I think that self-parking cars are a great realistic milestone that needs to be accepted by the general public before self-driving cars are universally accepted. Love these videos on new technology! Thanks Thomas!

Battlement I don't think fully autonomous cars should ever be universally accepted. A human should always have oversight and be able to take over if the need arises.

The autonomous parking is a nice add-on but with limited benefit. It get's relevant when there is a general shift to autonomus driving, I think. The bigger impact (also from an environmental standpoint) would be CUbE style vehicles. We have a fairly dense bus-network where I live, but once you start travelling odd routes or at later times, it becomes a chore. I'd really like to see normal buses travelling the big routes but additionally the compact vehicles like the CUbE you would just activate like a taxi between normally unconnected bus stops. Maybe by putting in the bus stops you want to travel in advance and the bus company would establish a custom route within a certain time frame around your request. Also taking into acount other requests of course.
    tl;dr:
That would be my favorite solution: Open app, choose time/route and be offered either an existing connection by the normal lines or have an on demand one with a small autonomous vehicle.

Did they, by any chance, build an electronic copy of Eppelein von Gailingen or Dick Turpin for this coach?

I'm not sure but I think the city of Berlin will start a project with this autonomous vehicle to be more flexible in public transportation. They work together with the french manufacturer. A couple of days ago I saw something in the TV.

Not really. Vehicles like the CUbE will remove a lot of cars from the road, removing congestion from many citys making the drive more enjoyable for those choosing to own their own car.

The controller is indeed the manual failsafe for the vehicle. Press X and brake the vehicle - no kidding :)

Great video Thomas!! I love the cube. This kind of downtown mobility would be very appealing imo especially if the vehicle's propulsion was electric or fuel cell based. It would be a great replacement for a car for short trips. Finding parking is horrible but not as horrible as waiting for our local trams which always seem to be late and over crowded by people who lack personal hygiene. ;p Not you Thomas, I'm very sure you are clean.. hehe

Those types of vehicles would be very helpful to reduce congestion. Where I live there's always heavy traffic. It would be quicker to ride an ebike to commute a lot of the time. Even on slightly longer commutes.
I think personally I would prefer to ride in a small autonomous car like the smart concept but many people have to be ok with this type of minibus in order to really make the most benefit.
Also very good point about how you could make parking spaces narrower. I didn't think about that before.

Yes to all . after a long day at work, 12-13 hours, it would be great if I could let my car drive itself to my home, and even call it forward from the parking lot.

I really don't like the idea of having impersonal robot cars replacing personal cars. I will rather sit in the traffic in MY car and let it drive through the traffic itself. But I still want MY OWN car. It is MY space, it is personal, it isn't shared with random strangers and because it is mine and I control it, I can leave stuff in there like a change of clothes if go out after work, or shoes or other personal items. I can listen to my own music, have a phone conversation without others eavesdropping and go anywhere, at any time with anyone I want. I don't like where this is going! What if they start banning cars from cities? I will not be happy. I WILL NOT share a car with a stranger. Other people care about their stuff and others don't. In my car I know it is clean and I know who sat where and that everything is neat and tidy. And I like driving. Sometimes it is nice to drive. And with my own car, I know I can always drive when I want to. I don't want to be reliant on some shared, dirty autonomous city thing unless I really have to. It will be good for replacing public transport BUT NOT FOR REPLACING PERSONAL CARS! I also still want the option to buy a diesel car or a 6 or 8 or 12 cylinder car. I don't want to be stuck with electric only choices. Don't let them take our cars away! :-(

The Autopark function from Tesla Motors is not as intelligent as the one demonstrated in the above video. In order to park perpendicular, in a parking spot, it needs a parked car on each side that it can use for orientation of where the parking spot is.
The ProPilot Park on the 2018 Nissan LEAF on the other hand is reading the lines of the parking spot and uses the line to make a perfect parking.
As for the CUbE I am surprised how much it looks like the Olli from Local Motors, but it seems to be the trend that a autonomous bus has to look like that. The only slightly different design on these minibuses I have seen is ARMA from NAVYA that is built to carry more passengers(up to 15) and drive slightly faster(45 km/h).
