I'm so glad someone gets that we have to actually SEE the stitches! Thank you for using a light color of yarn, good lighting, and especially HUGE yarn and needles. Just watched another video and they were using black yarn and about a 3.5 mm needles, it was extremely difficult to see what was actually happening. This was crystal clear and I love that you give 2 ways to do each increase. Also appreciate that the video gets right to the point and doesn't make us listen to you talk about your vacation or your pet, etc. A PERFECT VIDEO in my opinion.
I can just feel your relief through my screen lool, I felt the same when I came across this channel😌 Yayy to sheep and stitches for not being stingy and actually explaining slowly and in detail lol 😄
I love ALL you videos. I still have to refer to this video everytime I have to switch back and forth from M1R to M1L, but I'm a newbie knitter. Your videos have taught me to knit at age 67😊
Thanks so much! Something about your cadence and humor made it so much easier for me to get. I have ADHD, so learning new things with knitting at times can be really frustrating. I’m making my first pair of fingerless mitts and have just gotten to the thumb gusset-gah! Your video clicked for me more than any other, so thank you. Subscribed!
How funny, I found this video to learn the stitches for fingerless gloves- and dealing with thumb gusset too! I agree about it being a good video for the stitches. I've been knitting for years, but I'm self taught so these videos when I try out new projects are ideal to help with the less common stitches! Even without ADHD, some people way over- complicate their instructions and make things confusing. This video explained the stitches very well.
Love your tutorials! Always very clear instruction. I actually got into knitting with your scarf tutorial a few months ago and not I'm making my first sweater 😍
Very well explained , I can now see the difference on the sole of the sock that I am knitting after watching your tutorial , thankyou so much , it’s just great 👍🏻!
I'm really loving all of your tutorials! They are very clear and have helped me learn to knit with confidence, so thank you so much for making and sharing these :) I think the aspect that has been the most challenging is learning to read the patterns with the brackets and asterisks and all and trying to wrap my head around what's happening next (admittedly, I sometimes find patterns challenging in sewing as well and I have much more experience there).
I kept getting the same results with m1r I got holes but not from m1l after this video I don't you explained in ways others don't thank you million times all of your videos are so helpful
I love all your video"s. They helped me a lot on my journey to knitting. Now I can make fabric with my handspun yarn. Keep those tutorials coming ;) because I'm on my way towards starting your Raglan sweater. Sooooo excited!!!
This simple, visible, and helpful. Thank you! I sometines think, 'Oh, nevermind, increase one', but it just is prettier if you do it right. (And left, when needed).
thanks so much for the in depth explanations! i clearly need a knitting experienced granny with some time to spare near me who i can pester with each silly little question that i always seem to have when knitting.
Exactly what I needed, thank you! I'm making a capelet and wasn't happy with the way the increases were worked in the original pattern. I also wasn't too keen on the original neck, so I changed that too. 🤔 Basically, the only thing I kept is the number of stitches to be cast on. 😅
FYI: Some projects may have the previous row strand twisted slightly in w upper row strand between stitch. If u are unsure which is the right strand to m1 with, tugging on stitch on left needle will tell u which one is it as the stitch will get bigger when pulling correct strand. My project has this,it's called Rumpelstiltskin shawl. I'm not sure but I suspect it's due to the yo 2 rows down which is the same stitch as the m1.
Yesssss! I thought it was my messing up with my knitting thank you so much for this! This is a great tutorial I have been struggling with this for awhile. It makes holes in .y knitting and I'm trying to make children's mittens with thumbs.Grrrr!
So much easier to lift the 'bar' with the left needle! I always get mixed up with how to put it back on on the left-hand needle when I lift it with the right needle.
Lovely tutorial. Very clear! Just wish you had shown continental style as well. It's enough to figure it out, but we know you can do both styles! Thank you!
Just wanted to say that I've kind of always been intimidated by knitting, but I saw your scarf tutorial for beginners and am following along and having a blast!! (the wonky stitches are real, though)
So glad you're knitting a scarf! Knitting is definitely intimidating at first, but once your hands get the hang of it, it'll seem like the most natural thing in the world thanks to muscle memory! Anyway, thanks for sharing and good luck knitting!
Just knitting a thumb for mittens and it uses these stitches. Great video! I watched 2 others and the never explained that putting on the bar different directions is even there, they just say to pick up the bar argggg. Glad I found your video for it because wow it’s great! Also is there an easy way to remember which direction to pick up the bar for which side and also which direction to put your needle into the stitch? Like a poem or something to make it easy to remember? Maybe I’m over thinking it too much lol. Thanks so much!
Excellent video! Thanks for posting. Also nice nails! I’m glad they are simple and clean. Flashy nails are so distracting on other videos! Maybe it’s me.
could you please make a good video on how to identify if you made a ML MR on the last row or just a regular stitch. I cant find a good video especiallyone thats not in a huge chunky yarn it too hard to see the stitches ina chunky yarn. If I loose my place I dont know how to tell if I made an increase on the last row or not
When I make M1R and MIL increases (using two knit stiches on either end of the sample) I get little eyelets. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
I have a problem. When I do a M1r I get a huge hole. I think it is because my next stitch is a purl stitch but I don’t know what to do. I do my increases every other round and the result is not good at all 😓
I'm so glad someone gets that we have to actually SEE the stitches! Thank you for using a light color of yarn, good lighting, and especially HUGE yarn and needles. As a beginner knitter, I agree with you 100%
I can just feel your relief through my screen lool, I felt the same when I came across this channel😌 Yayy to sheep and stitches for not being stingy and actually explaining slowly and in detail lol 😄
P
I've watched a lot of M1R M1L videos and this is by far the easiest one for me to follow. Thank-you!!
M1R 2:10 back to front, knit front
M1L 3:36 front to back, knit back
I was looking for a comment like yours. Thank you for your service.
Thanks! :)
This is, by far, THE BEST video I have seen on M1R and M1L. Thanks!
I love ALL you videos. I still have to refer to this video everytime I have to switch back and forth from M1R to M1L, but I'm a newbie knitter. Your videos have taught me to knit at age 67😊
Davina! you make everything so easy to understand. I love your channel. You're my go-to for any new stitches I need to learn.
I love how clearly you show the techniques. I am able to knit now. Thanks to you!
You are the BEST teacher!! You are so clear and easy to follow! 😅 Thank you so much!

One day I won’t need to check this EVERYTIME I come to a M1R or L 😂
for anyone reading this and thinking the same thing, i use: "i LEFT through the FRONT door, i'll be RIGHT BACK" :)
You are not alone!!!
Same!!!
Love your tutorials! Always very clear instruction. I actually got into knitting with your scarf tutorial a few months ago and not I'm making my first sweater 😍
Probably the best knitting tutorial video I have seen so far 👍
She does a great job at explaining both increases. Thanks! :)
Very well explained , I can now see the difference on the sole of the sock that I am knitting after watching your tutorial , thankyou so much , it’s just great 👍🏻!
This comment is half feeding the algorithm and genuine thanks. It's not every day I do make-ones sobi refer to this video often.
Thank you!
you are a GIFT !! watched so many videos but only yours really help 💕💕
I'm really loving all of your tutorials! They are very clear and have helped me learn to knit with confidence, so thank you so much for making and sharing these :)

Thank you so much for your well explained clear tutorial. I thought I will never get it right and i will have to go back to crocheting. 😂😂
I kept getting the same results with m1r I got holes but not from m1l after this video I don't you explained in ways others don't thank you million times all of your videos are so helpful
I like that you get straight to the point!
Thanks for the wonderful, clear and concise instructions 😀
I love all your video"s.
They helped me a lot on my journey to knitting.
Now I can make fabric with my handspun yarn.
Keep those tutorials coming ;) because I'm on my way towards starting your Raglan sweater. Sooooo excited!!!
Awesome!! A sweater is so exciting! 🤩
She is an AWESOME TEACHER!!!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video. It’s been a while since I’ve knitted and seeing this demo has been so helpful. Thanks again.
You’re very welcome!
You are THE best knitting teacher!
thank you, thank you, thank you. Even though I'm an experience knitter, I just couldn't pick this up till your video. Again....THANK YOU
I'm always so excited to see new tutorials from you! They're so helpful and well made!
Thanks so much!
I totally agree. Please continue to make more. Like a two at a time sock video 🥰
Excellent instructions without extra talk!
This simple, visible, and helpful. Thank you!
I sometines think, 'Oh, nevermind, increase one', but it just is prettier if you do it right. (And left, when needed).
I agree!
I ripped out the M1R and M1L from a sock twice so far because it just didn't look right. I'm ready to try again and came across your video. Yay!
Hope it works for you this time!
Very, very nicely done. Playful but clearly presented! Enjoyed this video and it was very helpful! THANKS!
Thanks for your lovely comment!
thanks so much for the in depth explanations! i clearly need a knitting experienced granny with some time to spare near me who i can pester with each silly little question that i always seem to have when knitting.
I learn to knit watching your videos. Thank you very much for all your hard work.
Great knitorial for a beginning knitter. The thumbs on my mittens look great! Thank you.
Exactly what I needed, thank you! I'm making a capelet and wasn't happy with the way the increases were worked in the original pattern. I also wasn't too keen on the original neck, so I changed that too. 🤔 Basically, the only thing I kept is the number of stitches to be cast on. 😅
Jenna Wilson
omg!! do you have a picture of the capelet? i'd love to see how it turned out :]
This is so great! Thank you for explaining this so clearly!!
1:10 m1R
2:41 m1L
Thank you for this!
Great explanations and demonstrations! Thank you!
I have this saved on favourites as it’s such a great explanation and I always need reminding.
So happy this has nothing extra...just gets to the technique....i just need a quick reminder!
I love the instant replay!
Wonderful thank you! I especially liked that you demonstrated the two different ways. That was super helpful!!

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve re-watched this video. Thank you so much for being a fantastic resource.
Always glad to see a new tutorial!
Thanks! I'm so pleased I can share this one with you!
Thank you! This was very helpful and you explained it well.
Thank you SO much! 💜 I'm very new to knitting and this was explained perfectly! It's exactly what I needed to calm my sudden doubt. 😌
you have the best tutorials
So much easier to lift the 'bar' with the left needle! I always get mixed up with how to put it back on on the left-hand needle when I lift it with the right needle.
Great to see someone knitting like an Australian!!
aaaaa i love finding out I've been doing this wrong
thank you for the amazingly helpful video
knitting timestamps--> 0:51 is M1R and 2:34 is M1L
You made learning this so easy. I am learning to knit! 😮
Thanks again, have a bless day and Happy New Year🍇🎉🪅
Very clear and helpful. Love your tutorials!
Thank you!
I get holes with this increase. EDIT realize I’m not twisting the stitch befor knit thru front or back. If twist it won’t make hole👍
I don't get holes with this increase. The thread must be twisted. No hole.
for M1R when you pick up the bar you go from the back of the bar. that creates a twisted bar, I think !!! try it , it may work
Thanks for getting right to it! PERFECT!
Thank you! Lovely clear demo, really helpful ❤
love your tutorial easy to follow and understand. I also wanted to know if you could do a tutorial of M1LP if possible. Great work :)
Thank you for this video! very well explained!
Great instructions. Thanks heaps - from Melbourne Australia:)
Every time I knit gloves I refer to this video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you sooo much for simplifying these make ones.
Quick and to the point. Love that.
Very helpful and clear. Brilliant thank you x
Great job on your videos! Keep up the good work.
Lovely tutorial. Very clear! Just wish you had shown continental style as well. It's enough to figure it out, but we know you can do both styles! Thank you!
Hi 👋 very nice tutorial 👌
Please help, so what about the wrong side? do I do the same but purl them?
So clear and yes I subscribed for more
Just wanted to say that I've kind of always been intimidated by knitting, but I saw your scarf tutorial for beginners and am following along and having a blast!! (the wonky stitches are real, though)

I knit continental I wish you did tutorials showing both styles. Your tutorials are great.
This was super helpful! Thank you much!
Thank you so much @sheepandstitch.
Excellent video! Thanks for posting. Also nice nails! I’m glad they are simple and clean. Flashy nails are so distracting on other videos! Maybe it’s me.
The best teacher!
Aw shucks, thank you!
Nice but how to continue on the beck side please do that. so everyone will be thankful for learning thank you 🌹🌹🌹🌹
I like the 2nd method on both. It's easier when it's one step and not 2.
I LOVE your videos! They’re so fun :) And helpful! On a non-knitting note... Could you share what nail varnish you have on here?!Looks fab 😍💅🙏
could you please make a good video on how to identify if you made a ML MR on the last row or just a regular stitch. Thank you. Love your videos!

Absolutely love your knitorials! On a totally different note, what nail polish colour are you wearing?? 😭 I'm on the quest for a perfect nude 💅
That was so easy and clear.thank you
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Thank you so much. This is super helpful
Thanks! That was very helpful 👍
Now it makes sense, thank you!
Thanks. This helped me understand the US term for this. Solved my ‘what the? ‘ moment!
What a great tutorial thank you
Excellent tutorial
But when you’re working on the purl side, are you purling these M1R / M1L stitches?
How do you start on the first row. It seems the only strand to pick u is the foundation chain
I have a problem. When I do a M1r I get a huge hole. I think it is because my next stitch is a purl stitch but I don’t know what to do. I do my increases every other round and the result is not good at all 😓
"Knitorial" i love it :D
You are such a great teacher. Thank you, thank you very very much.
