  • I am experimenting with some backing tracks I recently purchased. Apologies in advance for poor sound quality and some timing errors (I was recording using the built-in mic of my lap top and am not used to these tempi yet).

Your legato line and control is sublime you have a real blade like quality in your voice. Add a little more expression and longing into it and would be outstanding!

interesting, my advise would be, open up the voice more , don't be afraid you will tame the volume with practice, place it firmly in "the Mask", practice seamless transition from chest voice to mask, and most important, Diaphragm support do not sing one single note without that support, and you will never run out of air, Oh, don't be afraid to make it BIG!!!! you will "tame" the higher volume in time. you got the musical gift, a very nice tone, with a rock-solid technic you could go as far as you like. You picked a very difficult aria, the slow tempi, listen to Jussie Bjorling's 1959 recording. the definitive version for me, the ultimate singing lesson for tenor, the biggest most power soprano in music history Birgit Nilsson, said once, It took her 10 years to find the voice and an other 10 to "tame" it. try her In questa reggio from Turandot, with or Salome the final scene, "ich habe seinen mund gekussen" , with Solti studio, or Met 1972 Bing gala night live. Good luck, and find a good experienced coach.
