuts
Another home run with some new and thoughtful tests! I love the “nut test” and the crevice test. Because so many struggled with the large diameter of the heaviest nut, perhaps fishing weights would be better. That would allow for a smaller size, but higher weight.
Thanks!
That's a good idea. I did think the nut test provided a good sense of scale to compare the openings to eachother visually and get a sense of how big of items each can suck up, but yeah it ultimately prevented a few from picking up a nut or two that they clearly could have by weight if it were physically smaller.
Yes, maybe lead fishing weights?
Ball bearings or shotgun shot are also useful standardized measurements of mass!
It’s weird because I’ve been shopping for a small vacuum for my car lately and your video popped outta nowhere. ❤️ 😊

My wife just asked me this morning to look for a handheld vacuum. And voila! The perfect review drops today! How great is that?!
Glad I could help!
I didn’t even want a vacuum and after watching this, I am ready to go run out and grab that knock off Milwaukee! I love the thoroughness of the tests. You gave me some ideas on stuff I can use the vacuum for. Love your channel!!!
Thanks! Thanks for the feedback.
Get the knockoff Milwaukee
@@valmikabeneteau7229I saw people on the Amazon page complaining too. Is it still working?

I have an older Ridgid vacuum. It is bigger and better than the one in this video. I do remodeling for work. I use mine all the time. I have about 10 attachments and a hose for it. Still going strong. Got it in 2018. Love it.

I modified a suitcase style Ridgit to run on my Makita batteries. And yes it’s a great machine.
All but one of my battery powered hand tools are Rigid, think I’ll add this vacuum to my collection.
You are costing me money. Great reviews. Best reviewer on RUclips for DIYers
Wow, thanks!
He's saving most of us money by showing us the best values BEFORE we buy and are disappointed. And he shows us how good or bad the more expensive tools are so we don't have to =really= waste money on name brands for hobby use.
I actually bought one of the top-rated corded vacuum cleaners he reviewed in his other vacuum video thanks to him.
@@ljprep6250 I spend money on stuff that is reviewed since he tells us how good it is and it makes me realize I need it now.

It's amazing
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
I love it.

I’d like to try a 9ah flex volt on it
@@TheW83That would be cool. My battery is so crap it doesn’t show how much power it has and has no power level on it and it still cranks. I’ve never felt the need to throw a newer and more powerful battery on it. lol
I agree. I'm a remodeler/cabinet installer, and it is by far the best small vac I've seen on a jobsite. And I'm a Milwaukee guy.
I got one last year and I use it to clean my car and my apartment, it's great
Thanks again! I look forward to many more.
I would love to see you do these types of comparisons on items related to the tile industry. Like shower waterproofing systems, different types of thinset, grout, what wet saw blades work the best, etc. Thanks!

Considering all of the tools you test, you absolutely have to have the BEST garage sales, EVER!!!!
I was just thinking that - as in what does he do with all the stuff after it's done? FREAKINREVIEWS has what he calls his bone yard where he pretty much keeps the stuff he doesn't use after he reviews them. I'd not want to think of the PF's bone yard considering the items he tests.
Just the blue jeans !!!
All the stuff he reviews is likely a tax expense write off. Selling the items might complicate that. Only his accountant knows for sure.

@@bikeny He gives them away at events he goes to. There was a video on here somewhere about six months ago showing him at a rock crawling event.
I've been using the knock off milwaukee at work for 3-4 months now and LOVE it. The exhaust vents are kinda small compared to the cutout, so one of these days I plan on taking it apart and enlarging those and seeing if it performs even better.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hmmm, maybe get a knockoff Milwaukee & see if she'll vacuum like in the videos in the link for it. hehehe

I think both your links to the Milwaukee cordless and Milwaukee knockoff vacuums go to the knockoff product only.
Thank you for sharing this
It is fixed now. Thanks!
Where can I buy the knockoff Milwaukee
Love it!
Thanks for sharing.
If it works that well but has a fragile switch, that’s when you start looking for a replacement switch that isn’t so fragile.
So, what is the part number for the Knock off Milwaukee ?

I appreciate that the less expensive Ryobi did very well. I have two of the REALLY old 'blue' shop vacs. They're obviously not as strong as this version, but I haven't killed them yet after 18 years or so, even with them being used almost exclusively for cleaning up drywall leftovers.
Thanks for the feedback.
I have that knock off Milwaukee, It will over heat as the filter gets dirty and I mean it will get very HOT fast!!! I took mine apart and modified it for it had better airflow across the control board and drilled more holes in the casing for air flow better
Thanks for sharing.
@GCraigmile how much use have you got out of it? I was gonna buy then saw most of the 1-star reviews saying it burnt out after a few uses.
Its just ugly (opinion),
but at the end of the day, the decision between this system and the Milwaukee M18 (much bigger tool selection) and Makita (lighter weight but more $) is partly personal and depends on trades or diy use case.
Thanks for the feedback.
"The Milwaukee performed almost as well as the knock off Milwaukee" is an objectively funny sentence.
Good Point!
While being half as heavy.
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
We had a Shark for about 10 years until the battery died. Since it wasn't replaceable, we bought the 16V Black & Decker Vacuum. The charging stand keeps the battery at full power. The Black & Decker is so noisy, it could raise the dead. 😂
I like my shark better than I like my Black & Decker cuz now my Black & Decker don't work batteries junk! It's only 4 years old
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I need to buy one... will use this information to make a decision.
