Corridor of chameleons is easily the most underated song from them.
My favorite rap song
Thier entire discography in the 80s/90s is criminally underrated.
Chaos the best metal
This is literally Josh Travis dream riff
Probably my favorite 7 string era song of theirs
I always felt like Jens was rapping in Neurotica too. A lot of the tracks in Chaosphere and Nothing have this exact same "rap" vibe. I love it.
Bruh, check your spelling G hahahah
@@DrewFortune97 oh shit, lol 😂
At the end of Elastic, it's pretty much all the track on top of each other at once. Closing the chaosphere.
First Meshuggah album I ever bought. Such a classic.
This was the first Meshuggah album I ever bought. I was 13, had just started playing guitar, and didnt understand what was going on. I had heard New Millennium Cyanide Christ and lived it so much I had to hear the album. It was probably 3 years later before the album clicked as a whole.
RUclips is being weird and wont let me edit my comment. Corridor of Chameleons may be my favorite track on this album now. Funny story about Elastic. Me and my girlfriend were stoned and I left her in the car with this album while I went into the gas station. I came out and elastic was on and she was stuck, starring, mouth open, like she was just frozen. She said she didnt want yo turn it off because she wanted to know what was going to happen but she didnt know how much more her brain can handle.
it's one thing hearing it today with the whole prog/math/djent scene and knowing what meshuggah are about, but at the time of release, yeah this was a genuine mindfuck.
What I think is cool is that honestly with a gun to my head before those subgenres, I would've called them groove metal
When I first heard this back when I was 13 in 2001, it literally rewired my brain. I was never the same.
This album is Jens vocals at peak aggression, he's never sounded so savage before or after Chaosphere. The music is also the fastest and most abrasive Meshuggah has ever put out. These things make this album special to me, even though I find it hard to listen to more than once at a time. There is so much going on at such a fast pace, it's really exhausting. And the end of elastic is fucking terrifying at high volumes.
I'd argue the crazy moments of catch-33 sound more savage (in death is death, dehumanization, etc...) hit a higher peak, but overall chaosphere has easily Jens at his most feral sounding.
@@iancraig5415 definitely agree with you there, the opening AAAAAGH in Shed is one of, if not the most visceral scream ive ever heard in metal music. both albums are fucking fantastic in their own right but i still personally hold Chaosphere above all other Meshuggah albums for being essentially a gauntlet of immaculate riffs one after another. Catch 33 is an experience of a lifetime but Chaosphere is just so groovy and re-listenable
Thordendal solos
Id say the newer stuff is more feral
Jens destroyed this album
Corridor of Chameleon is singlehandedly the grooviest song in that record. That bouncy riff that’s played in the middle of the song right before the breakdown with the panic chords/verse with that bend is insane, but the drumming is quite intricate. However, when they transition back to it with a straight up just groovy drum line is the most hard hitting shit I’ve ever heard. The fact that they fade the song with that is criminal. Not to mention the background guitar just creating this insane atmosphere. It’s one of the most chaotic and grooviest songs I’ve ever heard in my life.
one of the best albums of all time
The first brave soul to react to Concatenation. Respect
New Millennium Cyanide Christ is peak Meshuggah. Grooves so hard...
It’s sad that they don’t play new millennium cyanide Christ anymore live 😢 I wish they would, it’s a instant mosh song
I'm kinda glad they don't play it live anymore... My poor neck wouldn't survive to this
You have a source where they said this?
they didnt play bleed either on the last USA tour
@@cerberus3504ol, yeah it’s not like future breed machine wouldn’t either lol, or rational gaze😂
@@svengah?
From what I recall reading, the end of the last main track, "Elastic", was a mixture of every other song on the album played at once. If not every song, it's at least several of them. That "deer in the headlights" look was appropriate, hahaha!
If you ever feel like revisiting these songs, someone on RUclips named Systematic Productions remastered the whole album with a lot more bass. Highly recommend that version for more punch.
4:42 "Follow the fooken chugs" should be the Meshuggah mantra
Let's go man 💪 Excited for you to get to Architects Hollow Crown
Been a fan since 2006, and Sane was my gateway to Meshuggah.. man the nostalgia.
finally!!!
this album feels amazing to play
this is so fun to listen whole album with you after 25 years of my first listening. crazy stuff, such modern and unpredictable. Game changer for metal music.
Thank you!
Yup, probably the heaviest thing I had heard back then. Some death metal bands were coming close, but this was something else entirely. We just didn't know what yet. Definition of groundbreaking.
Man, how come you haven't heard Frontierer's "Orange Mathematics" and Car Bomb's "Meta" yet.
How
is
possible
This whole album is greatness, Neurotica being my stand out always.
Sane is under appreciated, Ophidian NMCC is goated
2 more meshuggah albums to react to!
And "I"
@@Kenjames10he already reacted to I
This album got me through the 7th grade; 7th grade! HOW have these guys been around longer than I've freaking been alive and STILL going?!
They *still* sound ahead of their time.
You should listen to their remix of Concatenation. Grooves like a motherfucker.
Dude, great to have you back again
Greatest Meshuggah album
Catch33
Great album. Have you gotten to Destroy Erase Improve Yet? thats their best one:)
I second this! It's my favorite!
Well I missed them the first time round , and Yeah Im glad I did. Thanks for the heads up on this I will definitely be giving them a wide berth .
Hey it's me again, the broken record lol. When you doing Sol Niger Within?
The real Jens Kidman era, so good to hear !
It's insane how far ahead of its time this album was. Literal alien music from the future.
My brotha, you need to listen to some live tracks. The whole “Alive” album in my honest opinion sounds better than anything they’ve released. You can really feel it.
Best Meshuggah album in my opinion
YES
YES

Drew can u please do Fear Factory!! The song is Autonomous Combat System!! The best metal band ever
Corridor of Chameleons 🔥
The dawn of djent before it was djent. A modern masterpiece.
Wonder when you’ll post the full video lol
One of my all time favourite albums! (Except the first track which is WAY better in the alternative version)
Personally disagree, i love both but something about the absolute raw aggression of the original is just so appealing to me but I can see where you're coming from
Balls
The 1st sing is actually not hard to hear... if you listen to concatenation REMIX you will be able to hear the song... after listening go back to this version... then you will ask yourself why oh why meshuggah would you play it so fast... yikes... quite astonished actually that's what gets me about meshuggah.
I love how raw this album sounds. It's Djent at its near beginnings.
It's nothing like djent
@@morganshibby8941it quite literally IS djent
Seriouly please...😁
NMCC. Besr song erver.
