Several years ago, I was the concertmaster of the Midland community Orchestra in Michigan. One Christmas concert, our guest singer (at 90 years young) was Kitty Carlisle Hart. We got to chat backstage, and she was such a wonderful and gracious lady - and sang very well. I still have that signed CD of that concert.
The Lanier identical twins, James & Michael, broke that record in the 80's at 7'4". They still, to this day, hold the record for the tallest identical male twins.
Wow, that Gardener panelist really dissed contestant #2 regarding her looks on the woman surgeon segment. He said he chose her because #1 and #3 would cause the sailors to frequently fake fevers.
Yes, in those days, people were much less aware of gender-biased attitudes. On the What's My Line series, there were often questionable remarks made and always wolf-whistles for almost every female contestant.
When they have professions like doctors, they should make sure that all three of the contestants should have medical background. Hy Gardner indirectly insulted # 2 when he referred to the good looks of #1 and #3.
Miss Hawaii was gorgeous and what a nice pair of....legs. Polly was not bad herself and neither was Kitty. Bud always made his job look easy. It probably wasn't easy to end the show on time, all the time.
Also host of the British version of 'What's My Line'. He's quite sharp; I always enjoy seeing him on the rare occasion he pops up on American panel shows.
He was such a great host to the UKversion of "This Is Your Life" during the 50's until 1987. Sadly, he passed away in '87 (I guess), and the torch has been passed to Michael Aspel who hosted from 1988 until the end of the series in 2003, on ITV and then on BBC on the mid 90's.
Oh, that's because I was missing a lot of episodes when I started posting. We had a vote in the TTTT Facebook group where I asked folks if they'd prefer that I go back and fill in the missing episodes first, or continue with 1965 on, and post the missing shows later. The vote was overwhelmingly for going back and filling in the missing shows first. For anyone interested who isn't already a member, the Facebook group is here: facebook.com/groups/718020231652577/ Glad you're enjoying the videos! :)
One of the impostors in the first game never gave her name at the end of the round. Just where she was from and what she was doing. And, I never heard Bud mention it either.
Usually, the producers gave such clues to the imposters. Occasionally they would have the real person wear the 'giveaway' garb to fake out the panelists, and it usually worked.
Apparently the producers thought all the panelists were blind in game #3. Contestant #3 was at least 5 inches taller than the other 2. They should have had the contestants seated while the panelists were taken backstage. A much more dramatic ending would have occurred when the contestant stood up.
Good to see there are sharp-eyed, weak-kneed cosmopolitans always watching for anything they can frantically blame the white-eye for any purported slight, irrespective of foundation.

That is so awesome Esther!

Kitty was the Queen of Class. It's hard to conceive of her as anything but classy.
Watching in 2021 on Sunday fall night . 🌙 nice and cold outside, what a great way to spend a night . Love the old TV shows .

I wonder if they outweighed these two. I would guess that both of these guys weigh close to 400 lbs. each.
Mike died in 2018, his height at death was 7' 7"

gabe 25 I know, that was rude.
I thought the same thing! Very hurtful to #2. :(
Yes, in those days, people were much less aware of gender-biased attitudes. On the What's My Line series, there were often questionable remarks made and always wolf-whistles for almost every female contestant.
gabe 25 Yeah I felt bad for her when she said she guess she got voted for for her personality
I know; that was a major foot-in-the-mouth faux pas.
Kitty always said her name with such joy you know she loved herself!
$1000 in 1958 is equal to about $10, 301.42 today in 2022. $1000 was a great sum of money back then for the winners to share!
I'm from Richmond BC....the Leavy Twins were very well known here....if I were on the panel, I'd have to step down as I know which one he is.
Wow! I was 6 days old when this aired.
Wasn't quite "here" yet: a late 1959 baby, myself.
Oh you kids
I was 1 year old.
i saw Andrews on What’s My Line before i saw this show. i really like am hoping the British WML is on UT. :)
At the time of this taping Hawai'i was not yet a state.🎈🎈

As much as I love Peggy Cass I real!y missed Polly! It's always a treat to see Mr.Andrews also.

The twin brothers Micheal and James lanier are tallest twins on record standing at 7ft 3 inches tall and one of them has passed away recently.
I swear Kitty Carlisle is related to Arlene Francis, I keep mixing those two up.
I know! Their voices are identical
Well arlene and kitty were best friends.
They grew up together, didn't they?

Miss Hawaii would eventually be Miss America. Only it would be Carolyn Suzanne Sapp. She was an awesome Miss America.
Lady #3 in Game #1
Lady #3 in Game #2
Man #3 in Game #3
I figured it was twin contestant #3 because he looked familiar. It's likely from a Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum exhibit.
Correct name is Wynne Proudlock (born O'Mara) and Jackie Leavy.
Awesome upload....have to ask, why are we back into 1958 ? When you stopped uploading we were to or about 1965.

They never mentioned his twins name and I can’t pull anything up on them on google. Hhmm
The first episode where the announcer gives brief specifics on the personality before asking "What is your name, please?"
Eamon Andrews first appeared on the show the previous year as a contestant.
And he was the moderator of What's My Line in England!

Wow ...
In the Miss. Hawaii game, the sash and poise should have given her away.
Would she have allowed an imposter to wear her banner? Not likely, and giveaway for me.

Kitty really did ruin/give away the first game. Oh, well.

But without knowing which one had a twin, it actually was fine. They didn't think the panel were blind.
Except The lady was 6'8" and the real one was 6'10" so not too much of a difference there.
So now I know.Thankyou.
@@reno1uest The panel "was" blind, not "were". Panel is singular.
All I can say is, it must have been excruciating for their mother. No matter how many children she intended to have, I'll bet that was it!
They don't make em like this anymore
Canadian accent is oat and a boat
I guessed Right because I thought #3 looked the Most Irish.
I thought she looked the least Irish, and I was wrong.
Polly Bergen complained so much. Annoying.
I need some gerital
Just take a B-vitamin-complex tablet. Geritol is a B vitamin tonic.
#3 miss Hawaii has very strange eyes. I wonder if she has thyroid trouble.
Twins? Their poor mother!
"These fellas" , not boys !!!!

Just glad for episodes without Orson Bean.
Me too. He really can be obnoxious at times and isn't at all funny.
The insufferable Hy Gardner isn’t 1/16th as amusing as he thinks he is and he’s incredibly rude to boot.
No he was not rude in the slightest.
