The Xenoblade games have such incredible choreography and cinematography for their fight scenes. It feels so grounded but also they make it epic with how the characters are animated and how the action is shot with the angles. Combined with the incredible music. It's just mesmerizing to watch.
That scene where Rex meets Pyra and gets revived seems like it was inspired by Shulk and Alvis meeting in Memory Space and Shulk comes back. One of many ways this game has stuff from the original.
@noponwisdom t I mean I would say alvis (or ontos rather) is probably the most powerful of the 3 considering he has demonstrated he has both power as a blade,has knowledge of events that are happening everywhere and has mastered "Monado"/"monad" ( I assume it's something they are all capable of considering malos can use quite a bit of em) plus isn't the zohar supposed to be a non sentient being anyway?

The scene at 14:00 reminds me xenosaga 3 when the black testament was trying to kill Shion and Kos-Mos awakened from her coffin after using the hilbert effect..

I imagine if Rex made it to smash, his up B would be Anchor Shot but when it hits an opponent when both of them r airborne, rex would zoom up and slash em. When using it to recover, he would launch himself a distance equal to the distance he traveled to get to the ledge and slash at the apex This concludes my comment no one asked for

This game is anime garbage, but thats also part of why I fucking love it. The voice acting kind of has that Sonic Adventure 2 feeling for me where the voice acting is kind of in this "so bad its good" area, and the game takes itself too seriously.
Despite the tone of the earlier chapters, Xenoblade 2 has an even deeper story with a darker theme that is more reflective of the current state of the world.
@Tinyrocket I don't mean it in the literal sense. But rather the theme of the story is very relevant to our current reality, with how self destructive humanity seems to be, with the world literally dying and nations care more about self preservation than finding an actual solution together.
@Tinyrocket That's pretty much my thoughts too. Every character is trying to do what they think is right. Or what they feel is their purpose. And because they have different perspectives, their ideals clash and that causes the conflicts. It's so interesting to just analyze each character and see the world from their perspective, because it makes so much sense for them to act the way they do when you know how they came to see the world.

So you wind up with a lot of scenes where the characters tone doesn't match what they're doing on screen. Like Rex's genuine but subdued concern for his coworkers and frustration at getting stabbed while physically flipping the fuck out.
