CCR and Little Feat are two bands that are honorary southern bands despite being from California. As a southerner myself, I have no idea how either of those bands were able to be so swampy from all the way out on the west coast, without being from here. They both have such a deep groove.

John Fogerty made a re recorded best of album called Wrote a song for everyone. Every song is done new with a guest star. Tom Morello from Rage against the machine, Kid Rock, Foo Fighters, Keith Urban (Almost saturday night, my favorite one on the album) I highly recommend listening to the album. The ballads on it are awesome too.
