    Great video. I was told these and the CAT are the top TQs to go with. Possibly something these have over the CAT is the CAT relies on hook and loop for retention, which when filled with mud can fail. Obviously that's being nitpicky, but it's something to consider. One thing about the SOFTT-W is it has a much simpler buckle for retention than the normal SOFTT mechanism shown here, which may be a factor if you're under stress.

      My next video will be on the SOFTT-W! :-) Yes I would go either with a SOFT-T or a CAT.

    Good stuff! That looks a little more heavy duty than the other CATs you typically find in Army Trauma Kits. Thanks.

    $30.00 is a reasonable price when the need is there to use it. I will be getting one foe the kit thanks so much for the review and great block of instruction on it's use.

    Now that the SOF-TW and newer generation CATs are out, these older SOF-T's are even more affordable ($20 or less).

    I'm no expert but that seems like an ingenious design.

    Looks like it is relatively easy to use and if the price is $30.00 less expensive than what I have seen other types sell for.

      Personally I carry the CAT, but I know people who swear by these.

    I have been looking at purchasing tourniquets for my kits. I don't find lengths for the straps. You say it makes a nice wide loop in this video. Can I count on getting most, or any of the popular tourniquets to function on a 38" diameter appendage?

    Winsor? You mean windlass? 😂 I’m just messing with ya man. I MUCH prefer the newer SOFTT - W . I don’t like how thin the webbing is on this one, and much prefer the newer hardware .

    thanks So two hours is as long as one can be on without damage?

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  10 лет назад

      There are cases of them being on for 16 hours. So yes they can be stay own longer but the current recommendation is 2 hours.
