- Tom had 5 applications out within the Skilled Trades and the electricians called first so that’s the trade he went with! The thing he loves the most is the diversity of his job; there are so many different things you can do as an electrician. One of the best parts is “earning while you’re learning” with apprenticeships. Watch his job talk to hear about the 3 types of licenses an Electrician can obtain.

Got into the IBEW at 19 years old. Did 5 years apprenticeship, journeyman at 24. Been in the trade now for 25 years. Great career choice!
Roughly how much are you making annually if you don’t mind me asking
Looking at joining the local IBEW, coming from excavation
@@Arthur-rf1hi it’s a great move. You’ll be glad you did it.
50k is average electrician wage.@@JTsMVP
Hi , I have a couple of questions on being an electrician, is there anywhere I can contact you personally?
You can tell he's a master sparky because his hair sticks up without hair product
Hahaha
Okay that's funny
Ahahahah that was a good one
😂😂
Tom was one of my teachers in trade school. Great guy!! Helped me a lot with getting through the program!
hi do you happen to remeber the school he taught at? as well as his email? ... I'm a first term apprentice and need some guidance ... maybe you could help if you have the time. thanks
@@damianmurphy-morris1941 I know Tom.!
Hi, how can I communicate with Mr. Tom (virtual communication paths) Perhaps your comment is the beginning of a good progress for me. Thank you good friend
Did you have to go to school or college to get this job or do you just have some training with the older coworkers
Well, I’m electrician by trade I believe It was one of the best decision that I’ve made in my life, I see the world in a different way, you know… I have learned through this process, I am more conscious of live, more focused and very concert of safety.
Being electrician have made me achieve a lot of objectives. I am about to finish my degree as a chemical engineering, by the way I am 40.
Hey, I am thinking about become a electrician too. Does anyone know what associate degree that would help me in the career ?
I wanna do this but i know math is required I’m terrible at math but I wanna do electrical work would math be in my way if I wanted to pursue this job
What does the path of that career look like
Just started my first week as an apprentice. Couldn’t be more stoked
Good luck man! I'm thinking about becoming an electrician soon. It looks like a challenging and rewarding career.
There is only 34K certified electricians in the history of CA. You’re gonna need to work hard. A lot of guys think they made it when they become an apprentice but the real quest is becoming certified
How did you get it?
@jmgueeve9159 Just entering my third term. Things going great so far. Can’t complain
@@TheChadavis33 how did you start entering if you don't mind me asking? I'm interested in this career path myself and would like to start an apprentice ship!
Just got in UNION IBEW as a Residential really excited
Great video! I’m thinking of getting an electrician license with my Building Automation diploma. There is so much opportunity out there!
And trades are not going to be automated anytime soon. It's real work
And Somebody needs to troubleshoot the machines that will replace human hands.
I’m definitely interested in learning this as a trade!
Thanks for the education Mr Tom
Awesome teacher.
You can work for a contractor as a service electrician and work at many different industrial and commercial job sites, changing job sites many times within one day.
Hi, how can I communicate with Mr. Tom (virtual communication paths) Perhaps your comment is the beginning of a good progress for me. Thank you good friend
What is the end goal of being an electrician? Like can you work your way up to be in a role that doesnt requiree doing manual labor?
Could you answer two relatively simple questions? At the service panel, is neutral and ground bonded and in a sub panel not bonded?
How do I know if electrician is the right job for me?
This is strictly for USA only
So how do I just get a job when they want experience??? Any help. I’m currently in school
Always choose the 309A license !!!!!
why?
If you don't like physical work but you've got the brains, go industrial.
Uhh that is not accurate if you work at a refinery
@@keegannoel43 this is so true! Electricians at my work (refinery) does the basic stuff and call contractors if they can't do their jobs 🤣
How can I get the license after a four year electrical and electronics engineering degree?
I also want to ask if the license is necessary after having an engineering degree?
Hello sir im eterested to apply to your company.im 15 yrs experience as a electrician
I work in the electric field and at the same time I make pretty things, and I want you to help me find a job.
can i study for the 309C license if i'm overseas?, thanks a lot for the information.
I would say you should go for your 309A if anything. You're then qualified to work in any aspect of the trade. I've done factory work, new construction and residential. No shortage of work if you're 309A
@@cmac178 if you go to school for 309A which is what i plan on, can you still become an industrial electrician down the road?
@@Traahce yes, most manufacturing companies will hire you to do industrial work if you're 309A. You just need to be involved in all aspects of the trade. Ex. Know how vfd's, limit switches, reed switches, plc's and relays all work. Understand low, high voltage and controls work. Never limit yourself to one aspect
@@cmac178 Hello, my name is Matias, I am a certified electrician here in Spain, I can carry out and authorize any work with a maximum of 100kv, I currently work in the industry such as general electrical maintenance and maintenance of machines, motors, automation, etc. I would like to know if Canada validates my degree or I have some way to get certifications there based on my experience and studies. I was seeing that this is the trade college and something called Apprenticeship in Ontario, what body would I have to communicate with to assess my case and thus be able to legally enter the country to work in my sector ??? thanks
@@mdas5306 hey Matias, you need to get in touch with ministry of training. They may not fully recognize your license but you may not have to do a full apprenticeship but they may make you write a couple tests. You will need to be familiar with our codes and possibly write a 309a or 442a license
I am electrician
I want to work in USA
So how I work there?
Experience is 28 years in residential electrician
Is this in the US? Or Canada.
I am interested in getting a trade but need some guidance, @Job Talks
I dont get paid for my schooling
There’s an electrainion world and a business world there are many other worlds as well
I would like some guidance and what state are you located in
I'm looking for a job. I am a 442A electrician
I need work in canada please sir I have good experience 12 years
Hi may Eceltical worker pedicel man. 15 yet pedicel work
Is there a need for electricians at the moment? Need a career change an in my 40's......,help........thanks great video.
Yes but mostly service electricians I’d say. New residential is kind of slowing down now
The demand for electricians is growing for sure. Think of all the new tech that’s out there now. Someone’s gotta work on it. It’s all in the electrical field umbrella. You could even become a lineman if you wanted. Those are the guys who work on the telephone poles. They make great money.

Hi please help me how can I get Australia electrical license
why are 442a's paid like shit unless you do new industrial construction?
Trades, military.... Jobs for people who want to be efficient and are career oriented. My mum cannot support three boys for university so I think to take electrician license and provide my family better future. Personally I ll want from my children to study in university.
hello sir
Do you have your owner company ?
Or you work in a company
Ya well meanwhile here in Alberta we got a nice pay cut last 5 yrs, so 40 + hour an hour is hard to find now. Journeyman rate is from 31/hr to 40. But them lower rates are rather too common. And if you didnt do Canadian schooling you can also end up working for 15/hr, even if you were in the trade for 10 yrs, did your own projects and have directly related collage education.
Many companies also seem to be looking for 1st, 2nd year apprentices to keep cost down even further. I haven't seen an add for 4th yr in months:(. Some contractors also choose not to pay at times if they underbid the project or just because they can....
Good luck, do your school on time and try to get employment with big companies, where it helps to be a non smoker.
Work is also economy dependent....
Engineering can perhaps be a better option or other university education based profession.
Hi, could you tell me which trade is the most in demand and well paid
I got universal EPA license. Now I’m thinking about my electrical license
I'm starting a 442A apprenticeship, is it possible to do the 309A simultaneously?
Am from Nigeria, am an electrician, I would like to move to Canada, I need proper guidelines
oh
ok
Good luck
I am electrician twenty years experience
I am 25. I was told that I am way too old to become an electrician even though I have experience in the field. And that I would only be a labour at best. If you have any tips pls share! I live in toronto
Never to old my dude. I say u do it. Take 9 months or 2 yrs of training. But it's never too late. Cuz 10 years down the line u gonna be like, "man I should have took the class". Don't play with time just do it. 💯✌
There is no law I know of and no other reason, that you couldn't do that if you want it. "If you want it!"
I live in Toronto as well. I'm 20 and a first year electrician. dont join the union. theres plenty of non companies on Indeed looking for 1st and 2nd year apprentices. hit me up on IG @damian.xlx if you want to talk more
@@damianmurphy-morris1941 appreciate the reply brother. I'm currently in an electrical apprenticeship program with centennial college. Should start job placement end of June. Im definitely open minded about working non union. As long as it's commercial or institutional I'm game! Dont have an ig but I have snap. If u have anymore pointers they'd be much appreciated thanks man! How u liking apprenticeship so far? Any side gigs?

The rest of us just get our Red Seals and aren't bitches. Red Seal to Master's to business license. Maybe there's a difference for Amps and Voltage you can pull permits for, but that's about it.
